Cats' tongue. When I was a lot younger, I had a bad fever. I was covered in thick blankets and still felt cold. My black cat, Squirt, was the alpha and usually kept to herself. My cat knew how much I was in pain and decided to lie on my chest. She tucked in her arms and started purring. It relaxed me, made me feel warmer, and I fell asleep. Then, my nose started to run. She crawled up to my face and began licking the tip of my nose. Waking up, I pushed her away with what strength I had left. She laid back on my chest, started purring again, and made me go back to sleep. The next day, I was better. My mom looked at me and said, "Why is there a scab on your nose?" Yep ... my cat cleaned the skin off my nose and helped me through the fever. 🤭

Helpful hope yeah when I had a headache once I let my cat in the room and he layed down right next to my face and purred, my mom had told me a cat's purr heals you because of it's frequency and surprisingly it worked and my headache went away, I think cats are better than dogs

Fun fact. In 1994 is was bitten by a feral kitten. The rangers cleaned up the wounds and advised that even if they captured an orange kitten, there was no way to make sure it was "my" kitten. They recommended I go straight to the emergency room and get rabies shots. Oh, and did I mention I was pregnant at the time and NO research has ever been done, either with lab rats or rabbits, so they had no idea if it could effect my baby but, if I didn't get them and I was exposed to rabbies and developed into symptoms, it would be too late to treat me and we'd lose me and my baby girl. So, I got them. 1st set in the buttocks and the rest of them in my arms (they no longer give them to your tummy). It all turned out alright. I have a healthy daughter and my ER doc said he was going to write a paper about us. And the final note I'm bolstered for life with only needing 1set of shots to reactivate the original boosters I got way back when in 1994. Not that I'm EVER going to try to capture another feral animal lol

‘Cat scratch fever’ is one disease that is very important for all pregnant women to know about. Medically known as Toxoplasmosis, it can be very damaging to the unborn baby - - especially during the first 3 months of development. A coworker friend who was not near nor had ever emptied cat litter box but when her child was born, many many seizures and retardation. Her now grown daughter, has the mental maturity of a preschooler - - except can not read, write, nor ever take care of herself.

This comment is for 7:19 in the video. Another really weird thing about lampreys that scientists discovered when studying them. Is that they're oddly repelled specifically by certain kinds of man's spit. It doesn't exactly work for everybody, it probably has to do with what the person eats or smokes. But it's pretty damn weird you could spit into a bucket of lampreys and they all jump out. ✌️

I have a dog named Dave and I love him and he is a good boy
I had to receive the rabies vaccines a few months ago and the most brutal was the RIG (rabies immunoglobulin) as that has to be injected around the wound site - in this case, the palm of my hand which is packed with nerve endings. After 'fishing' the needle around the open wound, the site had doubled in size from the swelling and added liquid. ...Still worth not worrying myself into a panic attack about dying a horrifically painful, inevitable death though! Especially considering it can stay dormant up to a decade, then surprise, the dog bite a guy gets during a trip to Brazil 8 years prior earlier kills him
My cat freaked out and bit me on the arm really hard. Next day I woke up to my arm swelled to three times it's size. In hospital for 4 days on the strongest antibiotics they had and still almost lost my arm. If a cat bites so hard it punctures your skin, get to a hospital right away because the bacteria in their mouths is NO JOKE.

@@BeAmazed The muscles in my arm are still damaged from it. I had my Maine Coon cat down at my moms and he lost his mind. I'm glad he bit me and not her, all four canines went all the way in. A puncture injury like that does not allow the bacteria to be totally cleaned out, the holes close up almost immediately and trap the bacteria under the skin.

I ran into a couple of flat worms in GA. I knew not to even touch it but definitely figured out to pour salt on them.
I was at a a reptile zoo in Ontario Canada back in the early 90s. Their star attraction was a massive alligator snapping turtle. It was hard to see in the murky water but it appeared to be over 5 feet long and it's head was nearly as big as mine. It was believed to be a few hundred years old and didn't look like it had been missing any meals.

Venomous = IT bites YOU, YOU die! Poisonous = YOU bite IT, YOU die!
I am a bit suprised you didn't mention baleen whales because they have the most flat out poweful tongue of any animal in on the planet . . powerful enough to crush bones . . that's because it takes a lot of force to squeze out half of their weight of water trough the thinn gaps in the baleen

If I wasn’t afraid of the ocean before, Now i am.
my buddies uncle died due to complications from rabies. he was fucking around with a racoon he cornered in his garage and it ended up biting his wrist. when he was told that he should get it treated at the hospital, he said it was only a small bite and that he was "no pussy" and ignored his gf's advice. by the time he realized the severity of his situation, it was too late and the treatment he underwent was just to give him some comfort until he passed on. one of many unfortunate and avoidable deaths because of extreme masculinity
There might not ever be Cone-snail antivenom since each cone-snail has their own cocktail of venom at their disposal.

yes if you have open injuries even something as small as a cut don’t let your pets lick you and if you get a bite or scratch from your pet regardless of the type of pet and size of the injury immediately disinfect your scratch or bite with medical alcohol ideally the stuff you get from the hospital and clean it thoroughly my mom got a scratch from one of our cats and didn’t properly clean and disinfect it and ended up with a nasty little infection and a very swollen arm and had to stay home for a bit and go to the doctor and get antibiotics

As a kid, we were on holiday in another continent. I was swimming when I suddenly felt horrendous pain in my foot. Perhaps it was this snail, I still don't know to this day. As a rule I would avoid travel to other continents as our bodies aren't built for it as well as that we haven't developed a culture around the environment and thus don't know its dangers. Especially for children I think it's bad.
When my cat licks me it usually is very rare, and it's also cute. I love cat licks, and they usually aren't even prickly feeling.
