@reality151 For myself, not at all. This is forbidden in our religion and one of G-ds' important commandments for Jews. But in Judaism, we don't believe in forcing others into our religion. G-d made Jews and non-Jews. The commandments that I must follow don't apply to Hindus. Also, Hinduism does not explicitly practice idolatry. Hindus believe, ultimately, in a single God, but that God takes many forms. The idols you see in Hindu temples are a representation of those forms (Hanuman, Ganesh, etc) but most Hindus I know deny worshipping the idol itself. Hindus also have a great respect for Jews and have treated Jews with dignity for our entire history. So I feel I should return the favor.

Few things of HINDUISM I want to share with everyone: 1) Hinduism Dharma is only biggest religion in world who worships female Goddesses equally as well. Other religions only says that their God is male, not female....but only Hinduism believes in this that universe is made up from both masculine energy as well as feminine energy, so we worships Goddesses equally. 2) Hinduism is only religion who gives rights to transgenders as well. Hinduism embraces transgenders similarly as any male or female. Transgender specially worships Lord Shiva as their isht-dev. 3) Hinduism allows atheism as well. Hinduism holy books gives full rights to atheism as to find own ways for their moksha/purpose of life. 4) Hinduism says or teaches about "Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam" which means "whole world is one family" so treat everyone of world as a family members. 5) In Bhagwat Gita, KRISHNA says "Karm kiye ja, fal ki chinta na kar" which means "do your duty/karma without worrying about the fruit of your duty/karma". It's one of the very powerful message to humanity. 5) KRISHNA says "wherever there is no respect of women, that home/region/kingdom/civilisation gonna be destroyed by Karma through the will of KRISHNA" 7) Hinduism never says that if you won't worship me or believe me, then you will be burn in hell or any kind of threats. But Hinduism always says to surrender your sorrows, pain and joy in feet of KRISHNA or SHIVA (or if you worship goddess Maa Parvati or Maa Kali). KRISHNA will take care of believers as well as non-believers equally because he is omnipresent and he don't do partiality for believers and non-believers because it doesn't matter for supreme Lord of this universe. As a Houstonian and a Christian, I can tell you I love my hindu and budhist neighbors. I've been to the temple for a wedding, they are so sweet. I have toured a Cambodian budhist temple. I wish there was a sihk temple because they are so kind and they give the poor free food.

Almost all old Hindu Temples have bhojanalayas, where the poor can eat along with the rich, many such temples are older than Islam or even Christianity for that matter. There is no bar to caste, creed, race etc in such bhojanalayas.

The comments are so heart warming and fill me with gratitude! So good to see the sense of mutual respect amongst all of us from difft backgrounds , cultures and faith!! As a Hindu, I wouldn't want a temple in residential area especially if it means the ppl living there are going to hate the hindu community.... Everytime I visit the temple...I would feel like I am intruding... It hurt a lot when the person said having a temple will diminish the land/home value...I hope someday we can get past the sense of looking down at non-white communities

Invaders came to our and converted our people but slowly and steadily they wanted to expand their religion just the way Islam did. As a non religious, non South Asian, I make special trips just to visit American Hindu temples, because they are master pieces of art work. The exterior of the buildings are typically made out of expensive hand carved stone or hand carved solid wood. The yards are generally filled with beautiful gardens with water features and from the ones I've been too, unless you're intentionally looking for it, the entrance might be missed altogether because of the landscaping. They are very quiet and serene places for worshippers. When you go inside the temple, you're not allowed to talk as to allow worshippers the opportunity to pray.

Here in india, ethnic Indian christians are hell bent on converting the south and the East Indians into christianity after facing total failure in northern and western India. But they have reached their limits. they could only convert impoverished n very poor by giving free utilities and monthly ration. and those a bit well fed refuse to convert. (yes its down to food and shelter). and bcoz they are not finding the tremendous success they found decades ago, they are becoming restless and fanatics. 😆

I personally find it encouraging that a Hindu temple is being built in a rural area in America (Hindu temples tend to be in mostly urban areas). As someone who goes to temples (and ashrams) a lot, I can assure these people they have nothing to fear from this; Hindu temples are beautiful and add positive sattvic energy to the surrounding area. Plus, Indians are very easy going, accommodating people so I'm sure they both can work out something mutually beneficial if the residents still have concerns. Given that these people live in a rural area, it's possible they've never met a Hindu (or Indian) in their life so they don't understand how this could actually help them.

