I played this game for a VERY long time, back in the 90s, and I STILL think about it from time to time. True classic.

same whe n i was kid dude one nightbour friend have it this game and we play her a lot and then for my birthday i got double dragon 3 and i say omg they have new game on that what my friend have dd2 i have it now dd3 that was like i when i got dd3 for first time but yeah how to i say it one nightbour friend have dd2 and it was amazing time too for that i sthink think about it forom time to time too for this 2 games it rly was amazing time and was super fun to play with friend now in pc or ps4 or ps5 we play like 5 people or more and we talk online is cool but this old fun with nes console to be with friend in the front on the tv to play thigs like this old game is just gold mayb have bad old graphics but part of this old games was amazing for that i still think for them time to time too it was rly amazing time i wanna back too it was super fun

Played this after school every day at my buddy's house in 4th grade. His house was before mine on the walk back home from the bus. Good memories. Great game!

This is seriously my most favorite game ever. It's the very first game my brother would let me play with him in his NES so i treasure the memory. Now i got here looking for longplays of those old games i also experienced with and thanks to him... Rediscovering Double Dragon II and its amazing sountrack gave me an epiphany and brought back all those good memories from my childhood.

***** Double Dragon II will always be a classic.....

My first NES game I played. Looking back as an adult, has been joyful. The pesky ninjas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Shadow clones, THE FLYING KNEE and much influence from the legendary anime fist of the north star. And a kick ass sound track.

The flying knee was always essential for me.

+Chris Nata You aren't the only one. I just downloaded this from the Wii U Virtual Console. Had to use a restore point to do it, but I finally beat this game. The controls for the "flying knee" make the ones for the "cyclone kick" look easy.

Heath Wilson That Cyclone Kick from Double Dragon II might be the best kick in the history of video games, but damn, it was very difficult to execute. I found an old school nes a few months ago and bought a few old school games...;) Also that flying knee from DDII the revenge is a sweet ass move but once again, difficult to execute. As far as the pro wrestling game...Star Man will always rule.

+bs2455 For me too. The "Flying Knee" (in my opinion) is easily the best move in the game. Bosses even seem to die a lot faster with this move, lol. Plus it is entertaining to bounce enemies off the walls hard xD.

DepriverOfSouls No doubt. The enemies cannot fuck with the flying knee. I have the hyper-uppercut down pat, but I struggle with the hyper knee.

Love this game. One of the best on NES.

I always thought Double Dragon II was the best because it provided more levels than the first and the third.

I saw the james and mike mondays playing this and i wanted to see the real final boss and ending,so i came here to watch that.

Derek Stewart Well green hair is ok i guess for a double dragon game,games like those made by japan share the same style in many parts in their culture they have.I believe the most bizzare looking vilain was in double dragon neon,a skeleton warior style character with the voice of skeletor.How far you can go after that?

One of the most face-kicking soundtrack of all nes games!

Awesome. One of the best beat em up games of album time. Hail Double Dragon.

Man oh man, I used to be incredibly good at this game, back in the day! I remember my cousin and I would play practice mode over and over and over again, until finally my cousin said "let's just try playing the game for real for once!" and we went on supreme master and did awesome until the jumping parts. I have to say, I remember using the NES Max controller, and becoming a master at the "Hyper Knee." Holding down both turbo buttons at the same time on the Max made doing that move much easier. The Hyper Knee, IMO, is the most powerful and useful move in the game, so if anyone is wanting to play this game and do well, that's my advice. Master the Hyper Knee! Not only does it do awesome damage, but it's actually helpful with jumps as well.

Here are some tricks from an ooold gamer: 1) If you beat up Jimmy, you get his energy. So you can start the game with more lives. 2) Lure the first boss to the ledge on the opposite side, and then knee him off the roof. 3) The ninjas before the ghost fight: Walk up and down to trick the ninjas into jumping off at the bottom. 4) If you jump, the ghost cannot get inside you and beat you. 5) When throwing a pipe, do it when the bad guy is up close. The pipe will then travel through him and hit the other guy behind him.

I remember seeing the commercial for this game and was so excited at the graphics looking more like the characters in the versus mode in the original double dragon. Great times.

Damn, P2 has the timing down on the knee. I could only ever do it by accident.

This was one of my brother's and my favorite games to play on the NES! We'd play it through and then immediately play it through again.

Now this is what you call, a Great Nes Video Game, can't wait 2 see all the Classic Nes Video Games, come on that Mini Old Nintendo, Video Game System. Should be A Blast from the past.

LOL that first stage boss was kicking their asses for a good period of time. I didn't see the Cyclone Spin Kick used until Mission 5! Might have taken 10 minutes off the game. You did it the hard way, I'm impressed !

