    I’m going to make my decision today. I have Spectrum and I’ll be plugging my mesh system into the back of their router like my current Orbi system is. I have 1 gig of download speed that I’m not getting with my current Orbi system. Which one of these 3 do you recommend? Money is not a problem. Thanks!!!

    Hi, I really love your videos and I am very curious if you’re also going to review the newly released Orbi 770 system. Price seems to be much more reasonable compared with the high-end Orbi 970. Would be very interesting if the performance decreases as much as the price or if you can’t really notice the difference.

    The new 770 came out. Do you know how is that rank compare with the 960? If most of the device support wifi 6e and fiber internet is up to 2GB.

    I have a question maybe you or your followers may be able to answer. I correctly have 1GB Comcast internet and use 3 MoCa adapters, one for each floor to get close to ethernets speeds in the house because I purchase a prebuilt house with no ethernet connections pre configured. I have access to Fios but the only place I have a connection is in the kitchen. If I get WiFi 7 with a 3 satellite solution for each floor can I get 1GB connection across the satellites on just WiFi. Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, I have IQ Fiber 5 Gig Up and Down speeds service. Connected the 970 router to it. The 970 speed test within the Orbi App is close to the 5 gig up and down. However, when standing in front of the 970 router and using a Iphone 15 Pro Max and also testing the Samsung Galaxy S23+ which both have 6E, I don't get more than 1.5 to 1.6 or so up and down speeds. Is there something to do in the Orbi 970 router settings to get more speeds or am I limited by the devices which are only 6E? Thanks for your help.

  • @landpet

    @landpet

    2 ай бұрын

    You are limited by those devices, you need a wifi 7 device like the galaxy s24 ultra or oneplus 12 to get faster speeds. 970 also provides fast wireless backhill speeds

    I have an Orbi RBR50 and it has been a champion mesh system. I purchased it 8 years or so ago and I want to upgrade soon! I am really looking at the Orbi 970, my speed is 1 Gb with my ISP, and I know is probably not necessary to get the Orbi 970, but I think I will be upgrading my speed soon as well. All this is an investment, but in my opinion is well worth it.

    Did you happen to test any of your 2.4 ghz devices against all 3 routers? I would be interested to see if older devices experience improved range with the more powerful radio in the 970 series.

  • @landpet

    @landpet

    I don't test devices outside of just checking if they work. I just check my ring cameras and smart light switches to see if there are any issues but no issues happened with any of these. I can't say if the 970 is better for something like that or not, it might be but 2.4GHz typically has pretty good range with slow speed so I don't see them having a huge difference between all three.

    Wifi 7 has amazing wireless backhaul speeds but if you have a really good wifi 6 or 6e system with solid wireless backhaul speeds, then it wouldn't be much different for those speeds. Bottom line is it depends which router or mesh it's being compared against.

    Orbi 970 (2 pack), concrete is not exactly signal friendly since Orbi 970 can go beyond gigabit for wireless backhaul, you may get your full speeds with this.

    Would getting an 860 with 4 satellites be better than a 970 with 2 satellites? I have a very LONG church building and just trying to figure out which is the best solution for us

  • @landpet

    @landpet

    3 ай бұрын

    The satellites will start to lose speed after a while. Will you be doing wired or wireless backhaul? For wired, I would definitely go with 860. For wireless, the 970 offers even better speeds. It’s a tough choice, placement and size of the place also make a difference. If it’s a large open space, one alone will cover a fairly large area. It’s hard to say without knowing more about the building but as a general statement the 860s will have more overall coverage since there are more of them.

    @@landpet Thanks for that info. Amazon was having a sale for the 860 with 4 satellites. I bought an extra one just in case. The church was built in 1905, there is thick brick, a new underfloor heating system, water based) and plaster everywhere. The length of the building is around 200 ft long over two floors. I have the Main Router in the middle of the upper floor. I'll have one satellite wired to one end of the user floor. The rest will be placed throughout the building. One main reason I need coverage everywhere is I need video doorbells on both ends. There are two entrances and sometimes deliveries only go to one door etc. Im hoping to get the rest covered wireless. in total the 86 with 5 satellites was 1500 dollars. I would love the 970 but with just 3 satellites would run about 2800 dollars. just not in the budget If you have an email I can send over my floor plan (im UK based). Ill take any help I can get

    Thank you for answering some of my questions with this video. Like, i dont need a wifi 7 device to take advantage of the wifi 7 mesh/router but it would be better to have one for MLO. It also shows some decent speed for back comoatibility. My scenario is, i want to buy a tplink wifi 7 mesh to test out and make content upon but i only have wifi 6 capable phone and wifi 6e capable laptop but 6.0Ghz is not yet available in my country xD

    a fast wireless system would be useful not just for folks who have more than a 1gig connection. you might want fast wifi if you have a nas and want to connect to it wirelessly via mobile, television, pc at the fastest possible speeds when you're in your home...the 3gbps you were showing. of course, the nas would need a 2.5 or 10gbe connection to achieve that speed, but the use case is there. these mesh and all-in-one router/wifi devices have one thing going for them that companies like Ubiquiti don't on their consumer AP's, fast physical connections of 10gbe so you don't get bottlenecked wirelessly.

    Big big problem as I found out with WiFi 6 orbis onwards....they've removed the 'topology' setting . There is NO way to force one satellite to connect to another rather than the router. Tried some Orbis this past weekend thinking the backhaul would improve speeds. I could not get my orbi in the attic to connect to the satellite on the middle floor, it would connect directly to the router instead. Speeds were poor and there was nothing I could do about it. My decos are back up and their app allows me to connect each node to one another or the router, it allows me to force devices to connect to a particular node. Disappointed with Netgear removing functionality rather than improving it.

    @Usefulhacksfreeofcharge Yep, it's not their for WiFi 6 mesh Orbi's onwards. I had the orbis in AP mode at first thinking that was the problem, so then set them up in Router mode and nope, topology was missing. There's quite a bit online about it.

    @@BrettL250 Eer no, what a weird reply. I'm saying that a very helpful feature which was present in their WiFi 5 systems, is not available in their WiFi 6 systems. And that forcing a new node to connect to another node rather than the router itself, is a feature of almost all other mesh systems. Creating a chain through the house, can improve speeds especially if you have backhaul...and orbi not keeping their topology feature is a step backwards.

    As I see, ORBI 860 lacks of 160MHz channel width, so it totally sucks in the speedtest and working on the same speed, as WiFi5. If it will have 4x4 at 160MHz, then he would have the same speed as 960.
