NEEDTOBREATHE "Wasteland" (From The Live Room Sessions)
Музыка
The Live Room session was recorded in Studio A at the infamous Ocean Way Recordings (Los Angeles, CA) earlier this year, the same room that artists from The Beach Boys and Frank Sinatra to Whiskeytown, Radiohead, and Tom Petty used before us. Despite the fact that we were coming off of a long break from playing music together (the session was captured before the release of Rivers In the Wasteland and its following tour), we knew that the opportunity to record at Ocean Way was something we would regret passing up. We were a bit nervous because for many of these songs, this was the first time we had played them as a band since recording them. But as we began "making noise" to test the microphones and get sounds, something happened that moved us to take chances with the setlist and the song arrangements that we are so happy we were able to document. Hopefully you can feel the energy of this incredibly special time for us. In retrospect, this session represents a landmark for NEEDTOBREATHE. This is the band getting our mojo back.

My goodness it's so perfect. So delicate and well balanced. Not too strong, not too weak. Just perfect. Every little detail so well put together. The drums are light and elegant. The backup vocals are balanced so delicately with Bear's voice which doesn't go overboard. That mandolin kills me every time. The bass brings it all together in a hug so beautifully. Goosebumps!Goosebumps!Goosebumps!

2020 - still here.
Amen! OHHHH how I love this band⋰⋱⋰⋱❤
This song speaks to me in so many ways. I want to serve God and I have served Him for years but wandering away in my deeds, in my insecurities, in my fears and doubts...getting lost in serving and forgetting who I'm serving. They're right. "It's wrong when it seems like work" I need Jesus
Like the rest of the album, this song is fantastic. You guys are truly gifted.
I love how the song slowly builds up to this climax, how the drums begin so gentle and grow stronger to this... outburst.
It takes guts to evolve a song after you record it. Listen to the studio version of this song and then to this and it is night and day. NTB, you have created transformative magic in this version of Wasteland. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Nine years later and I still come down here to watch it.
After 3 years, I still turn to this song during times of struggle - specifically this version. It is very very rare that I ever like (or even love) variants of great original recordings (The studio LP version of Wasteland is superb), but this acoustic is simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It will be hard for any song to knock this out of my top 10 playlist.

i dont know how many years its been for me, but at my lowest times i still turn to this. The original version am sort of jsut checking this out
I remember hearing this first on their Live From The Woods album. When he says that line, "all of these people I meet, it seems like they're fine, yeah in some ways I hope that there not and their hearts are like mine," it would always break me down, because after leading worship for 12+ years and always getting overlooked and treated like complete garbage, that line would resonate so deeply! I'm still a Christian to this day, but I don't live according to other people's opinions.

not the only one!
The hum...when no one sings, I almost missed it but it is exactly the part of this song I needed.
Love the way this version ended... I wish they could have added it as an additional track to the album.
This video (and song in general) is so beautiful and moving! It always makes me so emotional when his voice shakes while singing the words "and their hearts are like mine"
YES YES YES - Such an amazing version of this song!
Man I didn't think this song could get better, then it did. WOW!

Oh My God
Good stuff.
😍
That drummer was an intern at their studio and one day they needed a drummer and someone mentioned he could play. They all laughed when they realized they had a really talented drummer making coffee runs. Now he is touring with one of the most talented bands in the world.

I don't think any band should make you embarrassed to be a Christian no matter what they say or do; but I do understand what you mean.

He is calling the lost out of the darkness into His wonderful light in these ends times. May His perfect peace which surpasses understanding come upon you and give you the greatest gift ever given...a free gift too...salvation in Christ! I almost gave up on this life many times...battled depression for over a decade and He took all the pain from my past away when I was reborn Jan 2019. Now He uses me to speak of His glory to so many. He did not come to condemn the world....but save it and soon miracles will happen in abundance leading so many to the Cross. A revival is coming. Love you all and God bless you all and all those around you in the mighty name of Yahushua Hamashiach!!!
Awesome version. Although it sounds like they had Bear turned up a little too high.
Reminds me of Kings of Leon
