Drawn to the features of late 19th-century Barcelona modernist architecture in the apartment, architect and owner Carlota Siverio preserved elements such as the door, tiles and windows whilst adding modern touches that complement the overall design. By removing the coverings of the living room walls and stripping the ceiling, Siverio revealed exposed brickwork walls and a gorgeous structural vault ceiling, reminiscent of the period. A variety of colourful mosaic tiles were either restored or authentically re-created when too damaged. White melamine floor-to-ceiling storage cabinets concealing functional elements run throughout the apartment and seamlessly blend into the wall, allowing the heritage elements to be focal points. At the end of the apartment, the sunroom features era-appropriate terracotta 'rasilla' tiles and reconstructed windows that now open fully providing an outdoor extension of the living space.

It is not small but man, I don’t care. I am delighted that you showed this one. It is absolutely stunning. One of the best apartments I have ever seen. So functional. So cosy. So many beautifully restored elements. Bravo!

Under 700ft isn’t big, either. Though I guess it depends on how many people live there. It really is lovely how they did it.

It’s small. Looks bigger bc of length and air circulation. The bedroom for example, it’s just a regular couple bed and wardrobe, and that’s it.

I guess it depends. 60m2, a bedroom with a dressing, a separate office and a second living space…. Definitely not small in big city’s I am used to 😀

Yeah, I’d still call this small. I’ve been a realtor for 25 years and I’ve sold perhaps one property with less space.

Average UK home is something like 80m² and less for new build homes so this is a pretty spacious one bed apartment to me!
Really like this one. Layout makes sense. Lots of light, lots of air. Turning the kitchen into a sun room was a stroke of genius.
I love when people respect the history of the buildings, this is my favourite apartment sooooo far!! I'm in love
From time to time I watch videos showing very expensive apartments in NY worth 50 million dollars. 95 percent of them look terrible. Yet this one is so pretty. Wow.
Please, may we see more examples of compact living in climates with long winters, and clients who have winter gear: big parkas, skis, boots, snowshoes, bicycles with studded tires, etc. Winter creates challenges for compact space design because the gear is so bulky. And places that have winter and also summer require extra clothing and storage space for the off-season. I'd like to see those kind of design challenges. Places like Australia or Spain, that have consistent climates, are easy to design for. Places like Canada or Iceland or Finland, are more challenging. Can we see more from there?
I’ve seen videos of $150,000,000 apartments, and this apartment has more beauty and craftsmanship than all those mega-luxury homes put together. I wish I could visit Barcelona just to experience the way you managed to sculpt the light into a beautiful masterpiece.
This apartment is a masterpiece! THAT FRONT DOOR and its hardware!
the sun room (or shall I call it sala del sol) is a stroke of pure genius. overall, the feeling is light and airy, uncluttered and simple, the flow seamless. Great design is at times, unpretentious and clean and simple

You can call it sala del sol, but no one will understand what you're talking about. We use the word solarium, but it's not quite the same as what this room is.

We may call it galería

@@denissegrimursa2861 yes, that is a galería, yet not the same concept as a sun room.
Beautiful! And thanks for showing more diversity here ❤🏳️🌈
Carlota and her wife really created a mini heaven over there, what an incredibly lovely apartment! I love the contrast between old and new. The amount of eyecatchers is just right, creating a really tranquil environment.
congratulations on the completion of this beautiful home. your home is a testament to a shared love for history, architecture, and the beauty of the past and present coming together. your sunroom is easily one of my favorite spaces i've ever seen in this series.

Agreed! Love the floor tiles, especially, in Greece these are becoming more and more rare as people cover them up, which is so sad!

All that, and it's in Barcelona! 🤩
the exposed ceiling, the kitchen stone, the flooring... love this..
This has to be one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever seen. Absolutely stunning. And I really love all the built in storage that seems to disappear in the spaces. Let’s the historic features shine
this is one of my favourites ever. they've been so careful to preserve the essence while modernising almost everything. the light is stunning and the design makes very good use of that. i would love to see a making-of of this channel
Such a stunning restoration and renewal... but I was devastated not to meet the cat (lol), who I am sure adores lounging in the sun room.
Love those little details, like the hole for the cats in the closet
Such a beautiful home.
This apartment has so much personality. It also looks much bigger than 60sq m and it screams Barcelona🥳👌🏻
What a beautiful apartment, and I LOVE how they kept the unfinished wall and ceiling structure, and how they organised everything. Wonderful.
Finally a cozy , warm, functional and modern but not minimalistic house.
So many homes need to be filled up with different items to be breathtaking. This apartment needs nothing because it’s breathtaking as is. Wow❤
A lovely combination of old and modern, with clever unobtrusive storage.
It's a hard work to restore old windows and doors! It looks amazing
Such a good work! At first I noticed the lack of wall decoration but then I really enjoyed how the "empty" walls helped to highlight the stunning floor tiles!
Beautiful place ! The treatment of the flooring is very inspiring, the tiles of the study area are especially gorgeous I'm definitely keeping that design in mind for my future place. I also like the little touch of having the lights visually connected between the bedroom and living room. My one criticism : she says she has a cat but we didn't get to see it in the video... I wanna see the cat !!!

