Around this time, Johnson would have been staggering through Oxford with his tuxedo and his goons kicking homeless people and guffawing. Truss was in the liberal party learning to count and Sunak was sat miserably without sky TV obsessing that his yacht was too big to be a small boat.

They're completely, utterly, terrified of him being perceived like Ed Miliband (post bacon sandwich) or Jeremy Corbyn. They're quite lucky this hasn't backfired. His shadow cabinet is full of complete lightweights; they've removed all wit from Starmer himself. They'll spend a bit of money here and there, probably make some more bad things illegal, but they don't really have a policy agenda at a grand scale. Even against Boris Johnson let alone a more conventional tory this would be a risk (they'd still win, but not to the amount they're apparently due to get).

Come to Jesus Christ today Jesus Christ is only way to heaven Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus

I still don't want to vote for him but it's a cruel irony that the left of the labour party see him as a "red tory" or whatever when he has a *far* better track record of helping defend the poor and weak against the rich and powerful than (say) Jeremy Corbyn (a career politician) ever did.

I would argue this is a flaw rather than a some naïve virtue. It will be good for the UK to have a bland prime minister for a few years but a bland prime minister is surrounded by the types likely to be chosen by a bland prime minister e.g. Rachel Reeves: Vaguely "competent" but clearly a believer in big noun-heavy policymaking rather than the adjusting of incentives, by which I mean that the "we need to make the economy do xyz" isn't just cynical rhetoric (i.e. the average British voter believes this stuff) but also emendating from a lack of appreciation of markets (which isn't the same as worship).
