Nerf flintlock anything is so impractical (or really flintlock in general unless you're a felon) but cool at the same time ... I want one. Although, what's interesting is that the already long reload still isn't as long as it would take to reload an actual flintlock, and imagine having to do that under pressure in line formation; early modern warfare was terrifying and brutal.

Paper cartridges were a huge deal in reloading a muzzle loader of any kind. I have a Uberti colt 1861 navy in 36 cal and the reload is abysmal with loose powder, but paper cartridges actually make it practical to load quickly and on the move. And a capper speeds up the priming process. Obviously not as fast as a cartridge revolver, but not far behind it.

Guy who designed the 3D printed version here! I was surprised just how much they stole for the outer shell - they just copied the stock and cut it down :p there was no reason to copy the octagon profile or very straight handle if they were going to injection mold it. That said, glad they were able to put in the work to upgrade the internals.

I followed your shop since the first iteration of the first model you released a long time ago. Never thought I'd actually get a printer anytime soon but I have goals to use it for mold master production for casting, and the second I got it the very first models I bought were every single one you made aside for maybe the desk cannons 😂

I've purchased and printed several of your models. They're fantastic. I've wanted a good "nerf" flintlock for a long time and your designs did not disappoint. I particularly love the version that uses a cap in the pan, coupled with a sprinkle of baby powder in the barrel after it's primed and loaded for a puff of "smoke" from the barrel when it's fired. Makes for an authentic experience. I just had this video recommended to me, and I thought for sure you had partnered with the sellers because it's clear they used a ton of your component models to create their product. It's a bummer hearing that they apparently just outright stole them. From what's shown in the video, the upgraded internals don't even yield that much of an improvement (if any) compared to what I get with your 3D printed versions. Plus darts over balls in a flintlock? Yuck. Please people, don't give companies like this your business.

@@RapidRoach They arrived today. Heavy and sturdy feeling with some rough edges and even some slight staining but otherwise fine and very robust They work really well, however; you don't actually need to use the rod to put the dart in; you just put it in by hand and that's it. I actually tried pushing the dart in with the rod the first time, like Jarek demonstrates, it jammed in the barrel, and I had to remove to barrel to get it out again. Hope this helps.

I’m having trouble getting the barrel back in all the way after I removed it to unjam it. Any pointers on getting it back in? I’m thinking the spring might not be down all the way, and that doesn’t allow the barrel to go down all the way. It’s like 3mm shy of all the holes lining back up

I'm surprised it isn't using some form of air tank where you unscrew the ramrod, use that to ram the dart in, then screw it back on and use that as a pump handle. Like shoving a Panther air Tank in there. Would be much cooler imo.

Still need to process that you do Nerf now, always watched your airsoft stuff back when i started with that. I actually got one of these 3d printed blasters, but the wheellock not the flintlock. Really like it but the performance is bad and the rubberband keeps breaking. But this one doesnt look that great with the metal barrel not looking like it was meant to be there and the ramrod falling out is a really bad thing as you carry it muzzle down. Maybe Carnyrex will develop a version of the pistol with a piston, he already has the musket version with a piston

I just did it recently. All you have to do if unscrew the top 3 screws, pull out the barrel, shake out the plunger, and use the ram rod to unlodge the dart. After that, it's pretty easy to put back together. The annoying part is one of my screws was a pentagon shape, but I happened to have a screwdriver set that had a driver head for that. I also added a little extra lube to the plunger and the prime feels a lot smoother.
