I use to have the craziest dreams and one of them was really amazing and insightful more than anything ive ever learned actually. Within, an answer rendered about creation. When we focus our thought enough we dream these things. Imagine particular outcomes to dream them. Once you dream them your subconscious accepts it as an inevitability. And when that happens its attracted to you like...how do i put this...without pursuit?

This is the first of your videos I've watched- just happened upon it. Thank you - for me it is a good synchronicity to listen to your clear reference to many old ideas and powerful voices. Trying to Heimdall bridge physical nullification with deep call of dead family members- mention of Greek correspondence interesting, Hekate, - in particular the similarity of Hervor - Hervarar Saga with that of Antigone- dead father and brother and the need to bury the dead with propriety and the denial of life until accomplished- food for thought- staves to meditate on and paths to explore - I like your intro also

First and foremost - most fascinating video, it was a delight for a curious mind. Secondly, from what I gather the acts of necromancy for the Norse (and their gods) was to just get the information/sword/etc. from the dead and then let them go back peacefully to their eternal slumber? Are there any records on rising the dead for the purpose of bringing back to life some dear person, or pet? I mean reanimating the untimely deceased beloved ones, and such.

Arith, you speak of the Christian influences on the Sagas. Actual changes to the original text. I'm sure Beowulf is another example of changes made to an original text to make it more Christian. An old story of Danes and Geats fighting supernatural forces, but written in Old English and discovered in an English monestary of all places. It would be wonderful to have the true and original text of these historic tales as told in their original language.

In another video you mentioned notions of reincarnation, and I have heard this from many others too. But then I hear of these stories of spirit meetings and ancestor commune. How do these two things exist at the same time? As of now I hear two different reasons: 1. Each being has 2 spirits within, and one becomes the next reincarnation, while the other is the one that stays behind and either becomes a spirit or goes to another realm (this is a shamanic belief seen in Mongolia too) 2. Between reincarnation phases is when one goes to one of the 9 realms, depending. You only go to these realms usually temporarily until you reincarnate again sometime later. Spirits exist because they somehow get stuck and cannot reincarnate or go to the other realm for reasons such as curses or emotional reasons. Are either of these correct? I would love to hear your take on this

11:46 I did notice the Val from what you mentioned previous with Val Galdrar, and I had a thought: does that mean Valhalla means "hall of the dead"? Bc my swedish mind always thought it had connections with whales ngl (val in swedish meaning whale, so I hope you can see the confusion ^^") anyways this was an immensely informative vid!!! thank you so much my friend

Arith, you mention that the dead respond to CHANTS or SONGS. Why do spirits respond to MUSIC? Is there anything that pinpoints to that?

Isn't part of the problem with draugar is that they had the unpleasant habit of leaving their mounds and harrassing the living? Like Thorolf from Eyrbyggja Saga for example, among others.

One was Leek, that's for sure and comes in the sources as well, and in Swedish traditional folk magic still used. The others I'm still trying to figure them out. Could also be Aconite, but that one I'm not sure it was used in the north, but rather in southern Atlantic countries, as it was still used in modern witchcraft related to Necromancy in the British Isles, Gallician and Portuguese folk magic. The dirt of a burial mound/grave is often mentioned in later sources, 16th century onwards, which may include mold and lichen formed in such environment.

I am curious that it was recorded that the dead could not speak. Perhaps newly dead could but the longer they were dead they could not? Or whether an intercessor such as Hekate nearby would be why the dead could speak, because it is she who has summoned them as the Norse deities did.

At the end you say a prophetess is the vessel through which they speak. So if someone had that ability the dead could speak to them without runes?

Nice video. A few nitpicks. I don't think that syllable vol in voluspa is not the same as the val in valhalla. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Völuspá. IIRC Jackson Crawford mentioned that the kind of magic named Seidr was only practiced by women, and we know little about it, so Odins death galdr cannot have been seidr. As you say we don't have archeological evidence of riruals in which the living norse tried to contact the dead, but in the saga named Helgakvida, a woman wakes up her dead father in a graveyard to inherit his sword.
