never daily drive an fj cruiser.

Фильм және анимация

Over the past few months I have come to the conclusion.... never daily drive an fj cruiser. Now, that may be a tad extreme. I love the FJ Cruiser but in this video I talk about why it may not be the best daily driver for you.

I love my FJ. I use it as a daily driver and it’s fabulous. The blind spots don’t bug me. The only issue I even have is if I’m parallel parking in front of a little Porsche where it just disappears. Otherwise the only thing I’d agree with is the mileage but you know that going in. It’s comfortable, it’s poised for a vehicle its size, it drives like a car and my 10 year old absolutely loves it too. As far as not having enough space… ??? I sleep in the back of it when I go to the drive in and am completely comfortable. I’ve owned Alfa Romeos and Audis and I love those, but this is still the favorite car I’ve ever owned.

Well said, and perhaps helpful for people who are considering it without... um... looking into what it's all about. It's designed from the ground up as an off-road vehicle. Don't expect it to be anything but that, and you won't be disappointed. It's like people complaining that a Jeep has a stiff ride and is top-heavy; well... yeah. That's how it's designed. I personally "daily drive" my FJ, but then I'm basically retired so I maybe fill my tank once or twice a month unless I'm on an excursion somewhere. It just *goes* wherever I want it to, and that's what's important to me more than anything else. Road, no road, doesn't matter. It just goes. Hauls all my camping and prospecting gear quite neatly. I have installed a few cameras and electronics to help with the visibility, as well as comms and navigation systems, but those are just conveniences. I originally bought it to haul my food cart around, and it was perfect for that, but now it's just for my pleasure in diving out into the wilderness and exploring. And for that, it's even better. :-)

For any vehicle the recommended mirror adjustments are rear view should show the whole window while in normal seated position. Lean to the right until you head iis in line with the center of your vehicle and adjust the right side mirror so it barely shows the right side of your vehicle. For the left side mirror lean to the left till your head touches the silent side window and adjust the left side mirror so you barely see the left side of your vehicle. There a video that shows this and explains why.

Mine is 100% stock, other than the tires of course (I put on Duratrac tires). As for handling, it is actually pretty amazing for an offroad truck like this. I've had 6 Jeeps. Two XJ Cherokees (both around year 2000), 3 Wranglers (1 TJ, 2 JK's), and a Commander. The Commander was still a fairly good off roader, but not on the level of the others. I will say the Commander was the smoothest and best for driving. Drove it from Chicago to San Diego and back, and stopped all in between. I also took my FJ all over the country from Chicago to NY and Florida, and more. The FJ beats the Wranglers and Cherokees by far on the road. The only one that was better for on road driving was the Commander.

I dont see how any of those reasons other than Gas mileage supports not using it as a daily driver.

The FJ Cruiser must be driven. You have to pay attention when you drive it. You have to be aware. No auto-lane correct or other junk. You drive it. Which is fantastic.

    1. 17 mpg is better than I get out of my 92 OBS Chevy C1500 V-8. 2. An FJ doesn't even pretend to be a family vehicle. Totally retro-utilitarian. 3. Wanna Camaro, buy a Camaro. 4. Blind spots? Try driving an 18 wheeler. That's why God made side mirrors, learn to use them. People don't drive FJs cause they are functionally correct. People drive FJs because, as stated, they are "DOPE" !

Yeah... compared to a 2 dr Wrangler, the Fj is easier to get a rear passenger in and you have more trunk space

and the fj drives liek a car compared to any jeep. But when this dude said he likes to go fast im like righhhttt. well sell the fj and buy a porsche, you cant have racecar handling and balance with the prowess, reliability and economy of a hybrid all in one.

Been driving mine since 2007. There are NO blindspots on the FJ! So over hearing this. Learn how to aim your mirrors. I can see each lane for miles rear ward, I just don't get it.

I am mostly discussing the B Pillar blind spot, when coming up to weird intersections it is very noticeably blocking the view of traffic. The merge blind spot can be fixed with the circle wide view stick on mirrors

I know this is an old post, but you should take it down. It’s Toyotas version of a Jeep. If you think it drives bad, try a two door Jeep. I have both vehicles and both lifted. I don’t understand anything your saying. It was not meant to be a 4 door SUV. Keep posting tho.

I daily drive a 2007 fj 2wd. I bought it in 2023 for $7500, 178k miles. I live in colorado and 2wd doesnt not sell, so can get cheap. I lowered it 2 inches put smaller michelin highway tires 245/60r17 . And i am getting 25 mpg highway. I thought of getting a toyota minivan, a rav 4 or mazda cx5. But those all cost more than this 07 fj 2wd. The mini van would get 25 mpg, the rav 4 cx5 30 mpg but would not be able to tow 5,000lbs , wouldn't go 400k miles on original engine transmission
