Why are we giving aid to developed countries like Israel that are perfectly capable of purchasing whatever needs they have? I couldn't care less if Israel went to Lockheed Martin and ordered $26 billion worth of ammunition. I would be extremely frustrated if they demand the American TAXPAYER foot the bill, especially when we are already providing regional military support to Israel directly (against Iran and Houthis). We have too many pressing matters at home to give away hundreds of billions of dollars as "gift" to foreign nations.

My question is, why do we keep giving money to these countries versus these countries taking out a loan to buy the equipment that they need? Those countries should be going in debt in order for them to buy and fund their defense and not the US going deeper in debt to give these country stuff.

As an Israeli jewish soldier in the Defense Forces, much appreciate the US support however I also would like Israel to become more independent with arms manufacturing. I believe the US would appreciate allocating their funds to their homeland security among reason threats, and that my country Israel would function better and be able to make their own decisions better without money ties 👍🏼

The us has used its veto 45 times out of 89 for the sake of isreal. You can't be independent. Isreal is the largest recipent of us foreign aid 150 us billion. Israel seems to be making whatever decision they want no matter what the US tells them. I think you’re confused about which country owns which. Your country is running the show. They own the USA, you realize that right? It seems counter intuitive until you look into for 5 seconds. A little research into history and you see very quickly that it’s Israel who owns the US government.

A lot of Israelis share my view actually, as of recent events and tension between Biden admin and Netanyahu, Israelis are feeling the funding comes with strings attached and inhibits Israel from conducting operations without oversight. I would not oppose a proposition of American arms manufacturers setting up shops in Israel for iron dome missiles, etc. Israel has decent GDP

It’s obvious that Ukraine is surrounded by Democratic governments except for Russia but Israel is surrounded by mortal enemies so as far as aid goes, which one would you support the most?
