Allison Williams has a smart take on this as well. “All the people are looking for is an acknowledgment that it’s not a level playing field. Period, end of the story, and no one‘s really working that hard to make it fair. To not acknowledge that me getting started as an actress versus someone with no connections isn’t the same - it’s ludicrous. It doesn’t take anything away from the work that I’ve done. It just means that it’s not as fun to root for me.”

Emily DiDonato was always one of my favorite models to see on TV and in magazines. It’s fun listening to her now, too! She did this commercial for Acqua di Gioia perfume awhile ago and it’s still my favorite commercial of all-time.

What I find ironic about all of these arguments around nepo babies in hollywood, is that the whole slogan about Hollywood is “it’s about WHO YOU KNOW” Let’s be real, there are nepo babies that completely suck at what they do, but they got in the door and stay in the room because of who their parents are and the relationships they have. I bet if you looked at someone who had zero connections in Hollywood and a nepo baby and compared the same amount of auditions they went on before they actually got a job, guaranteed the nepo baby would have a far better record and would most likely have a job, compared to the person who still to this day is just trying to get their foot in the door. Think about how many celebs kids have written scripts, songs and books that just get made into films or published simply because of WHO their parents are and those connections. As compared to nobody’s who have written and are still fighting for a single opportunity. Since we are talking about a model here, let’s look at Cindy Crawford’s kids. In particularly her daughter, who is a virtual clone of her. It’s safe to say she was guaranteed a modeling contract the day she was born. You had agents and major modeling companies looking at her before she was even old enough to start. Now she’s considered one of the “IT” girls in the modeling and fashion industry. How many girls are her age, still trying to get noticed by the same agency she works for? The nepo babies that I can root for are the ones who recognize that they got where they are because of those relationships and not in spite of them.

It’s a relatively new slang term. Nepo is short for nepotism. So a Nepo Baby is slang for a person whos success is influenced by their famous or powerful parents/grandparents/other family members. For example: Kendall Jenner could be considered a Nepo Baby in modeling due to her famous family and their influence or connections.

I agree, this can be EXTREMELY damaging But if you look at it as a family business or trade, it kind of makes sense. You generally do better in your field when you have a mentor that knows all the ins and outs of an industry. They shouldn't be treated differently as in special treatment, but we can't be upset that someone who's lived a life in a trade is better at it than someone who started a couple years ago
