Actually,their time is unlikely to come any time soon. I too like the Dutch but despite producing some truly great players over the years(robin van persie isn't on that list)they are perennial underachievers,the Tottenham hotspurs of international football.

Dutch is one of the closest languages to English. We have common ancestry. As you say though football expresses itself in the emotion written over people's faces, the synchronised roar when the ball hits the back of the net or palms touching foreheads when its against our own team.

I saw an article yesterday that apparently the dutch fans were being violent towards the English, then I saw livestreams of Dutch and English fans, talking together, laughing together, drinking together, dancing together and just having a good time. I'm English and I disagree, it was a penalty it was high and reckless. Actually it was bad defending should of used his big frame just to block the shot, vvd probably would of done this. But that's my opinion everyone will have one! But I do agree the Dutch fans are fantastic!

Never a penalty. Went to watch NL beat Ireland at Anfield in '95. Actually went to watch Ireland beat NL but that didn’t happen! Still, great occasion before, during and after the match thanks to wonderful Dutch supporters.

I think not having Frankie De Jong available became a major blow as the Dutch teams’s midfield creative spark and being able to win the ball back and create spaces. Without him, I think the Dutch team reaching the semis was a good end result for this tournament.

Fair play to the Dutch supporters, they were very gracious in a defeat that must be very difficult to take. Chin up guys. You have a good team!

I was in Berlin recently just before the Holland Vs Austria game. The Dutch fans lit Berlin up with their fun and laughter around the city. Zero trouble just great fans and a pleasure to observe.

Love the dutch, our fans and theirs are one in the same, same energy by far the 2 best lots of fans in the world. It was a good game and although we had the best first 65, dutch started coming on strong and it was looking worrying for us going into extra time but the subs changed the game. Absolutely devastating for them, but absolutely exhilarating for us. This is football.

Fantastic fans and very gracious in defeat. Netherlands was always my second team in my youth, mostly because I loved watching the fans, but it was also the golden era of Dutch football with some of the best players of all time dazzling us with their skills. I'm sure that it would be an amazing experience to be over there with them hosting a tournament. UEFA/FIFA/Netherlands, make it happen.

As an England who was in Dortmund, you guys were great fans, your brass band stopping outside a pub full of English to play God Save the King and Sweet Caroline was class. You had a great turnout, unlike the Spanish who haven't even been seen in Berlin yet!

I worked with many Dutch people, and they are the best. I worked in Gran Canaria for a while and remember going to bars with Dutch people. Our cultures are very similar and have a lot of respect for them. I feel your pain!

I’ve always rooted for the Dutch team in the World Cup when they’ve still been in it after our home teams been knocked out. They have produced some legends over the years, and I’m going back as far as Cruyff, Van Basten, Gullit etc.

It was a brave effort by the Dutch to reach a major semifinal. Even the horrible defeat to France in their first match of Euro 2024 qualifying phase, they still went all the way to the semifinal. They really show a lot at this year tournament.

Dutch fans are absolutely brilliant and bring so much atmosphere and colour to every tournament they take part in . If i wasnt english I would love to be dutch as they are very much like us and had some fantastic teams and players for as kong as i can remember..huge respect to every dutch fan 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱

I'm English and was relieved and delighted we scraped home. Congratulations to those great Dutch fans. No complaints or mention of that soft penalty. We were just so lucky.
