That will depend too on factors like modern day cooking needs, having access to parts (companies typically don't make parts for models past 10 years old), and what laws say in terms of environment laws/rules.

Reporter thinks they need to upgrade appliances. Appliances are: Programmable microwave with motorized turntable. Full-size multi-feature cooktop oven. Two-door full-size fridge with control/display panel, ice maker/crusher/dispenser and water dispenser. GE multi-feature dishwasher. Full size washer and dryer units. Large double-basin kitchen sink with a lever faucet. All of that was common in 90s-built homes. Also has a jacuzzi tub and a separate walk-in shower with sliding door, which weren't necessarily standard-issue but weren't at all uncommon. I seen the same thing happen to a 20 million dollar house in Bel-Air, Los Ángeles. I was an intern for a luxury real estate agent at the time. The house was basically untouched since the 1980’s, never remodeled, funky architecture, old furniture, overgrown landscaping, but sat on almost an acre of land and had a breathtaking view from Century City to the Pacific ocean. Apparently, the owner lived in a luxury condo nearby, and was kind of a recluse according to his family. After he died, they put the house on the market for 23 million and it sold for 17 million.

my 97 year old friend and her husband built in 1957 one of the first houses in British Properties, the "Bell Air" of Vancouver, BC Canada. Her wash basins are PINK (of course) in the Master, and her landscaping is original. Even a mahogany piano from the company started by JJ Astor as a competitor to Steinway. 1927. Walnut cost more as it was harder to source top grade than tropical.
