I am in Nepal right now, and I had a chance to go to Khukuri House and talk with the owner's son, Sanjay Lama. He is a great guy and gave me a little tour of his shop. They are the supplier for all of the Khukuris to the military and really make some interesting knives.

I've always admired the khukuris from the Khukuri House. And Gavko reaching out to the Khukuri House is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Digs! They do really good work. I can't miss an opportunity to tease Gav a little bit. He is a fun guy and has been harassed lately by people who think he should be forging.
Wow, you get around (the world)! Thanks for sharing, Tim!

Thanks, Stefan. What they need is one of your very fine reviews on one of their beautiful knives. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.
Mr .Sanjay is absolutely correct , place called " BHOJPUR' is renowned for it's Khukuri all over nepal n abroad , Khukuri's made there are the finest among all others , they are the true masterpiece . My personal fav is long sword like khukuri called " Sirupaatey Khukuri ' carried by the ethnic Kirat people of Nepal , next time do visit bhojpur, highly recommended place for the khukuri lovers ... Btw im from the city called " Dharan " east Nepal .. Cheers :)

Thanks, Derek! I would love to do a documentary on Khukuri making in Nepal. Great idea! I hope someone heeds your call to action and funds me. :-)
I own a couple of Khukuri House blades and just admire the craftsmanship of these knives. My favorite is the Raw Panawal and I use it for hunting and the field dressing of deer. It holds its edge very well compared to other knives I have used which don't hold the edge as well.

Thanks, it was a lot of fun. KH does great work and supplies all the combat knives to the Gurkha units. So, that is a huge vote of confidence in their work. You will not be disappointed in them.

I have two knives made by them, and I'd trust both of them with my life.
Last time I heard of Khukuri House, they had to halt production due to some sort of conflict in the region. Good to see they're back to business!

You are right. During the civil war it was a tough time for them.
Thanks for the video. I have a number of khukuris from Sanjay with more on the way (literally in transit now in Dubai). Really cool to see Sanjay's shop and Sanjay himself.

SugarcreekForge Just want to put some good words for Sanjay here ... I have placed two orders with Sanjay. I ordered 7 khukuris in the 1st order. One of the blades came with a minor crack near the cho. Sanjay crafted a replacement blade and shipped it to me for free. I am impressed by his customer service and commitment to quality. So I "punished" him by placing another order (my 2nd) for 13 khukuris . These 13 are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. YAY!! I gave a couple of Sanjay's khukuris to my best friend and he loves them. So I plan to order more for my other friends. Both my buddy and I have used our khukuris in the field, and both of us are very impressed with the strength and performance of these blades. We plan to buy more khukuris from Sanjay. :)
That was very cool..Don't own a Khukuri yet been wanting one forever..I do have my eye on on of there traditional style models...Maybe by years end..That shave looked awesome..I have that on my list of things to do this summer..Get a Pro Shave..My Best Tim

LOL - Gav, you just keep making your awesome knives. I couldn't resist teasing you after you got those troll comments about forging. I was going to have the guy tell you that he has a good looking sister for you to meet, but then I remembered you are now a married man. I would not want Lenka (sp?) to beat me up the next time she sees me! :-)

Stock removal is still done on khukuri after forging a rough shape though which requires years of skill to get right on the multiple chirra blades. Sanjay is a great guy though, have a 15" 3 chirra sirupate next to me right now from his shop (which closed just recently due to a POS landlord).