I was informed that the cat declined from being seen.
Those balconies really make the space special and liveable.
That door! the ceiling! the french windows! the tiles! oh my…
The whole apartment is such a serene space. The floor tiles, both original and new, are gorgeous. The preservation of the original ceiling and front door is so well done. All are beautiful features. I especially love the sun room. May your home always be a place of joy and sanctuary for you both.
Beautiful home. It's well-designed, rustic, modern, elegant... what a gem. The restoration and preservation efforts were not lost on me. Customization is definitely the way to go.
This is a beautiful space, and I love how it's just flooded with sunlight. The owners did a magnificent job restoring and preserving elements of the apartment, and the finished product is so serene-- a real personal sanctuary. Stunning.
one of my favorites so far
The CEILING. My soul, it's glorious. I love the restored floors, I love the original wall that now displays artwork. You see so many bland apartments where everything is white, and this color palette is so refreshing and inviting. This home was a pleasure to view, and my favorite I've seen in the past year on this channel.
I love all the changes they did! I love all the features they restored! The sun room and study look amazing! I'm in love!!
I had the pleasure of visiting the apartment and it looks even better in real life! The materials are incredibly beautiful and the light is stunning. A lot of clever decisions made this small apartment look bigger and more appealing. ❤
I love it! My baby was born in 1896 lol. I always respect and admire architects who respect and admire older world charm. Well done. 🇬🇧
I’m so happy they went with tiles to replace the damaged floor. They’re gorgeous and celebrate traditional Spanish tiles in an updated way.
The sun room is a key feature of this project. Great work, great details, perfect home.
I moved to Barcelona in January and I absolutely love this apartment. There are tiles everywhere in Spain. They're so beautiful.
Favorite room is living room. Really nice tiles in all rooms❤
60m2 in the old town of a big city in europe is not considered small nowdays. Anyways- the flat is beautiful.
Renovations that include ancient architectural elements from previous centuries are incredible, since they have to work very meticulously, in the end all this effort is worth it, since the results of these renovations are incredible.
i love the sun room! the natural light into the apartment is gorgeous
A beautiful apartment, and the restored entrance door, floors and ceilings are its real highlight!
The vibes of that sunroom are everything 😍And loved the honoring of the original construction! So beautiful and unique.
A old flat that looks fresh and modern a delight!
Love the ceiling! So much character was added to the living room. And the sun room, just perfect
I fell in love twice with Barcelona. Once when Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe and the second time seeing this beautiful home. Chapeau.
Easily one of my favorite apartments in the series! Unique, with so much personality and a gorgeous mixture of simplistic lines against historical features. It is truly, truly special.
Well done, Carlota. You've created a beautiful and inviting home. 🧡
I think this is the most beautiful apartment reviewed by this channel.
It’s beautiful and functional. You won’t feel afraid to live in it like a real home not a showroom
A clever transformation of the kitchen into a sun room, which is a stroke of GENIUS!! 🙌🏻
Perfect, it appears to fit the occupants well, and I could imagine living there myself
My favourite of all the places I've seen in these videos, by a long way!
Oh,! The antique building and materials combined to make a beautiful modern apartment. Well done, typical female, to design voluminous storage spaces.
Absolutely gorgeous. Love the historical elements, particularly the tile. And the balconies, giving access to the outside as well. Plus all the storage!!! So peaceful and pleasant in every way.
Beautifully done. Great balance of creating a home that respects and showcase the building character.
Original door from 150 yrs ago! 😮The ceiling is awe inspiring. Beautiful transformation of dark room to study. Lovely respect to original craftspeople.
Superb! Blending old and new in a brilliant way. A proper home! Excellent use of materials and space. A real gen. And 60 sq metres. Again excellent design and attention to detail proves what can be achieved. Thank you for sharing.
Stunning space and good design has made a small footprint seem spacious.
By far, the best thing I’ve seen in the last days. So beautiful, so inspiring, so full of great ideas… The kind of project I love and the kind of home I’d live in. Really special, congratulations!
Beautiful, sleek, has everything yet feels very spacious.
This might just have to be my favourite! I wouldn’t change anything, just gorgeous ❤
In love with the sun room. It looks so cosy and cohesive with the whole apartment
What a beautiful apartment! One of the best I've seen.
Oh wow, these floors and ceiling…! ❤
Me encanta vuestro hogar. La altura de su techo, su forma, el ladrillo, esos suelos!!!La luz que entra de sus balcones y el mirador abierto. Habéis hecho un trabajo fantástico, respetando la elementos de su pasado y adaptándolos al hoy. Buen trabajo!!
So cute. Great floors and I absolutely love that sunroom.
Beautifully done As the saying goes “Less is more”
I simply love this apartment.
oh myyy!!!! the high ceilings, the tall doors and windows, the original DOOOR!!! I'm in love with this place it's so beautiful wow!
conservar los elementos arquitectonicos de la vivienda es un gran acierto. TIENE UN ENCANTO ESPECIAL! precioso hogar
Beautiful design
Delightful spaces, brava! Sometimes I'd love to be a minimalist... but my nature seems to require chaos... the past, present and future projects all mashed together 🫣 , but I'm always somewhat in awe and respectful of those who manage it. 😉
Love all the floor tile. Its like a traditional rug for hot climate.
Couldn't take off my eyes of this one. Well done!
Love the uncovered ceiling and wall....gives a wabi-sabi look and feel.
The restoration of the ceiling was such a great choice! What character!
The original wall and floors are priceless. Wonderful bright Apartment with gorgeous windows.
I'm in love with this space! Gorgeous. The colors, the light, the tiles, the old entrance door, everything works perfect. It shows it was done with heart.
Love it! 10/10! No notes. 😂 I would move here in an instant.
Loving the apartment. I'm not a big fan of tiles, but in this apartment, it creates a really nice look.
What a beautiful and functional space. I’m in love with those handmade floor tiles in the study 😻
Absolutely gorgeous. Every single detail about it. This is how homes should be restored, brought into the modern day, and made functional. It's so sad when I increasingly see white double-glazed windows, fake wood laminated floors or carpeting.
@aesaphyr
9 ай бұрын
Carpeting always hurts me viscerally whenever I see it made as a design choice. I'll never understand its appeal over tile or wood. Yes, maybe it's warmer in a cold country but rugs exist and can be better cleaned and have more character. I lived in a couple of 120-150 year old apartments (rented) in Edinburgh during the decade I was there and most bedrooms had carpet installed... usually over the original hardwood floors, instead of restoring these or re-flooring.

