Skateboarding: It’s generally thought of as a young person's pastime. And when three people in their 50s and 60s were told they were too old to board they decided to prove their critics wrong. So meet Elizabeth, Keith and Sabina who've created ‘Very Old Skateboarders’ a social media group that's encouraging others to race around London's green spaces. Wendy Hurrell reports from Hyde Park.

Same as it ever was, longboarding is pure.
I'm 43 I have two boards and started 5 months ago. That guy has inspired me to get mine customized now👌🏾

This is just what I needed to see, I'm 50 next month and been thinking of getting a longboard for a while but thought I was too old. Apparently not.

Hi, thats great. I am 56 years now and started in the age of 47...never stood on a board before...
Love this and yes, longboarding makes this 52 yr old feel like a kid!
I love this on so many levels!!! I started 2+ years ago at 48 y/o, post double transplant and during our first Covid lockdown in NZ. It was and still is a huge part of my recovery

Here in the states I work as an RN. You. Three are an inspiration to keep moving no matter what! I see people almost half your age that give up and have resolved themselves to die in a nursing home! With out even trying!!
You're never too old to do anything. You'll know when you're too old, it's when they lower you into the ground
63 and just starting.
This helps to keep balance, agility and strength through the years. It's really good to slow age related issues.
I'm an ancient longboarder at 56...lol! 😁 🛹
I started riding skateboard at 48. But its too hard to balance ..i fell off one day i got hurt my left shoulder. It took 3years more to get cured. But... Today i just regret that i gave it up. I want to ride board again....now im 52..i love to try it again. Thanks.

What's the seriously deeply dropped deck board used along with the pole? I've a friend who would enjoy pumping / poling as he struggles to foot push these days - hell he's nearly seventy!

fair few people use poles for pushing like how people use in italy to push boats makes it easy and fun, when doing the "santa cruise" a few years back people used them for long distance events etc

It’s a “Drop down” longboard ... I just started land paddling on a longboard at 50... it’s amazing... complete flow state... nothing else matters