I know Sikhism is not Hinduism but we have a Sihk temple in my neighborhood...... and they coshare a community garden with a Christian church that neighbor each other......

Honestly as a Hindu, I don't think they know Hinduism, which is kind of expected from extensive evangelical education in the US. Hinduism is the only religion in the world which historically didn't and still doesn't accept converts. You have to be born as a Hindu to be one, no conversion however you can leave the religion as well and no one is gonna impale you because there is no concept of Excommunication/fatwa in Hinduism at all from the beginnings. A temple on a wasteland might increase the prices of YOUR lands apart from the Hindu architecture, which is unique among all religions. Many confuse us for Muslims( no hate to them), but we are far different from Muslims, infact Christians and Muslims have more in common than Hindus, both historically and even now. Secularism is also a Hindu concept exclusively, not Abrahamic at all, many churches and mosques were built starting from the 6th century AD in India( southern India specifically), under Hindu kings only, they all borrow from Hindu architecture extensively, such that only recently you would see domes as in Abrahamic architecture on them. Hindu kings accepted Burmese and other Buddhists, Jains, Zorastrians( from Iran), Syriacs( refugee orthodox Christians kicked out by Arabs in the 6th century from Syria), Knanyas+ cochin Jews( from Israel/middle-east), Armenian Christians( from genocides), Arab pagans( before Islam), Arab/Persian/turkic Muslims, Polish Christians, Rohingya Muslims, Maldivian Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists and many more, it was originally "Hindu" land which welcomed them all( if their logic is applied) and allowed them right to practice and Preach their religion as well. It took Europe/Christendom to accept non-Christians another 1000-1200 years, let alone middle Eastern countries, which still are lagging back in that. Let's not talk about the latter.

Actually, according to Swami Vivekananda, people can convert to Hinduism; and the Heliodorus pillar in India is proof that some pre Christian Greeks converted to Hinduism. In fact, there's even a white guru named Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya. I view all that as evidence that Hinduism is no longer just an ethnic Indian thing anymore; it's truly universal now.

@@ishumahyurumi864 well that's kind of true as well, like many Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jews have also converted to Hinduism historically as well, but the idea of being a Born Hindu mainly arises from the fact, that Hindus actually didn't go outside of India or invade other countries for conversion as Islam or Christianity did. Greeks like Helena, the queen of Chandragupta was a Hindu queen of Greek origin some 2300 years ago. Also, Madhvacharya and Sankaracharya had already converted many Jains/Buddhists and Muslims as well to Hinduism.

I don't agree with you on one particular point- that is to be born a Hindu. If you see examples of famous Holy people like Swami Vivekananda, Bamakhepa they never did care if you belonged to a different religion. Heck Bamakhepa taught Hindu mantras to a Muslim person during those times. Sister Nibedita is originally an Irish Lady. With the works she did for our Motherland do you think she is any less of a Hindu than we are? Believing is everything in Hinduism. Any one can become a Hindu if he or she wants to. If not they can still pray to our Hindu Gods because they like them staying in their own religion. Don't be rigid.

They marry hindu women just to convert them to muslims and increase their population. Whereas it cannot go the other way round. A hindu or any one else is not allowed to marry a muslim woman. If some one propagates a hate speech against them they appropriately respond by vandalism and murder. They have been known from time and time again to rape and kill(not always inclusive) our women. During independence hindus were about 80% of the population and muslims around 9%. Now Hindus are still the same at 80% of the population but muslims have more than doubled and stand at 20%. I could go on. In all this is not an attempt to justify any radicalism. I just wanted to make sure you know both the sides before passing a judgement.

If you were considering , I would recommend studying omnism first. Its the belief in all religions which is also preached in Hinduism. I dont even want to start with the hypocrisy of this situation? These very same people complain about not being able to forcefully convert non-christians or non-muslims.

Hindus are the most peaceful and law abiding citizens. Highly educated and no noise, quite community. They generally visit with families on Saturday and Sunday. They never creates any parking, gang violence or anything bad you feel in your area. I feel that raising a Hindu Temple may increase your property values because of their integrating social attitude.

