I tried two times and failed. Very tough competition. But the training I did in preparation for joining nearly 4 years makes me very strong physically and mentally for other jobs later and this hope also makes lot of young boys also stay away from drugs and crime because when once they make habit of hard exercise it will be life long habit.

I tried 3 times and failed. I cried a lot in Pokhara. My friend who stop me to cry joined French Legion. I kept my study on. I am doing good with my life. Financially I make not less than them. I suggest young guys, if you pass great if not then put same effort in your study and job. Your life will be even much better.

@Cyborg Gamer give yourself some time to heal brother. It felt devastating for me when I was filtered out at pokhara, it felt like a dream for months and was on the verge of hope that they might have made a mistake and would call me back. I became incapable of separating reality and fantasy! But it took me almost 1 year to heal from this. Now I am studying abroad and make almost as much as a british soldier. So you just need to give yourself some time and be arroubd friends who supports you.

Couldn't stop my tears .. coz boys train so hard for this..not only for themselves but for their families ...😔😔

My husband when he was 17/18 also tried to join British Gurkha following his father, and grand father's footstep, but was unsuccessful. But he always had a dream to be in the Army. Later after many years, he migrated to Australia, and now he is in Australian Army.

Back in the 80's when I was a frontline soldier in the British Army, in 1985 I was in the Falklands for some months, we had a detachment of Gurkhas with us, they were so polite and friendly, I had no idea how hard they had it getting in the British army, its almost embarrassing how different it was for us British guys to get in; even to become a frontline soldiers, hats off to them all and to those that try...

One of my friends with whom I’ve spent almost my entire school life got in the Gurkhas in this exact batch. Dude had great academics and was talented in virtually anything. I feel great for him cause he’s achieved such a rare opportunity but at the same time lil bit sad because the socioeconomic condition of our country is forcing bright youths like him to leave their actual talents and focus on all this just to support their families.

Technically everyone who got rejected are more stronger then who got selected. They are the future of Nepal in my view.

Absolutely right brother. But It's a very long time 3, 4 years, takes for preparation. In the end, they will be far behind than others with no skills and education. A very few can overcome and find their way.

I tried 3 years to get selected in BA but unfortunately couldn’t make it. All that hard training and sacrifice just goes in the vein at that moment when you are pulled out of the group and you step out of that gate. But it was a wonderful experience and I am really proud that I tried and gave my best. It’s not the test it’s the competition that makes it really intense. One of the Guru Ji said that “If you fail don’t be disappointed, it’s not the end”. To everyone who are able to get selected hats off to you and to those who fails/failed like me ITS NOT THE END……… YOU ARE STILL TOO YOUNG TO GIVE UP . After I failed I thought I was a failure but than I said to myself I deserve better. I went back to college and completed my studies. Now I am IT professional, we need to fail to succeed.

Agree can we please find out more about him? The first boy who got sent home is thousands of dollars in debt. If everyone watching this can pitch in a little, we can help him out. He is obviously very hardworking and he deserves a chance at something better - he already went through all that training and was doing well despite a heart condition. That's a winner.

I spent eleven years in the forces and in all that time never heard a bad word said about the Gurkhas, they are without doubt the nicest most friendly people you could ever meet.

I'm really really proud to be a British gurkha.we really work hard alot mentally and physically to get selected this year but really sad for those guys who became unlucky.i can feel the pain. Video is really heart touching 😥 All the best for new selection.

Im nepali and im sad to say that that is almost impossible unless, One day we get a decent leader who doesn’t do everything for money. Also right now (Everyone will deny it but it doesn’t matter because the media brain washed them) Nepal is being Exploited by 2 Giants beside which are India and China. Yes On the News you see "India to Donate 1 BILLION USD to nepal to boost Economy" but in reality Nepal will receive none. This is just to make India look good infront of Nepalese and the nepalese who are veryy INNOCENT will blindly love Their Giant Neighbours who are just Exploiting it badly.

Imagine world war III Breaks out. Its dawn and foggy. You're exhausted. Your sqaud is exhausted. And suddenly you hear this 19:20.

I tried 3 times. I don’t get selected. I was the unlucky one like Amar who got out at final hurdle two times. I can feel and understand the feelingsof Amar how he felt as I went through 15 years ago. But the training I did made me mentally and physically Strong and I am living now wonderful life. Still I regret I couldn’t made the world famous Gurkha brigade. Don’t loose your hope and don’t stop your study if you fail.

