There is one big public radio-television association with three major parts: a German, a French and an Italian speaking part. All three of them have 2 TV channels and radio channels. The Rumantsch speaking part has no channels but they use spots on the German and Italian channels.

1:41 there are parts of Switzerland that speak French, for example Geneva, and the programs there are also in French, but in Bern they speak German, so the programs there are in German

Europapa is not the only earworm in Eurovision 2024. I caught myself so many times singing this song. And Nemo is a vocal beast, a great singer. Imho this is one of the best entry's ever.

Thank you for the reaction ❤ It’s actually not he/him but they/them as Nemo is non binary. And you’ve got it all right, they can sing all those genres and hit those head voice notes live. There is no official Eurovision live-performance yet as we don’t have national selections in Switzerland but there plenty of live performances from the Eurovision pre-parties and an acoustic version to check out. The music video is also a good clue about the song’s meaning.

You talked about Mozart’s opera “The magic flute” when Nemo sings their first high notes. And yes, this is the highest part of the aria of rage, sung by the queen of the night (though Nemo lowered it a bit😊).

Just to answer your question: We have four official languages: German, French, Italian, and Romansh (which is a super niche/rare language and is essentially a mix of all the others). We have dedicated tv channels for all of the languages. There is some mixing sometimes, but usually they're kept separate on tv and on the radio. And the song is about being non-binary (Nemo is non-binary, so not a guy). Hence the reference to 0s and 1s. And 'so krass' means 'so wild/great/amazing'

Romansh a mix of all our other languages in Switzerland? What? I think it's not right to describe it like that.

The Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR ((SRG in German and SSR in French, Italian and Romansh) broadcasts many channels (radio and TV) in various languages. SRG SSR broadcasts : 6 Radio channels in German/Swiss-German - SRF Radio 3 TV channels in German/Swiss-German - SRF TV 4 Radio channels in French - RTS Radio 3 TV channels (2 on air and 1 on-line) in French - RTS TV 3 Radio channels in Italian - RSI Radio 2 TV channels in Italian - RSI TV 1 Radio channel in Romanch - RTR Radio 1 TV channel that broadcasts a few shows in Romansh (news, kid programmes, etc) mainly on the SRF TV channels (RTR TV on SRF TV). Each TV and Radio sections have their own organisation, director and board though SRG SSR has one single CEO. SRG SSR mainly act as a national and administrative Head quarter while each regional branches organises itself on its own. 3 Satellite Radios with only music so no specific languages (Swiss Pop, Swiss Jazz, Swiss Classic) For a long time, the ESC Swiss representative was chosen and selected turn by turn by each big three (SRF, RTS, RSI) tv/radio channels. For a few years, it's been solely the responsibility of SRF to select and organise Swiss Delegation at ESC. Though SRF would probably be responsible for organising it, RTS and RSI would also bring along their stuffs and probably all three would work together. The official Broadcaster would still not be SRF or RTS or RSI but simple «SRG SSR».

And all cantons in switzerland have they own dialect in swiss german too 😅 but we understand each other. And we also have italian, french and rätroromanian as official language.☺️
