    She has some seriously thin fingers. We used to call them 'piano fingers'. So, I would imagine the action on that BC Rich is set very low. Those are not fingers that do well with high - or even medium-high - action. She found what works for her and got some good speed/accuracy out of it.

The first thing I was taught when I started taking lessons was to control the picking hand, focus on the breath and have a relaxed posture. I think a lot of that is because she's managed to utilise her small hands very effectively! someone with bigger hands would find it more difficult to make smaller movements as it requires a lot more precision(especially the faster you move them) where as having smaller hands means her max "lift" of a finger wouldn't be as high as someone with bigger hands. Same goes for the picking hand, the range of motion is slightly smaller/shorter too! If she has a lot of flexibility and can pull of big stretches then she's pretty much sorted!

    The level of distortion allows for a lot of sloppiness. I'm not saying she's a sloppy player, her technique is actually fantastic, I just mean to say that the more distortion you add the lazier you can allow yourself to be, which can often give the illusion of effortlessness. Though she clearly has this song down pat. If you want to see the epitome of "making this look too easy" check out polyphia. That guy will intentionally play things in a more complicated way than normal, either because it provides a more specifically tuned sound to what he wants or just because he likes the way it makes his hands look lmao.

  • @DatHombre

    @DatHombre

    @@Shiek200 I've never understood the notion that distortion hides your errors. If anything it makes your small errors much more noticable? Like I straight up don't understand how anyone thinks otherwise. And I love Polyphia but I dont know what you mean about him playing the way he does because "he likes the way his fingers look" lol I mean maybe Im wrong but Ive never heard him say that. But he has said that he adds extra complexity to his riffs since his fans are primarily guitar players and always enjoy that about them. (Assuming you're talking about Tim, not sure I've ever actually heard Scott talk about his writing style)
