I'm often critical of apartments that make use of creative-but-impractical ways to utilize a small space, but this one looks eminently workable. I particularly like the sliding doors that can close off the bedroom and study, which would save me tidying time when visitors came! Storage space is limited, especially in the kitchen, but I suppose I could use some of the study space for a storage closet. I like the sense of community that is encouraged here!

The bathroom is the only part I see an issue with b/c there is no separation from the shower to the towels.

"Living in an apartment should enhance rather than compromise your amenities" - what a concept! This home design is exceptionally good. She has designed for long-term living, unlike many places which seem to really just be hotel rooms.

"Living in an apartment should enhance, rather than compromise, your amenity." - So true, and so rarely recognized, sadly.

I highly value a dedicated study/work area especially since COVID. This is one of the relatively small apartment designs (55sqm for a couple and pets) that really made an effort to put a serious work area as opposed to gimmicky fold-out-a-work-desk approach that I often see.

I have a study in my apartment, which is used to be able to close the door and be alone. But i have more than one person living with me, and mine has a window. This one is a gimmick: if you close the door you'll be in a closet, not a room. And secondly, who are you hiding from there?

@@gavrikss I mean it sounds like you live in a larger corner apartment if your study has the luxury of having its own window. Given the floorplan, I think it's a decent work area. Much better than many of the so called work areas featured in this channel.

@@LycisAhara mine is 63m2. It has separate kitchen 8m, living area 17 and three separate rooms 10+10+7. Each room and kitchen has at least one window. This is a variation of Khrushchev era building which is very common all across Russia. I mean, the design is nice in colors but there are so many flaws in it, which are common through a lot of modern renovation projects: no drying area, washing machine in the living room, too many doors covering things making it harder to use them.

What I love the most is the communal spaces that are environmentally conscious. The use of solar power and water storage tanks is brilliant! Now tenants aren’t spending an arm and a leg in rent to cover the cost of amenities and landscaping! 🤩

problem is the solar panels require destructive mining for their rare earth metals; and they're usually not recycled properly aka just dumped in African countries. same goes for wind mills. renewable energy is not as perfect as environ(mental) activists like to screech.

Love the fact that it's so breathable, every apartment should have end to end balconies to soak in natural light. We need to build similar spaces in India. The is by far the best apartment on never too small. Please don't make us wait too long we need more videos please.

Yes, but a Utopian society based on facts not fantasy! (I appreciate that survey’s were utilized by the architects). The bike shop and patisserie (with outside cafe) were wonderful additions to this build. It just feels good, every bit of it.

I know right! I love greyhounds and have one myself. It broke my heart as well! 99% of the time when someone says a greyhound is "too skinny" they mean well but just don't know what greyhounds naturally look like. Well, this is the 1%. That poor dog... his/her hip bones!!

this apartment is really perfect but i don't consider 55sqm is small. In Berlin, lots of people live in 20~30 sqm micro apartments and over 40sqm, not considered small :D

Berlin appartments are quite big compared to most other cities though, thanks to the relatively short time since the wall fell and big spaces where to be had for low money. Cost is still comparatively low unless you come into the city today. Many residents are still on older rental contracts and have three digit square meters for three or low four digit euro rents. It's just that the city is growing so fast that there's almost no new appartments added in comparison and mobility is slowing down so if you are in need for a new one you pay top euros now.

came to say the same thing, my last apartment in Amsterdam was 51sqm, current one is a whole 4sqm bigger.

The urban design aspect of this project is amazing, really like how to apartment complex merges so seamlessly with the public landscape!

Looove the huge windows and the terrace, the layout of the apartment and the color scheme! 😍 I would only change one thing - I would put the bed in that study space and the desks in front of those awesome windows. I think it's a waste to spend hours working in that small space looking at the wall. Also, having a bed in a space without direct sunlight is more cozy, and when you sleep, you don't see the view anyway. 🙃

Wouldn't have passed building regulations if the study and bedroom had switched places. In Australia a bedroom space must have windows.

@@duck7237 l don’t think the council would know or care if you put the bed in the study though (if it fits). It does make sense especially during lockdown to use the larger and brighter room as the office space. Alternatively you could have a Murphy bed in the bedroom and put it up during the day and have two study areas.