Awesome job guys. You did it! It's very hard to do the supreme master difficulty. I laugh'ed hard at the last boss finish. Nice....

The music (including the title screen music) is a semitone (half step) lower in pitch than other NES Double Dragon 2 videos I've seen and also lower than the Double Dragon 2 nes rom I play. Why is this? Is the video slowed down?

Games used to be so hard, and when they were polished, like this one, you knew you were a scrub for dying and failing. I still haven’t conquered some on these games I started trying to beat since I was like 6yo and I probably will never stop trying. This god damn game right here chief among them.

Interesting, the pitch is a step down from the game's official soundtrack. What do you guys use to play and record?

I think the "Flying Knee" is done by one fluid motion of Down, Down toward (diagonal) , Toward + Kick. Absolutely love that move in Double Dragon 2: The Revenge =p. 35:26 COOOOOONNNNNCCCCUUUUUSSSSIIIIOOOONNNN!

Wow, that story about the Angel descending from Heaven and bringing the Double Dragon's girlfriend back to life just came out of nowhere.

33:12 that moment is kinda creepy, or rather, unsettling for me... There is no music, and you see Marian (who is dead) blankly staring at you, and when you approach her, that bizarre sound plays and she disappears into the darkness...

12:56 guess he had to stop and go take a Piss.....lol :P

Half of what kept getting me hit in general in this game were the screwed up controls. Got too used to the original Double Dragon controls and assumed which button did what in this one. The thing with which button is for punching and the other for kicking.

Better than Arcade Version, not because the style..well the style is good, but story is great, in the arcade Marian gets killed off completely, but in the nes she does get killed also, but resurrected and alive again in Billy's arms, a perfect ending, all and all The best Double Dragon game period, my also second favorite is Double Dragon V! That's right, since I might the only person who likes the game.

Game devs from 97 onward have largely failed to capture what these highly polished nes games were able to.

I remember this game. :) Always was laughing at this "backward" kick move.

the last boss was a one tough bastard ! Also getting through his temple was a pain.

oh it definitely was. the 2nd arcade was the same as the first with just different characters and minor tweeks to the look of the levels.

the final boss is the shadow master (the main/arch villain of the dd cartoon). jimmy joins billy and shadow master takes charge of the black/shadow warriors. as good as neon was I hope the next dd game is based on the cartoon. look at all those batman arkham games, they were based on the animated series and that show went off the air over a decade ago. double dragon 2 the revenge is one of the best sequel games ever and if they ever do a remake but based on the cartoon I'll buy it.

"They're escaping in that chopper. You'll never make it!" I would've had a 3rd pic of the guy getting thrown off the edge or beat to death and have the line "No one tells the Lee Brothers that they'll NEVER MAKE IT!" (POW BOOM SMASH)

Yeah, his weren't tool assisted, he'd practice till he got good enough at a game, then would record his footage. Miss the guy, his playthroughs were fun. These days, Nintendocomplete has kind of taken up the mantle of playthroughs, not sure if his are tool assisted or not though.

Crime still grew, even after the nuclear war, even after an asteroid leveled the city, even after the terminators, the mile hight tidal wave. And then even after the borg invasion, crime grew.

I once beat the final boss with a super slow-motion normal punch. Also, when face the purple ninja bosses, all u have to do is tornado kick them 3 times and they die. But nice finishing move there.

What the knee is on DD2 is what the elbow is in DD1

I used to spam flying knee kick all the way to the final boss

I used to play this with my brother and the friendly fire is on. I just kept trolling them, then wouldnt want to play with me anymore haha.

There is a cheat if you play two player with friendly fire but only have one player and you beat up the bad guys in the first area you can keep beating up and killing your brother and his lives transfer to you. You can have I believe 7 or 8 lives on your player if you keep doing it until Jimmy is out of lives.

I must be missing something, b/c I don't see a whole lot of knees or cyclone kicks.....

I can't believe the last boss looks like the ultimate warrior and Blanka from street fighter too. Marian is pretty hot. If I were a double dragon, I would do her for sure. 😆

Supreme Master is no more difficult than the "Warrior" difficulty. In order to fight the last guy, you need to select the SM difficulty.

@LaVeyCharkusVeros Really, the only difference in Supreme Master mode is that you actually get the ending. Even a n00b like me can beat this game, just barely, though.

Now y'all know that when you play a NES game that you do not fight an enemy off screen; that'll get you funked up! On

I never understood: is Marian the girlfriend of BOTH Dragons?

It clearly said in the story before the game begins that Marian is BILLY'S girlfriend. Only reason both brothers are going for it is cause her death hurt both of them. If I were Jimmy, I wouldn't Billy going off on a quest for vengeance alone.
