Does your cat prefer regular ground-level bowls or elevated bowls like this one from Necoichi? Let us know about their preferences in the comments! Thanks for watching.

Ground level and even containers.. even on the ground. Personally thet will eat wherever and however if they're super hungry. I did however see my cat not eat when she was hungry but came back later 🤷♂️ I have a beautiful lovely grey tuxedo girl cat 🐱 🐈 😻 🐈⬛ 🥰

A cheaper way is to add your dish on elevated surface. Take the smaller plate, hot glue (or whatever glue you like) the bottoms together. You have your flat dish on top, no corners, and the upside down bowl elevates it. Place on those waffle shelf liner /rug liners and no movement. Can purchase all at dollar store. I used the glass plates/bowls.

I got this for my geriatric cat. He's got arthritis and it's harder for him to get around. The bowl is just easier for him to eat from. I also like that the food doesn't get pushed into the corners because it's a struggle for him to get food at the edge in a regular bowl.
Just from observing my own cats, I believe whisker fatigue is real. You do such wonderful reviews. 🥰

I'd have to agree since cats are sensitive to any form of touch, so I can understand the whiskers being affected as well. (Not every cat is the same cat so I understand if some people think their cat is totally unaffected by these things, etc.) This was a great review for sure. I've had these bowls for years and the cats love it, and they have yet to chip, but when kittens they preferred low bowls.

just appreciating how helpful this channel/ videos really are...helped my rivaling 4 cats to become friends, thank you!
I love the Necoichi line! I use the large food dish for dry food along side the water bowl, the regular sized bowls for wet food, and the minis for treats since my dad hates stepping on leftovers. I love how they’re dishwasher safe and I’ve had them for just over 6 months and they look like new still, plus the kitties love them, they eat all of their wet food now where as before with the floor level stainless steel plates they would eat maybe half of what I put out for them ❤️
Love your videos! These videos were literally so useful when I got my first kitten

Grace, it's wonderful to hear that you found the videos useful when you got your first kitten. It means a lot. Thank you.
Grace was a stray, but definitely has Persian in her. She has a pretty serious nasal issue sometimes. When it is bad, I have noticed that elevating her bowl helps. Yes, I take the cheap way out, I stack her existing dish on a thick book. No disrespect to Solzhenitsyn, but Gulag Archipelago, volume 1 is the perfect height.

I love the bowl, great idea. Thanks for the video and link. I found the bowl on Chewy.
I use the CatGuru cat food tables/stands in combo with rubber bottom stainless steel bowls for the cat food and water here! The low profile stainless bowls are easier to wash than a bowl with a stand attached. I really like the CatGuru products, especially the table and the litter scoop holder, they’re very thick and durable feeling, simple designs and very functional!
Let me just say I really appreciate your acknowledging that whisker fatigue is a matter of scientific dispute. Too many internet sources will happily affirm whatever they agree with as unquestionable fact, on almost any topic imaginable. It's diminishing our ability to remain skeptical of the unproven, to the detriment of society. As for whisker fatigue, it's as reasonable explanation as I've seen for why one of my cats occasionally decides to fish the dry food out of her bowl and eat it off of the floor, so I'm willing to consider it's a real condition, but that's not a good enough basis to pass it on as fact.
My cats love these raised bowls! They are awesome and definately worth the price!
That bowl is so preety 😘 😍 and i love that you post vet advices too😻🐾stay safe 😻
Great video ! I've had this bowl now for 5 months . All I buy for this brat Scottish fold I have is Necoichi. Their product are great. I did remove the rubber on the bottom because it sucks lol . It is on the Necoichi plate so it doesn't move around . U have to be extra careful when handwashing too. It'll chip!!happy Halloween !!!
So glad I came across this. My kitten is about to 1 y.o in a few wks and I suspect she’s having whisker fatigue,as I’ve noticed she doesn’t eat much out of her bowl, but will have a field day with her food that’s on her lick mat. I saw this bowl on Amazon and currently have it in my cart. Gonna give it a try and see if miss mamas likes it :)
I have a DIY-related question. One of the things I'm most looking forward to in adopting the cat that I'm finally (hopefully!) adopting this saturday, is figuring out the different ways I can make DIY toys for it. I've been researching like mad in many areas, and currently for the bowl I'm of the mind for a non-plastic slow feeder, but only just tonight I've started reading about this "elevated" thing. But about 5 minutes into browsing, it occurred to me -- I should just be able to attach some object to the bottom of the bowl that I get to make it elevated, right? As long as I do it securely, and of course not having whatever material I seal them with to be like dripping down the side (glue or whatever) that if I do it cleanly, I can just created the elevated detail myself. Right?
You do such wonderful reviews. :)

