I love how Nelly was willing to try different genres of music in his career. That's why he was my favourite rapper from the Y2K era.
Never understood why Nelly's name is not mentioned more in the debates of favorite rappers. He definitely carved a lane of his own and gave Hip-Hop a passport.
This song is a masterpiece. How it blends two different genres of music together, goes to show we are not that different from one another after all.

When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. Now I have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - Heart Of A City Boy” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. Take me back to these days music hit different those days I still get that feeling that I can't even explain just by listening to the music
When country and rap came together.👏 Nelly probably took a lot of heat for doing this, and it turned out to be a big hit.

Tim McGraws voice always gives me chills on this song, it's very few and far between you see Hip-Hop cross over with Country and even more rare for the song to be as good as this, it's not easy to pull off and i give them both so much respect for making such a masterpiece, sucks this song had to end up applying to me but oh well.

As well as the fact Nelly really showed his diversity as an artist because most people wouldn't think the guy who made Country Grammar could sing this well and switch his flow up to fit a Rap/Country mix.

Did you mean collaborate or commiserate? I think many people around the world commiserate over the same things... Since most sad things are universal it makes sense that commiseration is pretty easy. Empathy is a truly human emotion. Sorry for being so pedantic. Was just curious...

Tim Mcgraw is amazing. As a country fan, I few this as a colab with a rapper instead of a white guy and black guy.
So I was out eating with my friends and the restaurant played this song out of the blues and honestly it took me back to 2004-06 era 😩 used to listen to this right after school.
OMG NEW MEMORY UNLOCKED!!! my grandma passed away exactly a year ago today and she used to looooove country music and i looooved Nelly, when this song came out we listened to it over and over again!!! I forgot this song!!!!! She definitley gifted it to me today❤

@@ryandunakey2673 nsync was NOT rap. They were considered Pop. Also the radio edit without them sounded better on that song. 2024 and probably be listening to this Masterpiece Over and Over again
Personally, I love the song. In my opinion, Nelly just showed that he is not afraid to venture out. And let's not forget people that, Aerosmith and Run DMC, was one of the first, if not the first, to collaborate together. Rap and Rock together, something that I am sure, we all never thought back then, we would ever see. I don't really think one has to like a particular style of music, a pure music lover can and will find the beauty in this song.