I really appreciate these young lads..i was also one of the candidates back in 2008..i did really tried hard for almost six years but i couldn’t make it.Many of my friends are in British Army..The only thing is that we experience lot when we failed at something that we really want in our life.I wish all the best for the the lads who didn’t make it and want to say them don’t lose your hope and just continue your work or education whatever you were doing before..just accept the fate and go on,God has managed something great for you..Congrats who made it

Even though me being from an army family, i would never encourage anyone to join the military. I've got nothing but respect for all our grandfathers who gave their lives so that their next generation can have a better future. But what we also need to understand is that military is not what people think it is. It is an elites game and at the end its always the poor and vulnerable like us that suffers the most.

These young Gurkhas..going through so much to be selected..yet so full of humility. These are the bravest soldiers in the world...proven time & time again.

While watching the entire documentary. I just realised one thing. If you work hard and you succeed then that's great. But, if you don't then not to worry. You, were never meant for that. Maybe, you went to a different direction. There is something meaningful and fruitful awaiting for you somewhere else. The hard work and dedication will really pay you off. Jay Nepal.🙏

One of the reasons that India won the Kargil war was because the Gurkhas were able to scale a 100 foot wall of solid ice. The Pakistanis had left this side of the mountain unguarded because they felt that no one could climb the wall of ice. Once the Gurkhas scaled the wall they were at a higher height than the Pakistanis and had the upper hand.

@@Shubham-dg3rb we have a ritual called kul puja. We celebrare it with all the members of their own respectiv kul devatas . My goddess happens to be Gorakh Kali. I love that culture of my family because we are goddess kali's kul amongst many other different devatas.and Gorkha is just one district name from where unification of nepal began and ended on gardwhal in the west and sikkim in the east. All thanks to maharaj dhiraj prithvi narayan shaha. Om namoh sivay

I salute those Gurkha bravehearts who has laid down their lives to protect the integrity of India since independence.

I had tears in my eyes watching this whole episode. Once i also tried so hard to achive this dream. But badluck i couldnt sucess. I can still freshly remember those day of hard trainings.😔😔. I feel really bad for those young boys whos heart is broken facing those unsucess. This is all because of mass unemployment ,political dreadlock, secure and safe life style that our country is facing that motivated and attracted thousands of youths through out the country . I wish nepal be among those countries where these kinds of problems dosent exist.😭😭

I met some of these Gurkhas when I was working for the MOD in Wales. Small, polite, ferocious with rock solid mentalities. I felt that any one of them could have easily killed me with a flick of a wrist if they've wanted to.

Everyone got something wrong! They are fine men but the best are serving in the nation, Nepal army are best! Everyone here thinking technologies has rusted Gorkha..You will know when Nepal goes into war..Though Nepal is immune from military conflicts.. These men just want money and are muscles for hire..Real Gorkhas serve the Nation on minimum wages..These guys are mongol rooted but Nepal is ruled by Aryans so figure it out..

It's not worth dying in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban for the British. In today's world education is something country should promote being brave alone not gonna help. Instead of fighting a foreign war, these men should study well and push Nepal forward through education, science, and technology. Show bravery if you are protecting your nation, else it's not worth dying for money fighting someone else enemy.

Well in nepal college graduates will not even earn 1/3 of what these soldiers will earn,plus they get every facilities,future secure and their whole family will be secure financially even if they alive or dead,its basically for their family and future childrens,education in nepal can never guarantee any of these thing

Met a cohort of the gurkhas in 2018 heading to the British military base in Nanyuki Kenya. Very sharp lads, definitely left a positive impression

I really appericiate the female reporter job, her voice is so adorable and her hardwork is more beyond than gurkha trainings

The story of the noble Gurkha people and the heroic contributions they have made to the British military has to be one of the most moving and unique of our times. The Brigade of the Gurkhas is legendary and highly respected around the world for its military prowess, fearlessness in battle, and above all, loyalty, discipline, and honor. This is what makes me so sad when I read about the discrimination that Gurkha troops have suffered and the lengths they have had to go to get equal pay, pensions, and even the right to live in the UK after their service. When I started watching the documentary, it seemed to me like it would a no-brainer that these troops would automatically qualify for citizenship. Apparently not. Yet they have been fighting for Britain for as long as the United States has been a Republic. Imagine that!

Yes, i know it will be different when or if Congress wins the election.... But since the majority 2/3rd of the country supports NCP(Nepal Communist Party), its safe to say nepal is a Communist country
