Yeah, same. It's gotta be at least a slight nod to it, and given that PK Love is needed to yank those things, it's also a safe bet that most of Lucas's non-special psychic moves are powered by PK Love (as well as this, note all the hexagonal shapes you see with those moves; PK Love's animations were full of hexagons) Same probably goes for Ness and PSI Rockin'.

Most of that is correct but the one about Lucas's up-smash being him pulling a needle is a little bit of a stretch. When Lucas pulls a needle, light energy goes straight up, not in a hexagonal shape. Yes his action looks like it but Lucas doesn't double over like he's gonna puke when pulling a needle. Just saying.

Ness yellow costume is based off a Japanese baseball team forgot that too.

Before I looked into Earthbound and mother 3 I knew they were from the same series I just assumed Lucas and Ness were best friends. Lol I think Ninten should at least be a palette swap costume for Ness and maybe masked man for Lucas considering they may not be full playable characters til smash really runs out of good roster ideas.

Because that's correct. PK abilities: Elemental attacks + Flash, Ground, Starstorm. PSI abilities: Recovery, Assist, Defense, Buffs, Debuffs, Magnet, etc.

ChapterZee I’m pretty late. But in Earthbound, at least the English version, the elemental stuff + flash, shield, magnet was PSI, everything else has no “Descriptor”.

Uh, notice how Lucas has a lot more mutli-hit moves? Well I like to think there's a reason for that, in Mother 3 there's a rythym mechanic, which if you push the button to the song's beat, then you can hit your opponent multiple times, so maybe that trait carried over to smash? Just speculation

+High Mighty Weasel I always considered his final hit with the neutral A a reference to his father Flint. One of his specials was a round house kick. And Lucas does a roundhouse kick here as well. I like your idea of it possibly incorporating the rhythm mechanic.

+RelaxAlax Buy like a lootcrate, throw everything on the floor, put cat treats on all the "loot" the first think your cat goes to, you keep, donate everything else away. Just like a real crate/chest opening.

Ness has always been my main going back all the way to the glorious 64 days. I've just always been drawn to the way he moves. It's so awesome to see him getting so much love and the recognition he deserves. As for Lucas, I've never attempted to use him before ultimate but I love his pk freeze move. Such a rewarding feeling getting that on a high damage enemy for the win. Although he's a bit trickier to get the hang of in basic combat against more difficult players but I'm learning. Thank you Sakurai and team and thank you Iwata for being the amazing person you were. You gave so much to us in your lifetime and I took a decent break from Nintendo but now that I've heard/learned/seen what Nintendo is all about over the years, I must say that they're equally up there for me next to Sony as being the best gaming giants of all time. God bless gaming.

I just started playing Mother 3 English translated version recently ^_^

I'll never forget when I discovered Ness was in Smash 64. As someone who loved earthbound an played it before smash came out, I was effin blown away that he was in a different game and thought it was the coolest thing ever even though the moves he had didn't make sense to me. Been my main ever since in all smashes.

To be quite honest, I wonder how Bayonetta ranks on the list of "few people who actually played her games", at least, before Smash.

Because of how lucas' PSI freeze moves, and how Ness' PSI Flash can do so much damage, Lucas would be ALOT more overpowered. So that's why he has PSI freeze instead of PSI Flash.
