Well, nice comparison, but you are missing out on a few things here. First, there was actually 2 Versions of each, the 2008 & 2015. A 2008 Version with a clear dome and a 2015 Version without those white big Lips covering most of the Teeth. I myself have these 2 Versions, while you have the others. Second: Gigers first Version of the Alien was translucent from Head to toe (which was also available from Neca in ¼ scale) and after they had to paint the suit for the movie, the Dome stayed clear in the beginning, but they had to change that too and go for the less transparent Version. That‘s why both Versions are accurate in their own ways. I wish I had ALL of them, that would make for a total of 6 great Big Chaps in ¼ scale, but I am happy to have at least 4 of them.

In the movie they actually didnt change the opacity of the domes, sometimes it was clearer than other shots, the fog on the dome was cause in the dead space inside the head, which was a collection of condensation. In behind the scenes you can also see the production crew spraying the dome with water to make it wet, with dry ice machines and shooting shots mostly in the dark to cover up the man in the suit. This all adds up to why you didnt get a look into the dome properly. Behind the scenes of the alien show you perfectly the skull inside and more so in promo shots when it wasnt being shot with psychical effects.

Neca´s best example of evolution. We all got the horse teeth 2008 haha.... and really outdid themselves on 2015 re issue, and well even more for the 40th anniversary. Still one of best BigChap figures out there

Big chap is the best version of the xenomorph. I have the smaller 7 inch figure and contemplating on getting the bigger one.

Nice review! Can I ask where you get the stands from? My 2019 version is all weak at the knees and can’t support himself (very much like me in life)

I like all of them but yes the 2019 looks the best overall. With the details like missing paint on the 2008 teeth and 2019 toenails, could this be just specific to yours and vary amongst others out there? I know with quality control some things get missed and it can be random what you get. Nice to see all 3 together. I have a 2008 version I have slightly repainted and mounted to a base. Also painted the dome black as it was damaged so have a hybrid between the original and the later avp aliens. I want to pick up the translucent version but am not keen on the lips on it and the 2015 variant which kinda looks sleepy or goofy. That is one thing they did right with the 2008 and the 2019. Good vid.

Hey there! Which stands are you using to prop them up? This is my first action figure, and I don't know if I should be expect it to be able to stand on its own. I haven't been successful in finding a pose which will last for more than a few hours, but yeah, don't know what the 'norm' is for these types of models... Any insight you can share?

Excellent review. I have the 2015 version which has a right lower leg which is slightly splayed outwards. Does the 2019 version have the same splayed leg?

Thanks for the support. And the answer unfortunately is yes. I was hoping it wasn’t true when they did the 2019 version, but since they used the same sculpt, that’s what we got.

Absolutely my friend. I haven’t been up to date on new NECA 1/4 scale releases, so I’m not sure if they are going to release a 1/4 scale Predator any time soon. If they do I will definitely consider picking it up depending on the film it’s based on. I would really like if they did 1/4 scale figures based off the Predators film. Salute!

2019 WIN

I have just bought the 2019 version and that dome is not as transparent as the one you've shown. Also all the nails on hands and feet are perfectly done. I think you just got unlucky.

I agree about the dome. I don't recall ever seeing a hint of anything like a skull or bone details in the 1979 movie. When I first saw the original Alien figure by Kenner, I was like wtf is going on with the head? It's all fucked up and weird. Nothing like the film at all. Figure designers and producers need to make those kinds of details way more subtle. I don't want my Alien figure looking like it's got a fucking sky light for a head. I prefer the Neca 40th Anniversary version.