These people think knowing everyone’s identity around them is what they are entitled to, to make them feel safe, but at the same time if someone say they have to register to own a gun, they will be enraged.

@@--MelonMusk Here In India govt gives the govt land some times unused temple lands to Church and mosque to build ,also there is subsidy to build minority religious structures as old and rich Hindu temples are govt run temples and are under endowment departments which collects money to help minority religions as part of secularism one of British era laws

NIMBYs blocked a govt. paid park for our local empty lot, worried about the homeless moving in. NIMBYs have blocked my friend's home plans for 10 years (in CA). It's basically just incredibly hard to build anything after a neighborhood has established itself.

I'm from india.. the people who left this country for their American dream.. to live a life in american culture and wealthy life... if they really Loved so much their own culture and religion why did they leave this country for the sake of money only... i know America is a free and democratic country but still outsiders should be able to adjust their lives according to local culture and not force their own... because most of America is atheist and they left this country for that very life for money, wealth and that culture

Hindu temples generally offer delicious free food. Good for the residents there. Where ever the Hindu temples were built, the property value raised because lot of Indians gather around the area and Indian community is the highest earning community in USA, almost twice the average American household. Interesting to see what these people will be missing!

I wish I could see more of the Real Indians of that area!

There are Mormon churches in some areas that are less than a mile apart from each other. Can I get an AMEN!!!

I am Mormon and always love and welcome any temple in every city and neighborhood! I am happy there will be a Hindu Temple there. It will only bless and make the area better and more beautiful! (And usually increases property value too)

But Hinduism always says to surrender your sorrows, pain and joy in feet of KRISHNA or SHIVA (or if you worship goddess Maa Parvati or Maa Kali). KRISHNA will take care of believers as well as non-believers equally because he is omnipresent and he don't do partiality for believers and non-believers because it doesn't matter for supreme Lord of this universe. I can see church and mosques being opened up in Hindu societies. But not hindu temples in the neighborhood of the Christian!!! Is not it racist!!! I would always prefer a Hindu temple... Do the social work and free food distribution activities

read what is going on in India! Hindus are persecuting Muslims and Christians under the terrorist Hindu government. Recently hindus burned down a church and beat a pastor These people are two-faced hypocrites. In the US you will see them as welcoming and peace-loving but what you see in India is a totally different story of their treatment towards Muslims and Christians

Yet on the opposite side of the valley, the city of Las Vegas building department thinks a 216' high monstrocity of a LDS mormon temple is allowed in the same type of area. Rural preservations area with maximum 35'-0" height, no sidewalks, dark skies at night. Yet LV thinks 216' if ok. And because the erect steeple is over 200' it has to brightly lighted at night for aeroplance safety. The architect deliberately do that even theough they had to know this was a rural conservation area. The hypocrisy is thick. It will be awful. This Hindu temple is no where that size and they have been denied. BTW look into the mayor, each coucillor and the entire city building and development personel. Let just say there issues of conflict.

They ain't understanding. It will make their village a beautiful heaven.

Just wishing more temples and their art define culture an tradition hindu temples open here in India.

That's alright. As a Hindu, I don't think this should bother any of us. Please relocate to a different place. It wouldn't help the Hindu cause if the neighbors are going to see it as a botheration. Their privacy needs to be respected.

The biggest impediment to world religious harmony today is the monotheistic Book based faiths teaching its followers my religion is the only religion, my path is the only path and my God is the only God. This breeds exclusion and intolerance. Hindus find no issues in celebrating christmas as for them it is just one more path to the many paths they have. No wonder many from these religions are moving to Eastern religions (which propagates that there are many ways to the same god) in large numbers..

I'm Indian, I do see their point. It would cause a lot of crowding there, and possibly could cause a security risk since people don't know who's visiting. I would have a problem with a church being built right at my doorstep as well, especially Evangelicals who are known for being radical and for their neo-Nazi ideologies. They just need to talk to them.

In India Churches are in Hindu majority areas then where are so liberandus who often criticise Hinduism

What someone needs to do is to buy the land and do a land patent on it. This takes it off of the county tax rolls and out of county control. Then the county commissioners won't have any say is what goes there.

An empty unused church was recently turned into a temple dedicated to Vishnu. The Hindu worshippers never touched the cross at the top of the church. It remains intact. Acceptance is a difficult virtue to come by
