IMO, this is an even harder maxout to earn, due to how low scoring the first few levels are. Points don't start skyrocketing until after level 9.

True. I only got 37,000 from level 0-11.

Is there a reason why he didnt go for some of the Tetris's when he could have. Seems like he could have avoided having to burn if he did.

game doesnt function on mine it goes to the white screen thats because the pin connector on mine is worn out on the nes

It seems actually that level 9 has only slightly less scoring potential than level 19, because of the 60 extra lines. Level 11 is the optimal balance between getting lots of lines before kill screen and getting lots of points per tetris. It is even slightly better than level 18, but not better than 19. EDIT: according to my calculations, that is.

Is that so? That would mean we could all probably get pbs starting on 11 and just getting insanely high Tetris rates, which would be amazing

@@TylerDunphy Well, the transition is at 100 lines for all levels 9-15, after which it starts rising by 10 lines per level again, making a level 18 start's transition at 130 and a level 19 one at 140. This is caused by a bug in the game's code (basically they forgot to convert between BCD and binary when determining the transition lines number). So anyway, if you start at level 0-9, level 29 will be reached after 290 lines. From level 9 till level 15, it decreases by 10 lines every level, making for 230 lines on a level 15 start, after which the killscreen lines number stays the same again. TL;DR: starting at level 11 gives you more lines to work with, which evens out the lower score per tetris almost perfectly, landing it between level 18 and 19. (according to my calculations I did at 2 am, that is, but they're probably correct)

fghsgh yeah, I understand how the line per level calculation is bugged and all that, I was just wondering if the compensation with Tetris points works out in favor of level 11. I’ll do some calculating and check myself

@@TylerDunphy Sure, I'd be happy if you did even, but don't forget a line clear is counted in the level _after_ it though. So if you start on level 0 and score a tetris that brings you from 6 to 10 lines, that counts as a level 1 tetris, not a level 0 one.

Level 18 has higher scoring potential than level 11, it’s 19 followed by 18, 9 and 11, also, it’s pretty common to have PBs from starts like 9 or 11 when you’re not that good and when you’re beginner, but as soon as the Numbers get to 700ks plus, post transition is usually what matters because players are capable of getting as high transitions on 18 as they are on 9 or 11.
