    Unlike standard Estonian, Võro has the element of vowel harmony. This song only just missed out on a place in the final. In the last 12 years, most of the time when Estonia sends a song in English they don't qualify for the final, but of the years they sent a song in either Võro or Estonian; 2004, 2009, 2012 and 2013, they qualified for the final except 2004. 2011 they qualified with an English language song but it did badly in the final, and this year 2015, was the first time since 2002 they sung in English and came in the top 10 at the final.

    Neil Baker you might need to add 2017 & 2016 to the list since they were also English language songs that failed to qualify to the Grand Final

    This is actually Seto language (dialect), which is spoken over 12,000 people in the Southern Estonia. It is similar to Võro. More in English: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seto_dialect

    +hollabooiers Võru is just a dialect. It's so similar, I don't think it ca be taken as a seperate language, you just say things diffrently (old style ?). If you could you would also have "ranna"-,"saarte"-,"lääne"-, and "kesk" murre (dialect) But that's just what they teach us in school, so I might be wrong (and sorry if I am )

  • @hollabooiers

    Amelia Merirand Well it's recognized as a separate language by ISO. :) The difference between calling something a language or a dialect is mostly just political anyway, Norwegian and Swedish for example could easily be seen as dialects of each other, they're so incredibly similar, but they're spoken in two different countries, so they're called separate languages. It's all very messy.

    First minute. Simply Fantastic. Original, arhaic, mystical. And all that gained tension goes down the toilet after "chorus kicks in". Some random twitching on stage, stupid eurocheese beat, tension gone with ridiculous melody. Probably biggest waste of potential what i have seen in songs. They could have sang the first 1 minute in repeat and everybody would have been on their toes. But instead a fantastic start turned into circus. How can a song creator be so stupid .... btw. This thing won over Kerlis "Beautiful Inside" in local eurovision contest (Kerli became 2nd in the competition) ....this is ridiculous. Just listen to Kerlis song. This is a superstar level.

    That's because both Finnish and Võro are more archaic members - if such can be said about languages - than Estonian of the finnic language family.

  • @margustoo

    @margustoo

    Both Finnish and Võro language use vowel harmony.. Estonian language doesn't use it. Vowel harmony means that letters with dots or waves (õ, ä, ö, ü) can't be in the same word with letters that don't have dots and waves on them (a, e, o, u).. exception to that rule is "i".
