Neglected Jeep SRT Gets 40+ HOUR Makeover! Full Interior + Paint Correction And Ceramic Coating!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This 2015 Jeep SRT has been used and abused for years by its previous owner. Currently sitting at 118k miles, it shows every bit of that mileage. The exterior and engine bay alone took 6.5 hours to fully clean all the dirt out of every crevice. The interior didn't look soo bad at first glance, but being a family car, it had a pungent odor that needed to go and required 12 hours of attention. After removing the front and rear seats, everything was shampooed and followed up with a hot water extractor, steam, and an ozone treatment. The seats had a lot of filth lurking in the suede.
After the interior was all finished and buttoned up, the exterior received a fully body wet sand, two stages of compounding, and a refining polish to remove the water spots and swirls plaguing the paint. Once the paint was popping again, everything was topped with Ceramic Pro's professional ceramic coating for protection and ease of maintenance.

    Hello, nice vid and attention to that car. Is it really needed to touch the car with the sandpaper? I think rotary polishing and then finishing with orbital is enough cutting for these medium scratches. Or it was because it ease up the polishing process so you dont have to polish as long? I would highly recommend protecting the seat rails with rags or other stuff when moving it. It can really fk up the finish with the scratches on a car from the rails. Good job :)

    Just got a 2021 Jeep GC. Do you worry about getting water in any of the electrical?

  • @HamptonsTouch

    @HamptonsTouch

    Жыл бұрын

    The most important thing about spraying down an engine bay is avoiding directly spraying critical electrical components like the fuse box and PCM. All electrical connections have seals to keep out moisture, so it’s alright to get them wet, but just be careful about the pressure you hit them with. That’s how water can get past the seals. I hold the wand as high as I can to reduce the pressure, as well as using a lower pressure nozzle. Also I don’t use a constant flow of water, I just do quick spurts of water to rinse away the suspended dirt and suds. And congratulations on your new vehicle!

    Stupid question but i thought you were never supposed to spray water under the hood only use wet cloth due to water getting in motherboard? I took my car detailing few years back and when I picked it up, it was in limp mode. Had to pay mechanics to dry the water out.

  • @HamptonsTouch

    @HamptonsTouch

    3 ай бұрын

    You can clean under the hood with water so long as you’re careful of how close you’re getting the pressure washer. The pressure will push the moisture past the seals of the electrical connectors if you’re too close, and it’s always best to look over everything to make sure all the connections are secure, and the fuse box is properly latched shut. There are some fuse boxes that have openings on the sides, so it’s best for cover them with a bag while cleaning.

    @@HamptonsTouch Excellent job from taping to the whole bit! In addition to the paint, the glass had water spot etching issues also? What did you use to deal with the glass issue? You applied Ceramic Pro to all the glass including the windshield? I ask because I was going to try that on the windshield with CarPro UK 3.0, but I was told I most likely would get wiper chatter and I should use a dedicated glass product. Thanks for answering questions and keep up the great work!

  • @HamptonsTouch

    @HamptonsTouch

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@BlackHawkPSU I was fortunate that these water spots didn’t etch into the glass, so a simple polish was more than enough to remove them. I used HD Speed on a yellow Rupes pad to clean them up. The reason I use HD Speed instead of a dedicated glass polish is that I don’t have to tape off the seals with HD Speed. It doesn’t cause any whitening of plastics and rubber trim if any gets onto it. As for coating the windshield, some vehicles such as Mercedes-Benz will cause wiper chatter as well as some Porsches. I’ve not had any issue coating any domestics yet, but I’m sure that could change. I’ve heard some guys say they’ll coat the wiper blades as well and that solves the chatter issue, but I’ve never personally tried it so I can’t say for certain if it does or not.

    @@Alex-cs8hs every brand has their good and not so good products. I’d steer away from anything niche like Chemical Guys because most of those products don’t live up to other brands and sell at a higher price. CarPro makes a lot of great quality products, so if you’re looking to stick with a single brand, they’re a good place to start. The prices are higher than something like Mother’s or Meguairs, but the products are far superior. If you’re looking for a quality soap at a reasonable price, I always recommend Meguairs Gold Class. Great work im only 12 minutes in but shouldn't you start interior first then exterior im not a professional or even close just wondering wouldn't it be more easier after you do the interior you dont have to go inside anymore rather than clean the exterior then doing the interior while slightly contaminating your work you just did but im sure you're going to wax but seems a lil backwards

  • @HamptonsTouch

    @HamptonsTouch

    Whether you start on exterior or interior is just personal preference. There’s no specific order to go in. I’d personally rather get the exterior cleaned so I can get the vehicle pulled inside. If I did the interior first then pulled it outside to wash it, there’s a chance dirt, dust, or pollen can blow into the vehicle while I’m cleaning out the door jambs, and I want to avoid having to re-vacuum and wipe down the interior. That’s just me though.
