There's an error in the example equation: 50/850 *100 is 5,88..., so that's a weight loss of about 5,9% (to get to 6,25%, you probably calculated 50/800*100)

Hi Tala, you are doing great job of teaching on KZread. I have question for you. What is difference between SGA and IUGR ?
@TalaTalksNICU
4 ай бұрын
Great question! SGA used after babies born and is less tenth percentile for GA. IUGR is a OB term/ when babies falling off their growth curve in utero. So if they were 50%ile at 25 weeks and then they’re 15%ile at 29 weeks they are IUGR. But not necessarily sga! Does this make sense?

I've learned a lot from your videos. 1. Could you provide the bibliography from your video presentations? 2. You mentioned the application of ultrasound in your video. I wanted to inquire about the usage of ultrasound in your unit. Could you please provide a detailed explanation of ultrasound? Thank you.
@TalaTalksNICU
4 ай бұрын
Hello! Great questions- generally we put the bibliography in the reference section beneath each video. Sometimes when it's just well known (eg SGA definition)- I'm not referencing it. We made a video on the books we use in the NICU- and often I go back to those ones. We are starting to use ultrasound more in our unit- we are trying to build a program and get everyone trained. I would need to find an expert who is willing to give a lecture on ultrasound usage :)

Hello!!! So glad you’re with us!!!!
Hi Dr. Tala, The World Health Organization (WHO, 2023) defines preterm as a baby born before the completion of 37 weeks. So they define a baby born at 37 weeks and 2 days as preterm. Should we go based off the WHO, or where can I find out more about what actually defines pre term?
@TalaTalksNICU
4 ай бұрын
hello! You know I think this is one of the most confusing things in neonatology- when guidelines are written for 'X weeks' and we have to figure out if completed or not. You're right the way WHO words it makes it sound like it's 37 completed weeks- but if you look through their definitions it's less than 37 weeks (iris.who.int/bitstream/handle/10665/363697/9789240058262-eng.pdf). This WHO document goes through in more detail. Hope this helps!