:-) Glad you appreciated that!
We bought some similar bowls several years ago, called “Classy Bowl” off Amazon. The ones we got are ceramic. Easy to clean. We think these work good for our 2 cats. We think it’s better to not fill dry food too deep, so they don’t rub their chin into the food. And of course wash every day.
This bowl is PERFECT for my Himalayan that had trouble with lower narrow bowls.
We have 2 of these bowls for our boys (well one is not extra wide, but same brand). Our experience, used only for wet food. We went for these bowls for a couple of reasons. 1 one of our cats would NOT eat the food if it puddled up in the "corners" of their other bowls. We were wasting a lot of food because he just didn't want to eat it if it wasn't in the center. 2, one of our cats is a shoveler, and would frequently eat too fast, and make himself sick. We had also heard anecdotally about whisker fatigue, and our boys are seniors and one of them seemed to have trouble arching his shoulders correctly for our other bowls. For us these bowls fixed a lot of our problems. Our shoveller cannot get his chin low enough to eat too fast. The shape and material allows all of the food to fall back into the center, or it at least can't build up anywhere. Our one cat who wouldn't eat for very long (I think his shoulders would get stiff) will not eat fully and for longer. These bowls have been really good for us and our two senior boys, for their wet food. A couple draw backs, or things we had to fix. We actually super glued the silicon ring to the bottom of the bowl because it fell of EVERY time we washed it and would not stay back on if it was at all wet. This seems to be working fine, but I would love if it came just molded to the bottom. We do actually have a decent amount of spillage over the edge, even just using wet food. We have to sweep up dried tiny pieces of wet food every couple of days. HOWEVER. Our boys have literally done this with every bowl we own. I dont understand how but they some how manage to splat bits of wet food on the wall behind their bowls, regardless of height or sides 😅 so I really can't fault this product for that. It's hard to say whether this is all just me projecting my feelings on my boys about whisker fatigue and wanting a higher bowl. But these have definitely worked well for us. That being said, if you're handy, I'm sure you could build something just as functional, for less cost.
I've got a cat who had issues with often throwing up after eating. Someone recommended this bowl as potential help. I was skeptical but by golly it darn near eliminated his issue!

this is what I believe I dealing with with my boy! recently he's been throwing up after eating, so I've been looking at elevated bowls. I'm glad you're baby is doing better!
What an excellent and even-handed review. For those on a budget one can buy a similar, but not so pretty plastic bowl for about 1/4 of the price. I do think this may provide more reassurance for owners rather than their cats, but that's fine too. My two chaps eat wet food from such elevated shallow bowls. They eat their biscuits from fairly deep, fairly narrow cereal bowls. And, they eat their rodents anywhere, including the hall floor as has just occurred. Rascals! 😸😸
I have two Nekoichis and I still place wider bowls on top. Cat whiskers are indeed very sensitive. Great video as usual. Thank you ☺️

I try :) I make sure they eat well *LoL* I ❤️ your cats though! When I was trying to avoid buying the nekoichis awhile back, because of the price I went to Goodwill and bought tea plates with creme brûlée containers and stuck them together with epoxy glue. Then I placed the wide bowls on top each meal. I still have have those. I like the wider nekoichi that you featured here though 😊
I saw these and they are so cute 😍 But too expensive x3 for a food dish. I just buy the small plates and use them. I use 12 plates a day so cheapest and easiest for us. But so tempting.. maybe 3 just for holiday meals for a bit of kitty glam so they feel included. 😆
My Ghanima loves the limited edition normal-sized sakura edition of this bowl and doesn't really have issues with her whiskers. My only complaint is the bottom rubber is a pain in the butt to put back on if you do not dry both the bottom of the bowl and the rubber very well. I also cuddle her face to death when she sleeps in my lap and she just lays there dead despite bumping her whiskers a lot so I question if whisker fatigue is a thing.

