Im happy that by God's grace, my husband and I got married in the most perfect way. We earned our money and took care of our marriage expense. We did a very simple but a very beautiful marriage ceremony. No dowry concept at all. We both are working in Dubai. We take care of ourselves. We didnt have any loan related to our marriage. Nothing has changed now. My inlaws told my parents that they treat me as daughter and don't need anything from us. That was a sweetest lie. Right from printing their side of cards is also done by us entire marriage expenses, boys side travel expenses gold, reception, dresses fir him and his relatives etc etc and entire salary of mine is going to them(I work in MNC), not even a saree I would get for my mom after marriage. In total 50pounds gold+full furniture+expenses for boys etc etc from my parents. Top of it have gone thru worst torture by inlaws and his family. So nothing changed its getting worst.

Oviya hit the nail on the head..beyond all the surface level issues, touched the core of what's the contradiction here..But we should also think abt a possibility beyond - where the man and the woman live on their own after the marriage, forming a new family away from the families they were born in. In such a world (which really is the norm already in much of the world, right?), all these issues dont crop up, but you will have other issues like parents growing old, alone etc.

So true.. once they give the seervarisai, the brothers feel the daughters do not deserve anything from them. The daughters and sons are from the same parents, once they are married the girls are cut off as if they are a third person. Even if the parents are very rich,brothers influence the parents ( sentimental blackmail)and take away everything. The seervarisai is not even 10% of the total value. As per HSA( Hindu succession act) all the kids , girls or boys are class one heirs. I am a big fan of Gopinath but after seeing this episode I changed my mind. Everyone is working for their day to day life. Not to fix society issues. Indian families were built on these things. Agree women were suppressed on many areas. They have earned their freedom but wish they utilize it for greater good not for these silly things. These demands destroy family structure and we will end up like western society where immediate families even parents meet tgeir kids once or twice a year during vacation. Welcome the change without vanquishing our family culture.

Enaku 3 அக்கா ஒரு அண்ணன் அக்கா தான் மூத்தது.. மத்த நாங்கல்லாம் சின்ன பசங்க கல்யாணம் ஆன முதல் என் அக்கா என் அப்பாவிடம் வேண்டியவரை வாங்கி விட்டு சென்று விட்டால்.. பிறகு பிறந்த எங்களை பற்றி அவள் கவலை பட வில்லை என் அப்பாவள் முடிந்த வரை அடுத்து உள்ள இரண்டு அக்காவை படிக்க வைத்தார் என் அண்ணா வையும் படிக்க வைத்தார்.. எனக்கு படிப்பு வரவில்லை அதனால் என்ன படிக்க வைக்க அவருக்கு விருப்பம் இல்லாமல் என்னை வேளைக்கு செல்ல வைத்து விட்டார்.. ஆனால் என் மூத்த அக்கா கு இதை பற்றி இன்றும் வரை எதற்கும் கவலை பட இல்லை தன் வாழ்க்கையையி மட்டுமே கவனித்து சென்று விட்டால் பரவா இல்லை அதற்கு குறை சொல்ல விருப்பம் இல்லை ஆனால்.. நமக்கு பின்னால் பிறந்த பிள்ளைகளை பற்றி அவள் கவலை படாமல் சென்றது தான் மன குறைவு.. எனக்கு 40 ஆகி விட்டது தனியாக தான் வாழ்கிறேன்.. சில பேர் சுயநலத்தின் காரணத்தினால் சில பேர் வாழ்க்கை கேள்வி குறியாகி போகிறது என்று புரிவதில்லை.. ஒன்றும் சொல்வதர்கில்லை 🤷‍♂️
