For 2002, these graphics were damn good. I came back here expecting the graphics to be not so hot as I remembered when I was a kid, but no... they’re really good.

It's running on an emulator on PC so the resolution is better and the game is cleaned up a bit. If you played this on a PS2 on a regular TV it would look rough.

​​​@@pastandcurrent I still have an SD CRT tv and PS2 console, but the graphics look much better on the emulator and you can also apply a 60fps patch. The PS2 version isn't even running at 480i, so even on a CRT the picture is somewhat fuzzy. At a higher resolution (PCSX2 emu), car models in particular look much better, as a lot of detail in native PS2 version is lost at lower resolution. But I dont recommend playing this game on some big TV or at very high resolution, becasue at some point you can start seeing more and more imperfections. On my 42 inch panasonic X10 1024x768 plasma the game looks spectacular (wayyyyy better than native PS2 version). On my GT60 1080p plasma the game still look good but I can definitely see more imperfections. As for 1440p and 4K displays I recommend playing at 1080p with 1:1 scaling. The black bars will be quite large, however, the image size should be as large as an average CRT. Even on my 1080p plasma, I sometimes play PS2 games at 720p 1:1 because I find the PS2's assets hold up best at that resolution.

My all-time fav NFS GAME. Why? No upgrades, no nitro, no tuning, no bullshit. Only manufacter car, your skill against AI. Music was awesome too.

In my opinion, the PS2 version is the best Need for Speed game ever released, simply because pursuits never seem to be the same as the previous event, and is the first with gender selection.

I grew up with the xbox version and while it was great, the ps2 version is miles ahead actually. The physics in particular is so much better in the ps2 version.

@@stas_fri3124 For me Need For Speed needs the tuning because tuning stands for the need for more speed, it will be wild if after NFS 2021 Ea Games make Hot Pursuit 4 with the options of tuning cars and cop cars with performance and functional body kits. For example swaping in a 5.2 Modular V8 on a Crown Vic with a front guard.

I think AI drives bad for a good reason. If they are too good at driving players might not able to catch them and game will be almost impossible to beat (unless you start going in reverse)

This game best describes my whole entire childhood, I always love to play this when I come home from school on my PS2 and I just enjoyed it so much. It’s even fun playing as the cop as well. I feel nostalgia hitting me so hard.

Ahh the early 2000s… you were the best time for everything, games, movies, cartoons, music, i was super small then, but gameplays such as this always help in reminding me of a better, simpler time.

Always loved this mode

I spent countless hours on this game. I remember playing this on my ps2 while sitting on the bottom bunk of my bunk bed lol. Sometimes I would even break out the steering wheel I had for the ps2 I was like 9 or 10 y/o at the time so it felt like I was actually a cop😂. Sometimes you just have to appreciate how simple games were, cause this nfs never got old to me and it was a very simple game but I loved it.

Honestly wish they would remaster this for the new gen consoles, maybe even bring it to Xbox, I remember coming home from school and rushing through my homework to start up my PS2 and spend hours on this, Carbon, Gran Turismo, and Tekken. Those were the days...

The good old times with NFSHP2 ;) The murcielago police car was also the car with the highest top speed in the game (when you used the turbo boost)

The only thing i dislike about the PS2 version is the lack of cop cars compared to PC.

You made some hard work of the last bust, helped him a couple times lol

This made me want to play this again. Also I think cop cars can use a nitro/boost, I think it's L3 or R3, will help if you left behind and took too long on one of the racer.

This is simply the best NFS game out there.

NFS most wanted & Hot pursuit 2 And that's it

You’re the cop missions no matter which difficulty you place it is easy to get gold. I tried it in both the ps and some of the non ps versions. I believe if you can control the car you can catch the racers with a lot of ease.

Id be interested in seeing the cockpit view of the last few missions in this sexy vm. Looks awesome

I used to love this game

I had it on my PC and it did not have a dedicated graphic card so it used to lag a bit but I cherished every memory of it. It was my second NFS after NFS 2 SE

Every police car have boost by pressing R3 button In case you don't know it

Don't forget you have a nitrous boost when you play as the cops. It's L3 or R3 I think.

I know it's subjective, but i prefer the PS2 version of HP2 rather than the PC version

Yea, the PS2 version is what i grew up with. It was weird to see the PC version for the first time, thinking to myself, "This is not what I remembered". I really wish the PS2 version got a port to PC.

Yeah so cops have quotas they have to meet. Where I'm from quote day is on Thursday. That's when you see an excessive amount of cops on the road more than usual. Well at least that's my understanding of it.

I wish the police cars from the other versions were in the ps2 version. TS50, Coupe GTS, Viper, 911, and Diablo. The Diablo is more egregious since it’s in the intro, but is not playable. That must’ve confused some players back in the day

What region of NTSC U/C Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 are you using? SLUS 20362 or SLUS 20362GH? Mine is SLUS 20362GH and from 0:06-0:21, the screen keeps on hanging and hanging. The screen keeps on stopping. Is there any way to stop the hanging on the Hot Pursuit menu or World Challenge menu?

I used to ignore racers and cross the speed over 400 kmph by using nitros of the cop car

Why the fuck does the Crown Vic and M5 sound like a 1.6 liter Peugeot Diesel in this goddamn game? Whoever was responsible for that needs to be sucker punched. Same for applying V8 sounds to the Lambos and Viper.

PS2 version was made by Black Box Studios, while the others versions was made by EA Seattle.