@@aesaphyr Completely agree. I'm currently living in England and the number of rentals with carpeted floors I've lived in and seen is immeasurable, haha. Easy, cheap, unsanitary, ugly, and I can go on and on 😆🤌.
The floor tiles are to die for. ❤
One of the best projects here ❤ Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
One of the most unique entries.
That ceiling is spectacular. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇬🇧
I've been watching these videos since this channel started and this is hands down my favorite apartment i've ever seen. The beauty and life of this apartment makes me emotional
I love sunrooms, and this one is spectacular
Very nice, gives me this antique vibe but at the same time is very clean
Wow this is an amazing one! Such a beautiful mix of old and new and so many great original features. That door!!!!
Wonderful apartment because of the original elements respected, ample storage solutions and a floorplan that is functional. I love the colours and the light.
This apartment is stunning! It's not that small, but it is cozy. Love love the tiles!
Love this house, the light, simplicity and division of the different spaces! The sunroom best element of the home.
Incredible. LOVE the details. What inspires me is knowing this space is smaller than my 1 bedroom apartment, so I KNOW my home has potential to be great. However, unfortunately I can't renovate at all, I can still do what I can! Sometimes I feel stuck where I'm at and worry I may never move somewhere bigger, but these videos make me hopeful that I don't need to in order to live the life I want.
Wow !!! How amazing. Such a beautiful home. On the larger side, but damn its cozy. Well done!
Such a peaceful apartment! 🥰 love the idea of the sun room
Wow i love Barcelona and i lovee this kinda apartments in Barcelona! The ceiling is just wow
This is personally one of my favorites in a long time WOW. So much character and uniqueness plus functionality… and daaaang all those windows and balconies 👏👏
