George Michael wrote this song when he was 17 years old. He created/composed that saxophone riff himself. He arranged and produced this song. He is an incredible "soul" singer. He was the first "white" male to win Best R&B male singer and Best R&B album in the American Music Awards in 1989. He sang duets with Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston, Jody Watley. During Motown Returns To The Apollo concert in 1985, he sang duet of this song with Smokey Robinson and one of Stevie Wonder's song with Stevie himself. He has covered a lot of Stevie Wonder songs with Stevie's blessing! George was an incredible singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer. And he was a beautiful human being inside and out. He is sorely missed. RIP, sweet George.

Miss him too. I heard he watched This Morning or some such daytime program and a lady was there who couldn’t afford IVF but was desperate to have children. He phoned up and paid fir her treatment and she had a baby. What an amazing thing to do. He did lots of stuff like that and never wanted anyone to know about it. A very sensitive soul, possibly too good for this world.

Blige, and Whitney Houston you must listen to, as well as singing with Stevie Wonder, Smoky Robinson, and Queen for Freddie’s tribute. The classic Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me With Elton John is another. ALL you need to react to.

Then shockingly died on Christmas which was twisted because he has one of the biggest Christmas songs. I've been a fan since I was a kid so it was tough to take. I cried so hard I got a nosebleed. Then the next Christmas whenever I heard "Last Christmas" in a store or something, I wanted to go on a rampage. So sad. And... Michael Jackson had died on his birthday years before so when June 25th comes around every year, I'm just like... 🥺😞😔

I even go back and watch Adele’s Grammy tribute “Fast Love” and listen to his. Right before or after each other. There are just some stars that when you remember they are not here literally feels like a punch in the stomach. Being British, for me they are all British artists except for Michael Jackson. Freddie, Amy Winehouse, the Brothers’ Gibb.... list goes on. The most precious gift is what they left behind. So they are never forgettable or forgotten. Rest In Peace. All of you. There’s a reason why when depicting the heavens opening the wonderful sounds and harmonies are used. It’s them alright. 🤗💕

Even though he was one of the biggest names of the 80s and into the 90s he still didn't get the level of respect that his talents deserved in the wider music audience outside of his fan base. And that was despite many industry accolades. I remember being laughed at by so many people even when he was at the top of his game because they refused to actually listen and pay attention to what he was doing. It was their loss and now that he is gone, so many people are coming out of the wordwork to admit this very thing and people like me who always recognised how superior a vocalist he was is laughing at them becuase we have had his magic for decades. The thing with George is that not only was an exellent creator of his own music, but he is one of the very few performers who can sing the songs that were already fantastic by other amazing artitsts and do them justice or in many cases do them better. And he has also done some of the most iconic duets ever. There is so much to discover and you will get tons of different recs of mostly his most well-known songs but you should watch his performance at the Concert for Hope kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZedu6SQp7bRd7g.html or MTV Unplugged unplugged george michael mtv or Symphonica kzread.info/dash/bejne/gaSDs9mHhN24h6g.html or all! He was one one of the most incredible live singers ever BUT he was also an amazing human who despite his many demons loved people and donated anonymously to so many individual people and charities, the level of which is something that only became public knowledge after his death. Thanks for attending today lecture. 🤣

He co-wrote this song with his then-Wham band mate, andrew ridgeley, when they were only 17 years old. It would be his most successful single, which frustrated him because he never understood the appeal of the song since it was about infidelity.

Oh Leo. You've just landed on my favourite artist, songwriter, musician, producer of all time. First single released as a duo called Wham! When I was 13 (1982). Their first single was Wham Rap (enjoy what you do). This man was a musical genius. Please, give this man your time. It will be worth starting at the beginning and we will give you live performances that are vocally and lyrically brilliant, heartbreaking, funny, sexy and bring out every emotion in between. Lucky to have seen him live twice. Much love and gratitude 🙏

George Michael was an amazing compassionate human being, people need to take time to learn all the ways he graciously gave to everyone. Sony wronged him in so many ways! He is an icon as a artist, humanitarian and was a very compassionate person. He donated millions of dollars unanimously to charities, research, individuals, and more. He deserved way more respect than what he received especially from the US, which is very sad to me since I am an American. He left us with the absolute most amazing music for decades to come. Thank You George for who you were and what you have given us. ❤️❤️❤️

He wrote that song on the bus when he was a teenager! George Michael is a national treasure in Britain and one of Britain’s most successful and respected artists of the past 40 years. He had enormous commercial success in America around the late 80s with the Faith album. He faded in the US but in Britain and Europe, he continued to be incredibly successful after that and was undoubtedly one of the most adored public figures in Britain of the 80s 90s and 2000s. Everyone seemed to love him - male, female, gay, straight. He died very suddenly and shockingly on Christmas Day 2016. There are so many extraordinary vocal performances to listen to and watch but probably the very best is the ‘Live and Plugged’ tv show performance of the song “you have been loved“. It really is something else. It’s probably one of the best vocal performances of the entire era.

I'm in Los Angeles. He used to live here in early to late 90's. There was a non-profit organization that was struggling: Project Angel Food (back then when the AIDS crisis was bad, PAF was delivering free food to terminally ill AIDS patients to their homes) and in 1991, George found out about it. He slipped a check for $25,000 and a note under their door and had been secretly donating $50,000 every year to them until his death in 2016! He made them promise secrecy b/c he did not want the attention. After his death, it was revealed and I have been volunteering there since 2017! What a beautiful and humble heart he HAS. What a loss he is to this world!

We lost a great one when he passed back on Christmas day in 2016 I believe was the year. I remember well when I found out, was at the movie theater with my sister and brother to watch one of the new Star Wars movies and checking my phone during the promos and saw the breaking news, I was just gutted, my heart was broken! RIP to an amazing talent George Micheal! 💔