@@kismetau yeah, I agree. That would be your choice after you've moved in. But they would never had got plans through council planning and received planning permission if it had been designed that way. That was my only point. It's a very personal thing. I've noticed a few people have commented on this video and said a similar thing about preferring to have the bedroom in the dark section and the study in the light. Personally, it's not for me. I like the way they have it already. But either way, I was just talking about the actual design of the apartment rather than how people use it once it's completed. Each to their own I guess!

With computers it's better to be in a darker environment for the sake of your eyes. Computer screens are harder to see in sunlight, also they need to be kept cool. In Australia, having access to the outside is vital as not everyone has air conditioning, most housing is built without it.

1) i love kitchens that are just placed against the wall without coming out like a breakfast bar or something 2) i love the dividing door for her bedroom mainly cus it doesn’t feel clunky and like it will break soon 3) the color palette overall is calming and ethereal

I absolutely LOVE this one! I could easily see myself living there. The separate office space also has the potential doen the road to become a nursery if needed. Beyond the apartment itself, I’m in love with the communal spaces!! I wish every apartment building could be designed with that in mind.

The apartment is north facing. My mind: That is great less direct sunlight. Also my mind: this is the southern hemisphere

It's the ideal direction... like a southern-facing window here in the northern hemisphere. Lots of winter sun (well, lots for winter, that is) and not direct sun in the summer (especially with overhangs).

I love this perspective on communal living, especially as a New Yorker. Communal living here is nearly inescapable. I also must say that as a "never too small" feature, this would be a large 1 br in NYC! I appreciate that there must be more room in Melbourne and they are choosing this smaller space.

One of my favorite showings on this channel! I’d take that apartment in a heartbeat and the only addition I could think of is maybe having a window (possibly frosted glass) on the wall between the bedroom and study to bring some of that gorgeous light into the office space. Such a lovely way to use every bit of space so practically.

Absolutely love the decor, the layout, that amazing balcony, the colours black mixed with greys, the light wood flooring and the splashes of greens with plants everywhere. Probably the best small apartment I've ever seen. So tasteful, efficient and cozy.

This apartment is so beautiful and practical! I love the amount of natural light entering the apartment! Everything in it is so practical. I also love the sliding doors.

I wish apartments in NYC were like this. It provide greater flexibility to those with smaller apartments which is the majority of NYC residents.

This is my fav! I love how u can close off the bedroom specially when you are cooking. The apartment is also very spacious where you can just stretch ur legs comfortably ! The balcony is just the cherry on top! My only drawback would be having no natural light/window in the study area. Absolutely love this home!

Desk! Desk! I love when these have room for workspaces.

The whole setup feels very organic and the layout of wooden furnitures surprisingly make the space bigger than it actually is.

Some green touch is new to me and it turns amazing

That place is amazing, I love the thought of community between neighbors and the greenery put into the place. It just feels lively.

I love this channel so much. The design of apartments like this are so clean, soothing, and minimal and the ambiance it creates is just so relaxing to see. Definitely inspiration to look to.

I really like what they have done for entire complex, and yes, living in a multi-apartment house can and should make thing better for all participants, it is achieved greatly with proper communal spaces. The apartment itself is awesome. Very nice use of space and light. I wish more architects learn from this

Love this apartment! If it was mine I would have switched the bedroom and study room to sleep in a window less space and have a work space with a view, but that's just my personal preference and needs. Still awesome nonetheless! The shared community space is a nice cherry on the cake.

Gorgeous apartment. I love the study space that can be closed off at the end of the day, and the balcony feels like a bright, beautiful extension of the living space. Excellent dog as well!

as someone who loves houseplants and is always struggling to give them enough light the balcony and north facing windows are a dream! the kitchen space is also generous with the addition of the table and the communal workshop is fantastic, i love diy but living in a small (carpeted) apartment makes doing projects difficult. i would love to live in a space like this

I really like the whole experience through the space, the lighting, the materials, the colour pallete! But I will definetely agree with this comment, i think people spend quite a lot of time in their working space, therefore a good amount of light, views, ventilation and space are really important in my opinion. The bedroom is usually only used at night so I believe if the 2 rooms where switched we would have the perfect appartment!:) Amazing work though!