How old is mallory?? Shes pretty and unique!!
I've successfully used the Dr. Catsby's bowl for my cat's dry food and regular, ground-level flat-ish ceramic dishes for my cat's wet food but I just bought a couple of these Necoichi bowls to try out for her dry and wet foods after reading of the benefits for their posture, joints, etc. I also purchased the raised Necoichi water dish. It all set me back a boujee buck or two but if it improves her quality of life while she's still young (4) it's a small price to pay. =) I do think whisker fatigue is a thing, as I have actually seen my cat pull her face back from a very small treat dish several times while licking up her puree treats. I now use that small treat dish for my own condiments. =)

@@AllAboutCatsYT Yes she is very loved! As far as the bowls go, it's been a full day since she's had them. She eats and drinks about the same amount as the ground-level dishes and bowl. Cannot say if the Necoichi bowls are more comfortable for her or not but she looks more comfortable while consuming. And the bowls just look terrific! I actually bought the tilted version of the ones shown in the video.
Even if some cats can get by with their usual bowls, they end up feeling like kings and queens when they eat off of these elevated bowls. Lol That’s what it is all about! I’ll consider it. Maybe I can use this Necoichi bowl for her wet food and the stainless steel kitten bowls for her small amounts of kibble and then hide them.
Bought the dish for my rescue Scottish Fold, Penelope. She, like many of the breed, is likely to develop joint issues as she ages unfortunately plus she has the flatter face. Thought this would be easier for her as she ages. She's about 8 now. It does seem to work great for her and I like the fact she doesn't need to lean down much at all as she eats. Have no clue about the truth or not about whisker sensitivity so can't judge that. I took off that plastic goofy rim on the bottom right away, just a big nuisance.
I want to get one or two 👍💖

2 жыл бұрын
Noted!
Going to try a DYI elevated bowl for one of my old feral cats to see if it helps him, thanks ( edit, JB weld two old dishes together, tomorrow will put out in front of the camera ha ha)
I tried this for my two cats. They both pushed wet food over the edges when eating so I returned them.
So because I treat the cat like a Queen who has a fountain and everything you could possibly imagine, I thought hey an elevated bowl would be cool but really what I was looking for was something to keep the food in it. My cat has a tendency to get the food and turn her head she's young so it's not a tooth thing it's more of a predator thing I think she grabs it and twists like a shark or like a lion or something and the food goes everywhere so I was thinking of a large rimmed bowl. I figured while I was at it I elevated as well her old bowl was elevated. Of course the one I ordered online look much bigger in the picture and only had a small area and it was lightweight so she basically tossed it about. I've tried to recreate a bowl with a dollar store large plastic bowl put inside of another bowl. I'd have to glue it and I haven't done it yet. I don't mind inventing things but I'm shocked that these smaller bowls are not larger so that the cat will keep a cleaner eating area. I guess they did not think about that. Maybe I need to invent this thing
If only cats could talk to humans :--) Thanks for sharing your thoughts of this bowl. Be well.
My one cat (Nuisance) is geriatric n has arthritis of the spine. Thrift store saved his feeding issues so he doesn't have to eat ground level. Don't know what the correct term of name it's called by (or what the true purpose was), but it's a elevated glass pedestal type of bowl that was made many moon yrs ago. Without measuring, they hold tons of food n water without any messy issues. I find em everywhere at thrift stores still to date, and only spent approx. 2 bucks on each one. So save yourself the money folks n go thrifting, or ebay if ya cannot get out. Have a super blessed day everyone 🌍
