There’s no 2 ways about it, Hal is very good. Part guitarist, part singer and part metronome. I had to watched it about 15 times to break down what is happening. It’s all there but you need to work to absorb it. So in the intro there are 4 things happening in sequence. 1. Hand Slap 2. Singing 3. Double base note 4. Riff (which I thought would be the hardest part but turned out to be the easiest. LOL) So the issue is keeping the timing and sequence in your head. For easy guitar you simply strum or pluck and sing along. This is an easy song but there’s lots of balls in the air and he is doing it all deceptively easily. His arrangement too is verging on genius. Lastly as he sings into the second verse, he pauses the guitar then throws in a string muted strum followed by a full sounding A and the Asus4 is hammered on and pulled off. It’s very cool. It has taken me about 3 weeks to get this all down which either says how bad I am or how good he is. Thank you Hal!

Or maybe im smoking kickass weed ..haha You had me til that solo it just wont work guys....when the bottom drops out So does the listeners attention ..still a great lesson A second guitar comping the chords fixes that Or a bass Oklahoma..not arizona..but does it matter lol

Hey, how's it going. My idea about playing a lead in this song is not about doing it solo. Did I not make that clear? Hmm... You are correct about the bottom dropping out. No, this is just a lesson to teach you the chords and stuff. By the way, I was born in Arizona not Oklahoma, but I really don't remember. :)

You seem fine, but maybe make a lesson plan, before trying to teach us songs with mistakes in them, wrong order, forgotten lyrics and solo pieces. It seems like you need to practice before teaching. It is a pretty simple song with simple licks and cool timings. I have seen this a million times before on youtube, people that teaches doing it 70% instead of giving it 100% that a song like this deserves. Just being honest. I hope you will see this as a useful comment. I am not trying to be toxic.

Hello! Thanks for the comment. This video was made about three years ago. Lately I teach the chords first and then I walk through the whole song. If somebody wants the tabs and lead sheet all they have to do is pick up my book. Any size donation will get the current version with updates through 2021. A donation at PayPal or signing up at Patreon or subscribestar qualifies to get the book. The links are in the description.

Hi, I'm working on this song again today and just noticed your comment. Not sure what you need here. It's a slide up to the 8th fret with the 2nd finger on the G string and the B and E strings covered by the 1st finger on the 7th fret. Does that help? Email me at lessonswithhal@gmail.com if you need more help. Hal
