    Exactly! I love how quick and easy they are to use and there’s no mess with them or need for anything else like paintbrushes or water (if you use them dry)

    I just looked at your back catalog of videos and you’ve really evolved. You’ve gone from scrapbooks to some dark and edgy fine-art.

    Thank you! I did art in high school and then life was really busy and then I got sucked into scrapbooking which was a good creative outlet and also it was made of much quicker and smaller projects, so it was easier to fit into my life. And then companies sent me so much free stuff that it was really fun. And then finally I got tired of it, which opened the space for me to get back into art. I do like seeing how my work has improved over the years.

    Hullo Ela, I have used these Neocolor II’s for over 30 years and I am very happy with their lightfastness! I used the 10 then the 15 color sets for close to 15 years and I would go buy special colors for a given project. About 5 years ago I got the 30 stick selection box and purchased the plastic palette with the set! It has a smooth side and a rough side. I used regular masking tape for scribbling the color down for mixing or water dilution as I avoided buying a separate palette just for them. The plastic palette is very nice to have but I did use the tape for years and it worked! I used the sticks for a lot of under painting and mixed media pieces they are simply amazing and so easy to use. I see a painting that hangs outside of my studio everyday and it has not faded yet, it is 37 years old. It is hanging in the hallway and not under UV glass, but I did spray the finished artwork with Krylon UV protective spray. I encourage you to use care when working with the iffy colors that are not as permanent as others. I am excited to see more videos of yours! See you next video, yep I am a new subscriber!

    Wow ...... Yours Sketchbooks are so Fun and Cool 💖💖 i love your Art and i'm so happy to know that you love too use Neocolor2 😄 For my part, since I discovered them thanks to the advice of my Art and Color Dealer , I love using them almost daily and combining them with classic watercolors in my sketchbooks and my other paintings. The only thing I find unfortunate is that you can't easily find all the available colors and I regret that they removed many of them from the color range... it's a real shame and very frustrating! (I think that at Caran d'Ache, they consider this product more for Children than for Adults which is, in my opinion, a serious error given its potential) Friendly yours,

    Thank you so much! ☺️ I’m so glad you liked them and so happy to have you join me on my video. I do love them! I can’t believe they’d consider it a kids supply since they’re so great and a lot of them are lightfast so they can definitely be a professional supply. I wish they’d keep all the colors and add to the range. Would be great to have like 150 colors to choose from, like some colored pencil ranges. Anyways, thank you for watching and commenting 🥰

(You’ve done it for us. 😉 ) - I love the eyes on your giraffe, a a a nd I forget the other ones I liked but yeah, they’re really bright and shiny looking. ➖ Anyways…. I’m going to buy at least a 40 pk. of the Neo Il crayons. So THANKYOU ‼️ Much appreciated.

    Oh sorry I buried that in at the end! I should have probably done a little section just on that. But the pear example probably explains it best. Just layer them close to each other and smudge them in or layer multiple layers on top of each other, especially thick layers and either smudge them or just keep layering until you get the effect you want. That’s pretty much what I did for the thickest pastel looking backgrounds. Hope that helps!

    Lightfastness is no longer relevant. You aren't selling originals and neither is anyone else. Even if you were collectors use uv protective glass and no one hangs art in direct sunlight. They never have. Today you youtubers are selling prints. Which won't last with ai. Unless you learn to sell your personality. So use what you like. Create what you want. Let those creative juices flow. Enjoy and have fun. That's what it's all about.

  • @ElaTell

    @ElaTell

    Ай бұрын

    Yep, as I mentioned, if you’re just using materials in a sketchbook, then lightfastness isn’t a huge factor. It’s still something to consider though because some materials can fade within a couple months so even in a sketchbook, it’s something I do care about to some degree. In fact, a lot of my materials which I decided not to keep and to sell was due to lightfastness issues. But when I’m selling originals, it’s definitely something I consider. So it’s a good bit of info to mention when doing a product review. Even if someone doesn’t sell their works, if it’s something they might gift to a family member or hang on even their own walls, lightfastness is something to take into account. But yeah, if you’re just experimenting and playing around then at those times, how much you enjoy the materials is the primary factor

    All I sell are originals. And lughtfastness is a huge issue because UV glass/UV spray isn't the end all be all. If a color is not lightest no amount of UV glass will help. And if a color us straight up fugitive then it will even fade in the dark. And AI art all looks the same and doesn't understand proportion or where things like unicorns' horns grow from, lol. Watching ai try to replicate people is funny af! Although if you tell it "discord moderator trail cam" it seems to get that pretty spot on🤣🤣 Also there are programs that you can download so AI is incapable of using anything of yours and as more and more artists, photographers, etc continue to learn about said programs (IG actually has a setting so AI can't take anything from your page btw) AI will not be able to grow and continue to learn and in ten years the trend of that disproportionate fantasy art will be so old and boring. Don't get me wrong, I think AI has great possibilities to be a useful tool......if done ethically, i.e. not stealing from others' hard work without permission or compensation, but with all the lawsuits and the programs blocking AI there might be an understanding coming to and we will be able to work together.
