    Such a amazing car.. ❤ wish I had one.. I can’t say it enough just how important a pre-treat is. Prior to physically washing and touching the panel. People think I go to far in my details well. I want The best possible clean I can achieve. With minimal damage to the vehicle as possible. Though it’s more work my results are epic. And mind blowing this is just another reason why I am set apart from others. When I say there is a 4 step cleaning process I mean it. this is how I have become 1 of the top detailers out there. Amazing work my friend.❤

    A first gen RX7 was my first car at 16! Man I loved that car, so fun to drive. I used to see them on the road on occasion, but haven’t seen one in years. I’ve owned a bunch of RX7s over the years, all three generations. I had a third gen at 17, insurance for it was $350 a month, and that was 20 years ago. Worth it. Crazy how expensive they are now. I was buying third gens for $15k back then. First and second gens for $5k.

    Sandro, your content is part of the youtube stuff I've watched that encouraged me to actually give detailing a shot. I got the chance to do it for a few months this year with a local guy, and the last part about the human element is apt - it's a uniquely enjoyable process. We worked mostly as a mobile outfit with comparatively few hours per car, so the hardest part was adjusting my expectations from what I've seen on youtube, since you get a week to do something like this (if I understood the video right). It's just a different level of detail that you can go into. Lovely video and all the best!

    Lots of satisfying segments in this one! Got me thinking the RX8 received a lot of hate when it launched because it was expected to compete with this, one of the greatest JDM cars of all history. Looking back though the RX8 is arguably one of the last few truely quirky and classic feeling Japanese cars to land on the US market. Might have to snag one of those someday since the RX7 is basically a rich mans car at this point.

    Using the tornador with all those chemicals and making it fly around alot and become very misty, does it never concern you about the effects of longterm inhalation and being absorbed on your skin on the exposed areas? Especially since being a detailer you're exposed to them significantly more than a weekend diy-er

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    Yes it’s a concern I try to mitigate by working in large well ventilated spaces and using PPE. But it’s not unique to detailers, if you’re a tradie in almost any capacity things like air borne saw dust, metal fibres, paint overspray, even chefs deal with baker’s lung and smoke inhalation issues not to mention any domestic/industrial cleaners as well as gardening professionals. In other words unless you have a desk job there’s almost no getting away from some airborne contamination. It doesn’t mean you don’t try and mitigate by some measure, but it’s reality of trade based work.

    Thanks mate and this job was the best part of a week to complete, mainly because of all the wheel, engine bay and door jamb work, but typically you’ll give your clients options where they can choose what level of work fits their budget.

  • @ceasar5871
    @ceasar58718 ай бұрын

    In my opinion spraying iron remover willy-nilly is just costly, using it in conjunction with a perforated clay towel is the most cost effective and efficient way to decontaminate the paint. Same goes with the wheels, spraying on wheel cleaner/ iron remover is pointless if there's actual dirt on there. I'd spray a pre wash and rinse them first removing majority of the dirt, then applying the wheel cleaner so it has a better chance at working at the really stubborn brake dust.

    I commend you on your attention to detail and enjoy your videos. This was a satisfying wait until the end to see the finished product moment. However, it was a bit long winded and I found myself skipping ahead through parts of the video, eg, didn't really need to see you application of coating on every single area of the car. Keep your audience engaged but not wanting to skip ahead. I hope that made sense and comes across as constructive and not negative? I like your videos and will continue to watch and support. Cheers.

    Sandro, your work is outstanding as always! Even though I haven't had any vehicles to detail in a long while, your work is what I strive to achieve when I do. A few question about your ceramic coating process though. I notice you often use Erase to pre-prep the surface, but is there a difference between a surface prep spray and using a plain IPA solution? In this video you used a pad for the wheels, however, in previous videos I've seen you using a suede cloth over a sponge and didn't know if it was preference or if each cloth/pad has it's place.

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    8 ай бұрын

    Thanks mate and a surface spray can vary depending on the brand, but something like Eraser is very similar to a home made IPA solution which is usually 1 part 100% isopropyl alcohol to 4/5 parts deionised water, but Eraser also has minor tweaks to help better lubricate and give extended work time and a nicer scent. Some older videos will have me using suede applicators on wheels but I’ve been using foam pads for years now and much prefer them for wheel coatings.

    I always love watching your videos. Its very interesting to see the chemical choices for each use. On a side note, I recently decided to pick up Maguire's hybrid ceramic wax; however when I applied it to a customers car and did a follow up wash I noticed it came out very patchy( I applied it off label as you did in your testing video). The hood came out amazing perhaps the best possible outcome I could have imagined, but when inspecting the rest of the car some parts looked like they didn't even get touched with wax. Before I applied the wax I did an iron decon, clay bar, and IPA wipe. When applying I was in a shaded area and the paint was cool. What could have gone wrong? The only possible thing I could imagine is that I applied too much in some areas. Let me know your thoughts or any suggestions. Thanks!

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    8 ай бұрын

    I appreciate that mate, thanks. It’s hard to say for sure what the issue was, but I have noticed that sometimes after doing a thorough decon, certain sections of certain panels have varying and even weird water behaviour scattered about even though the paint looks and feels clean and bare. But after polishing that goes away leading me to believe that there was something there fused to the finish that required an abrasive to remove it. Maybe whatever is causing those inconsistencies could be related to something still remaining on the paint that rejects the sealant.

    @@CarCraftAutoDetailing I know what you mean. I was just really hoping that it wouldn't have to come to a polish, especially when its hard to justify one to most clients. One other piece of information I have is that the hood took well to the coating, the entire drivers side was alright, nothing spectacular; and the entire passenger side looked like nothing was done to it. The order of degradation was the order of which I applied the coating, meaning I started with the hood(best area), then went to the driver side(okay area), and ended with the passenger side(worst area). I'm not sure if this is pure coincide as I maintained technique throughout application, or like you said before that the car needs to be polished. Anyways, I am very appreciative of your response Sandro, and I look forward to your future vids!

    Yes absolutely, what we’d like to do and what the client is willing to pay are two different scenarios. Sealants can and do seperate at times, that could’ve been another a factor where a vigorous shake could help - but again not sure if that played a part.

I also notice in this video you used lots of Iron-X with the Solo 260LI Lithium Sprayer did you use 1L of iron x just for the job above? Cheers Mate

    Nice to hear you enjoyed that video mate! I honestly can’t remember the specific amounts of the specific chemicals used on that job, but I can generalise: I’d say typically wheel and tyre cleaners would be around the 250-500ml amount per car (that’s from deep decontamination, maintenance washes would be less) Tar-X goes a long way maybe using 100-200ml per job on average. Iron-X is something I use more of maybe 500ml-1L per car.

    Amazing work as always sandro. I want an FD rx7 so bad! Question. When you use your tornador with chemical cleaner in it, do you wear a mask or respirator? Im just imagining breathing in all the aerated chemical as youre spraying

    Thanks mate and they are amazing cars! I do wear filtration masks at times, also have a couple of powerful industrial fans at one end of the detailing bay that do a great job at expelling airborne particulates through the massive roller door at the opposite end of the bay -the shop itself is extremely large and well ventilated which helps a lot.

    Amazing work as always, how often do you replace your towels and brushes?

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    Thanks and with towels once they loose their softness or become embedded/stained they are downgraded and eventually tossed out - that can vary a lot in terms of when that happens. With brushes they tend to be quite durable so it’s when they start to loose their bristles or the handle may eventually break.

Cheers mate keep it up

    Thanks mate and I would say that tAussie Falcon paint is medium in its hardness, the older models where a little softer and the later models where definitely a little harder but still within that mid range typically.
