Network Camping EP18 4K Finding solo Overland wild camping spots, Wild Atlantic Way, Discovery 3,LR3

My father bought a van when I was a kid. It previously delivered tyres. Painted on the sides were the words "More Miles, More Smiles". Over the years the more bleached and more rusty the sides of that van became the funnier these words became. There is a metaphor for a dealing with the trials of getting older in that story.
In this car camping overland story I am answering the logistical challenge of trying to help my father along with the rest of our family in order to return him to home and to health by being in several different places as required. We got him home, but within this trip was a cure for more than just logistics.
4 different camps are explored in this video, 2 others are also looked at but they did not work out. Some you win, some you lose, but we won this one.
Wishing you all more miles and more smiles

Notwithstanding the fact that this was an escape within a series of visits, there is so much!!! time and effort gone into creating this content that you have kindly shared with us, and it has not gone unnoticed. Some really beautiful shots, far too many to list, the B roll , the story telling, the while edit . . .its a great piece. Thanks for having us along.

Hi Cormac. Thank you. You never really know for sure if you’re getting things across at a pace that works unless somebody takes the time to say so. After all the time trying to stitch this tale into something that I believe says what I wanted to say, your comment and those like it are very gratifying. Much appreciated.

Robin , what can I say... you beautifully capture the essence and rehabilitation that a bit of ‘me time' can bring. The serenity of each moment contrasts so well against the backdrop of challenging conditions, both personally and climatologically! I’m pleased for what I hope was the happy ending you mentioned. Thank you again for finding and sharing these unique spots along the Wild Atlantic Way - it is truly inspiring. Once again, you have a gift for finding the perfect balance between adventure, family connection, and personal reflection. You show us the beauty of Ireland through your eyes and narrative and encourage us to explore and find our own escapes (and cures) in nature - Thank You!

Thank you Paul. I appreciate your comment very much. Your comment shows very clearly that the message transmitted matches that which was received. Whether your medium is music, poetry, literature, photography, painting or videography the very human satisfaction in communication I think comes mostly from knowing that the description in your story of place or emotion remains true to the viewer and that the message of value has remained intact and it therefore is proved worthwhile.

Hi Robin. Well I found that 35 minute video was the "Perfect cure" after a 12 hour shift. You managed to fit so much into it, excellent camp spots, beautiful scenery and perfect coffee making. Really enjoyable and thought provoking. 👍

Incredible these Timelapses with star trails 😍

Here’s is the bit that broke my heart from a camera geek point of view. The star lapses are simply phone camera footage I took of my star lapses playing on my iMac. I took them simply to give my siblings a quick WhatsApp preview. The original star lapses were amazing and matched with time lapses into sunrise that I would have merged. They included moon shadows drifting across the mountainscapes and were the best footage I have ever got. However while transferring the data I lost the lot. It was a very bitter pill to take. I tried everything and everyone to get them back but it was not to be. The only solution is to go out and get some more.

Holy god Robin! That was fantastic - wonderful images and varying angles, how many cameras have you on the go!?!? The editing was just gorgeous..I was transfixed! I have my visitor from NZ over again and we both thoroughly enjoyed watching that. I hope your father is doing ok..not exactly sure what was happening in the supporting scenes of the driving between places but it certainly allowed for a healing cure no doubt! A beautiful tribute for your Dad…such amazing locations, hidden gems available to us all when we take some turns off the road to check places out. That really was brilliant Robin - for an amateur movie - when the regular job runs its course you’ll have plenty to occupy yourself with and create!! So bloody good!! 👏😎

Ah Miriam, there is an enthusiasm in what you have written here that fills me with a grin that runs a good bit deeper than the surface. Very special to receive this from someone who both understands the process but also the prize in this type of exploring. Furthermore someone who also does a really great job of this type of story telling. In the earlier days you were an early voice in giving the newbie a leg up. I’m pleased as well to hear that your NZ visitor is evidently a reciprocating part of your own much evolved story. Thats a happy story and certainly worth a second grin. A lot of the bits in between camps were just getting things sorted for my Dad. Changes needed around the house and things like that. The three siblings from the sibling camp last year were stronger than ever in this endeavour. I used two GoPros, an iPhone 12 Pro and a Mavic 2zoom drone for all the footage in this video. My poor computer was wheezing and puffing at the amount of cards I filled so much so that I actually lost my most precious footage. Still, my profession teaches me much of redundancy, and so I still had enough to tell the tale.

Brilliant video, huge effort! We started a channel called west Cork wander last year. The place is amazing down here. When our house is renovated I plan to camp and explore like yourself. Perhaps on some of the islands too!! I hope you get passed 1000 subs soon and U start earning some petrol money. U put in a lot of effort and I suspect it won't be long till your channel takes off. Thanks from another Robin with another 2005 Disco 3 😊

Holidays should not be once a year. They should be stolen from every spare chance we can find. Life’s too short to wish away waiting for a far off time when there’s also chances to see things after work or wherever else you find your chance. Glad you enjoyed it and I think also understood it.

Funnily enough I’ve been commuting to work on an e bike for a year now (3000km😎) and I’ve been wondering about its potential to go further. Range, charging and the logistics of that is interesting. Sometimes a vehicle is a hindrance in the hunt for a wild camp.
