Necromunda Narrative Battle Report: Death Maiden Protein

Ойындар

In a moment of precious hobby time I played a narrative scenario for Necromunda. This video tells the story of the fight. I try to narrate the happening without too much rules explanation. While editing I got lost in the rabbit hole of special effects. Please let me know how you liked or disliked the editing style of this skirmish, especially the dice tray animation.

Nice video! The models and table look great and I love the special effects. Personally I think that explaining the rules and dice rolls increases the replay value of the video. What better way to learn the rules than to rewatch the video over and over again. Your intro to the story is good too. The transitions are good and I like that you took the time to make a background for the table. It's much better that seeing a garage or hobby room in the background. One suggestion, keep your arm out of the video. Surely you can show the movement of the models without the distraction of your arm. Don't take that the wrong way, I thoroughly enjoyed the video and I'm not trying to be critical but it is your art and something so simple could make it so much better. Maybe it's not as simple as I think it is since I don't do videos. I'm just being an arm chair quarterback. Anyway, keep up the great work!

thank you very much for watching and providing such a detailed feedback. its much appreciated. i have a question regarding your statement "personally I think that explaining the rules and dice rolls increases the replay value of the video": Do you mean the dice rolls in this video do a good job in explaining the rules and thus increase the replay value of the video? or would you wish to have more insight in how these numbers came together (e.g. why does fighter X need 4+ to hit?)? Because from my perspective i didnt really want to teach the rules, i merely want the dice rolls to be there for the folks that know the rules to comprehend what happens why. i wanted it to be kind of unintrusive so that you can see and follow the action instead of concentrating on me crunching numbers. regarding the arm: i was considering it before and will continue to consider how to handle it. thanks for the feedback :D

@@precioushobbytime First of all let me emphasize again that I enjoyed the video. You had a great table, great models and great story telling. I play Necromunda for those very reasons but for me the game is about dice rolling. The story slowly unfolds until it's time to roll dice. At that point the anticipation builds as the number of dice is determined, what number is needed, plus this and minus that and then bam! The dice roll is made and in live games that's when the cheers, sighs and laughter begin! And then it goes again for save rolls and injury rolls and whatever else. When all that is done it slowly builds up again as the story continues. So, what I'm trying to say is that for me, you're skimping on the best part. The short answer is yes, more insight is needed on how the numbers came about. Double Skull Wargaming does a great job of this. He shows stats and walks you through what numbers he's looking for and shows it all on the screen before he rolls the dice. It's the most exciting part! I happen to like the dice roll and maybe most viewers do not but for me it increases the number of times I can watch a video since it's an easy way to learn the rules to the game and even more importantly, I can learn the rules for the different gangs. This is especially important since I don't get to play very often. I can watch a video and enjoy the story once or twice but I can watch it to learn gang rules over and over. Keep up the great work!

perfect. thanks for that insight. its very nice to know that since i am still considering what "my" style of representing the dice rolls is.

thank you very much. weeeeell, i am a total amateur when i comes to editing. so this video took ages to make. which is kinda sad because i think it looks cool and i would like every report to be that way. but i dont know yet if my next battlereport will be in the same style. the dice rolls took the most time actually xD
