I heard so much about fifty shades of grey so I tried watching it and I couldn't even get half way through the first movie. First of all, it was boring asf, and second of all.. Gross? I mean I was 13 at the time and my brain couldn't process what was happening but it was somehow bland as well. I used to read so much Wattpad when I was 13 so I was like this won't be too weird but I still hated it. The mix of bland and weird didn't sit right lmao.

My favorite scene is the one where he's like "let me show you what you're missing" and then proceeds to GET A BLOWJOB? like he doesn't do anything for that other woman's pleasure, he just gets his business slurped? is this supposed to be a sales pitch?

SPOILERS the next two books summarised (apparently) : the girl is kidnapped again, she falls in love with the second kidnapper. massimo gets her back, they get married, she gets a dog. the girl ends up getting back with the other kidnapper because she loved him more than massimo and long story short, massimo killed her dog and sent her it’s dead body as revenge.

The fact that the main actor sang most of the songs on the soundtrack still sends me. This just makes it more wattpad-y and I screamed during the entire viewing of the film.

can we just talk about how this film glorified stockholm syndrome, r*pe (most of the stuff they did was non-consensual from her part until 3/4 of the film) and kidnapping? there is so much wrong with this film and it just concerns me that this was allowed to be made into a film.

It’s definitely very common in Quotev (I read one of these stories. It’s very well written since it’s doesn’t portray the whole kidnapping, blackmailing, and abuse stuff as romantic. Literally, for the majority of the story, the main character is trying to escape and get back to her family. Every time she talks with a mafia member, it’s like she’s walking on glass. She has to do whatever she can to survive)

I mean, I kinda get that. Not from a moral standpoint but the “sexual fantasy” one. The internal logic is that a person is so into you that they’ll get you no matter what, same with sexual assault(as gross as that sounds). I hate it when people make this argument becuase it's so rooted in misogyny and irrelevant to the conversation. It implies that it should be as attractive as if an ugly guy does it. It shouldn't be attractive at all?! It abusive and manipulative. a lot of yall are basically generalizing Wattpad books. yes, there are a lot of books on there that aren't appropriate in any shape or form but there are many more books that actually have a good plot and good writing. they can be cliche or silly but there's nothing wrong with them. yall have just seen the wrong side of Wattpad and decided that the whole entire app and all its content is the same when it's not. I know there are a lot of people who read these books but don't support the idea and plot of it and just read it for fun. and yes, there are a lot of books that have toxic relationships and all but that doesn't mean it's being promoted. it's used as a problem in the book. so we aren't romanticizing them. what I'm saying is try not to judge something by looking at only a small percentage of its content.