Don't know about others, but I only use my bedroom for sleeping (and other adult things 😏), so throughout the day it's not used. I'd prefer a tiny bedroom and more living space. Windows in every room would be ideal if apartments didn't have to share walls, but sometimes it's not possible.

You are so right about the sliding doors…it makes a big difference and your dog and budgie are gorgeous 🌕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was thinking "Nice apartment" and then, "Oh! Greyhound!" I saw a couch for the greyhound but it wasn't clear where the humans sit.

This apartment is about the size of mine, and while mine isn't as "smart", it's perfectly comfortable, perfect for one person. The main advantage this one has over mine is the ability to have a separate office and living room area. I turned my living room into my office, as I use my computer for entertainment too. Getting a projector makes it so the bedroom doubles as a tv lounge.

I just love this design. Nature inside bright and just simple but still modern. And rly love how you can just slide the door and see a beautiful bedroom on the other side of the wall. Great way to design a small place!

I have seldom seen an apartments complex like this. The communal areas are beautiful. The project shows that these Architects really think out of the box and see Architecture as it should be and not as something that only produces objects of beauty. They took hold of social and psychological aspects to create this project and the result is gorgeous. Holistic vision. Marvellous!

Honestly has to be one of my favourite ones so far wth, its really nice :)

This looks like a pretty common studio apartment structure in Australia.

I find this way of organizing an apartment interesting since with little furniture a comfortable space is achieved with very good lighting and ventilation. You can see how strategically things can be located and organized so that they work in a good way, and I like the open and free area that is created since very few walls are used, giving it a lighter appearance creating good visuals from the inside.

It makes sense, i love it, goes to show that you really don't need a 3 storry house with 14 rooms and what not, minimalism and effective space utilization is the way to go, overcomplicating matters fills your life with worries and doesn't make it a condusive space to be at ease

considered small in certain countries. totally normal or even high end in other countries. In my eastern European country I worked years to earn enough so I could rent a 50 m2 flat on my own. spent most of my adulthood in flats between 25-40 m2

The communal areas in this complex sound amazing! And this is one of the few apartments on featured on this channel that I’ve felt like i could live in

This is exactly my dream apartment!! Everything is just so perfectly built. When she said, "Living in an apartment should enhance rather than compromise your amenities" is an absolutely gorgeous concept and that is why I like the idea of living in an apartment. Gonna save this video for my future refs! 💚💛

My #1 problem, always, is the exhaust system. I cook a lot and having no proper exhaust is a huge problem. The entire house smells and humidity/molds issues. Nice design though

Why not make the study face the beautiful view with natural light where you spend most of your day, instead of a dark room? And put the bed where you just sleep at the back.

Love the design details and how usable the apartment space is, plus the community amenities.

Love that in the work space the background is just a wall. It can be "dressed" (or not) for appropriate video calls. No windows in there makes it a perfect work-at-home spot!

Would there be a way for us to see a few more of the apartments in the same building? Are they all the same inside or not?

What a lovely community minded space. I loved the communal spaces to entertain.

I love the thoughts towards communal living and the openness and light available - I especially love the plants and green palette. I think my only problem would be storage (though admittedly I guess that could be a me problem of having too much stuff). Especially the lack of shelf space for a bookworm like me.

i like this idea/space. i would make 2 changes. i would swap the bathroom and office space around. this would allow for a walk through closet from the bedroom into the bathroom. the second change would be to move the washer/dryer into the bedroom closet. with this idea, everything to do with clothing would all be in the same space.

Nah. Washer and dryer in the bedroom doesn't sound like a good idea for me. Keep it in the kitchen or the bathroom. Also, for a tiny space, walk in closets take up too much room - which is why they would have opted for the bank of cabinets instead. To create a walk in closet space they wouldn't have had enough room left over for the private study area.

Perfection! And I’m in love with the communal spaces.

It’s probably a rescue. It’s a common thing here to adopt greyhounds after they’re no longer wanted for racing.
