Nemo Helio LX Pressure Shower Review

We've chosen the Helio LX Pressure Shower to replace the smaller version of of the shower that we used for 3 years.
There are lot of reasons we like this larger version:
* The larger water capacity: Less concern of running out of water and to keep tank pressurized longer with less pumping.
* The larger, screw-on lid (with cap-keeper): Great for cleaning and improved drying time.
* The mesh bottom of the carrying case: For better air circulation and drying when in the case.
* The on-tank holder for the spray nozzle: Keeps the sprayer out of the dirt and within easy reach.
* The large loop on the bottom of the tank: Makes it easy to hang the tank upside down for drying
HELIO LX PRESSURE SHOWER SPECS
* 5.8-gallon / 22-liter capacity
* for shower lasting 7-10 minutes
* 7-foot neoprene sprayer hose
* Packed size: 7" (17.8 cm) high x 10" (25.4 cm) across
* Empty weight: 35.3 oz (1 kg)
* Pressurized size: 22" (56 cm) high x 10" (25.4 cm) wide

    Certainly looks like significant improvements were made over the prior version. I've been using a garden sprayer which I adapted a longer hose for and painted a flat black. Its amazing how warm the water gets with it sitting out in the sun for a couple of hours. Of course I have a privacy shelter also. The Nemo sure would take up a lot less space in comparison though. Another great review!

    Yes... Nemo seems to have listened to customer's suggestions about the smaller one when making the LX. Why, of course, because you are amazing, you made your own. That is so cool. We actually discussed using a garden sprayer when the previous Helio died. As you mentioned.... The deciding factor was space. Thank you for watching and for the kind words and for always taking time to comment.

  • @wobblyotteroutdoors

    @wobblyotteroutdoors

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Dariusz Kalinowski - Sadly, we haven't had opportunity to use it on more than a few camping trips. It works well and we appreciate the larger tank of the LX. It uses the same foot pump, hose and nozzle as our previous 11-liter Helio that lasted 3 years. Yep... even though the LX is listed on the Nemo website, it is out-of-stock there and on Amazon too. No way to know if that is temporary or not. It's good to see that Nemo continues to listen to their customers and try new things with the design. On the new horizontal 11-liter tank, the built-in spout for filling the tank is a great idea. The smaller tank (11-liter) holds plenty of water for 1 to 2 showers; 3 if your quick. If you have a way to heat the shower water, or don't mind cold water, we also did a review of a portable, rechargeable shower. It just could not be any easier to use and it has great reviews... And no foot-pump pumping. 😁 Here's a link to our video about the portable, rechargeable shower: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIOiu8dmnNDIcs4.html This link goes directly to the product on Amazon: amzn.to/2ZeDusL I hope this is helpful in some way.

    Sorry to hear that. This is the only thing I can think of that may make a difference... Not sure how much water was in the tank when you tested it out. If the tank is about half to two-thirds full of water that will allow a good bit of air to also be in the tank. The air pressure in the tank is what drives the water out. If the tank is mostly full of water, that doesn't allow for much pressure.

    Hi Sheri. No we have not had opportunity to use this shower a lot. We did us it in Colorado and it did great. That video, including shower care tips can be found here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fX2Am8aJnrqvlpc.html The shower has the same working parts for the pump and hose connections as the smaller one we had before. The smaller one lasted us 3 years. If you don't have any power source, I would get the Helio XL. It's been a good shower for us. If you have a power source and plenty of water, I suggest you take a look at a rechargeable shower like this one we reviewed, by Ivation: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIOiu8dmnNDIcs4.html The downsides of a rechargeable shower are you need a way to recharge it and this one uses/pumps water quickly.

    So if you were to shower in a shelter in a location where 'gray water' should be removed from the site, is there a good solution for that?

  • @wobblyotteroutdoors

    @wobblyotteroutdoors

    3 жыл бұрын

    We've not experienced this issue. One could wait/plan to use the shelter shower at a location where it isn't a concern. You could stand in a shallow container to catch the water, then you still have to have a way to carry it to dispose of it properly. It's easier to camp in locations that have shower facilities, or where the little bit of outdoor shower water isn't going to be an issue. For what it's worth, we use biodegradeable soaps and shampoos.

    @@wobblyotteroutdoors That's a pity. Are you still enthusiastic about it? I am looking for a pressurized shower/rinse that folds up/stores small when I don't use it. This product sounds just right. Would this still be your favorite product in that category?

    Yes!, we definitely still like it and it is our pick to use. We liked the smaller one so much and this larger one incorporates many positive changes. Regarding the concern of the handle strength: We aren't going to use the handles to pick up the tank when it has a lot of water in it, instead we will support it frome underneath when carrying it.

    Not worth the price company will not support their product, i bought this after seeing your review on you tube and another you tubers review. Used about twenty times be for fill cap ring separated from tank body. While it worked did what it was designed for. But after separation wouldn't hold pressure, just fill up drain not the shower i wanted. Solar shower bag under $20. works as well for alot less money. Company blew off my email.

    1.1 gallon is 5 litres so therefore 11 litres is around 2 gallons. Please do the maths. Thanks

    Hi, Michael. Here's the correct "maths" as noted both in the video itself as well as in the video description. Nemo Helio LX Pressure Shower - the product in this review (5.8 gallon / 22 liter capacity). Nemo Helio Pressure Shower (not the LX) - the smaller shower that we had before (2.9 gallon / 11 litter capacity). Sounds like you missed the parts where the new larger LX 22 liter version is being compared to the smaller, non-LX 11 liter version that we used to have.

    @Turbo Turd No worries. I didn't think you were. I totally get it and agree. Sometimes, there is so much "gear" (aka crap) that it just gets in the way. When we go on camping trips, this truly is our shower, and we truly do like it. It is interesting to see what we really use - what rises to the top, and what falls by the way-side. We try to be lean, though properly prepared and self-sufficient. We understand this means different things to different people. I very much like hearing everyone's take on the matter.

    @@wobblyotteroutdoors well that wasn't exactly what I meant but that's ok. So when you say camping, this isn't bushwalking camping you mean, so you obviously have a source of power nearby? Have you not tried 12 volt pump shower's? They have great flow and dont lose pressure. I use these in a bucket of boiled and cold water for a hot effortless shower, albeit rather quick maybe 3 minutes but extremely refreshing. Just gotta move quick and stop flow to allow for shampooing/conditioning hair.

    @Turbo Turd I love your willingness to discuss this, and to define "camping." Sorry that I missed your point. No this isn't walk-in camping with only what can carry on our backs. We have not tried a 12-volt pump shower. We'll check them out. We like to camp (tent, RTT, square-drop trailer) where there is no electricity, and often there is no running water. We are self-sufficient with 12-volt electricity (solar panel charging), the water we carry in, and water purifiers. Many times I've washed my hair in a bowl with another container of warm water for the "rinse cycle." The hair takes the longest time! Otherwise, that 3-ish minutes you note, is plenty for that refreshing shower. ~Cris
