No deaths, no hits play through, and I had to cheat to get to Death? I don't know if I want to punch the guy for humiliating me or have his children for being so awesome.

Great job with the perfect run, I’m several years late but sharing secrets and exploits is timeless. At the hallway before Queen Medusa, stand still at the 4th blue arch you come across, and a secret money bag will appear. In the Mummy room, if you walk against one of the block walls, you will reveal a secret money bag, but it is unreachable. After you fight 2 skeletons in stage 13’s second room, run up against a right wall adjacent to stairs. It will reveal a secret 1-UP, the only one in the entire game. In Stage 14’s big laboratory room, there are 2 spots to stand still in to reveal secret money bags. The first is in front of the rightmost red science flask after you come down from the stairs. The second is at the leftmost wall (where the red gate is) before the door itself. I also noticed that Dracula’s second form never shot fireballs in the video. Is there a specific exploit tied to that?

This really takes me back this was the second game i got in the 80s when i was a kid

Watching your playthrough inspired me to revisit this game. I've killed the human form of Dracula but still need to figure out the toad bird one 😂. Amazing skills you've got there, you bend Death over your knee.

Hello, thanks for pointing out the other secrets. I've just played the game again and confirmed that they all work (there's in fact one more in the area right before the one in 15:47). I'm going to incorporate getting these into my habitual playthrough from now on, please let me know if you know of any more. As for save states, I assure you that none was used because I despise them. Honestly if I were to use them I wouldn't even move so conservatively against the medusa heads and crows!

I thought the player was going to use the holy water/fire bomb to do it, did it a harder way without getting hit.

I have to ask: Was this a TAS playthrough? There were some extremely close calls in this video. If not, I'm absolutely stunned. The Mummies trick you used was downright awesome. I'll definitely keep that in mind for my next playthrough. :]

Oskar Martinez I know right? Bought the anniversary version to the switch after I saw this video, figured it couldn’t be that hard. Hate the Medusas, the jumping thingies (even more when they’re dropped from the skies) and then they pull this shit? Still haven’t managed to kill Dracula but I’m getting there.

Well done! I did a couple of playthroughs without subweapons and no death, they are on my channel, but this was really cool too. I like the idea to use every subweapon and nice that you choosed the axe against Grim Reaper. No damage, maybe I should try that some time.

Still have this one in the collection, bought it years ago, boxed (box not in the greatest condition) at a pawn shop for under $10. I used to beat it regularly, and got to the point I could 1 life the game on a real console. Sadly those days are long over though, still can play the game as I still have 2 NES models (toaster and toploader) but the skills have eroded due to age and nonpractice.

Nice run! My latest accomplishments were: - Beating Frankenstein (up close start) with a whip without getting hit once - Beating Frankenstein (far start) with a whip without getting hit once - Beating the Grim Reaper with a whip without getting hit once My new challenge is to beat the Grim Reaper (second time around) using only whip, and without getting hit. Let me know if you would be interested in taking this on. It's really challenging.

@@esands36 Nah, bro. You just have to be aggressive with the axe knights. You can hit both elevations of axe while standing as well, so you just whip them, take a few steps, whip them, and repeat. I'll agree on the skeletons though. They're probably the only enemy in the game I can't completely avoid still.

Hello and sorry, but what's a TAS playthrough? Which places did you find were close? Often there's a trick involved that forces the computer to behave in certain ways (most famous being the bats in the last level), maybe I can point them out to you. Lots of them are useful even in other kinds of playthrough!

thinking most people found out the hard way the time-stop watch doesn't work on any bosses past Medusa. Only thing is I think the player uses some kind of glitch to kill the mummies so fast, could that be considered cheating?

The hit boxes basically double up for each when their paths cross, enabling a ton of damage in a very short amount of time.

Im playing this on an emulator site and Dracula V2 here is NOTHING like the version im playing. 1: It takes more than 2 whip hits to drop an HP point from him. 2: There is no fucking way Simon can run under him. He doesn't jump high enough and I end up running into his legs. I know this game is legendary for it's difficulty, but I even had the holy water, and I thought I lucked out when I picked up an X2 from one of Drac 2's fireball projectiles. Guess what? Even spamming him with holy water at twice the speed to stun him, and he still let loose with the fireballs and killed me. Which brings up another question, why isn't he using his projectiles in this playthrough video? I thought I was playing a direct portr of the original NES game but something is definitely off here. Also, the zombies in level 1 that I have been facing, are blue skinned with white cloth. Not the pink guys in this version. Edit: Just beat this fucker. I lucked out and picked up another 2x for the Holy Water. Just spammed the shit out of it and my trigger thumb was cramping up trying not to give that bastard Dracula V2 one second of attack time.

I couldn't even get passed the first stupid boss >X3

that boss is too fucking easy, always you have to do is use the clock timer thingy and then press b and a at the same time

it's doable with a glitch that causes enemies to take damage on every frame if their sprites overlap. maybe check up before leaving stupid comments

Just stand in that same spot that he did in the video for a few seconds and it appears. There’s a few secret items throughout the game that you have to just stand in a spot and wait and they’ll appear.

Your claim to have gotten all the secrets is false. You missed no less than 3 secrets. From looking at your strategies and movements I got the feeling that you were using save states as well. Missed secrets are 6:22 14:10 15:47
