Epson EF12 - $1000 CAD Nebula Capsule - $880 CAD Samsung Freestyle - $800 CAD Emotn N1 - $400 CAD I was leaning towards the Epson but the $1000 price range was a tough pill to swallow for a bedroom projector. I came across the Emotn N1 and after some research felt I wasn't losing much in quality/aesthetics while saving $600.

I just bought a freestyle(2 days ago, due to be delivered tomorrow) for the currency equivalent of $570 in a country from Eastern Europe. I can't help but wonder if they use cheaper components here, or what causes this much of a price difference

I got the FreeStyle at launch for full price. Not only is the thing noisy as hell but it also shuts down because it overheats. If the nebula has no heat issues I’d say it’s a no brainer

Each projector will warm up because of the lamps setup. I feel that the Nebula is overall the better choice here

Nice comparison. Looks like Nebula is one to go, but personally I do not agree with your score regarding sound quality. For me Samsung is a little bit better in this field with nicer deep sound.

I am in need of a projector that fits into a backpack and can be used for a colorful business / medical presentation. Source will be a laptop with USB-C. I don't mind having to get a USB-C to HDMI cable but need to be sure that text is sharp and it is bright enough for a lit conference room. I am leaning towards the capsule 3 laser as it appears to accomplish what I am needed but I have not seen anyone yet comment or review this projector for my use case. Please assist.

Nice comparison overall. Though prices seem quite off. Nebula Capsule 3 currently 899€ (799€ currently on Amazon). Samsung Freestyle currently 519€ (470€ on Amazon) In general I'd like to get the Capsule 3, but is it really worth to pay 330€ more? I'm not so sure about that point.

Yeah because nobody is actually buying the Freestyle, so Samsung lowers the price to entice people to buy it. I have the Capsule 3, and tried the Freestyle a friend had. The capsule 3 is simply way better value even if it does cost more now. Better build quality, better picture quality, higher brightness, longer lifespan, better speakers, built in battery, an actual full-size HDMI port, an AUX port, etc.

Got my capsule3 for €599 on black friday. Never even considered the freestyle to be an alternative, although it was the device that initially peaked my interest in portable projectors. Also be careful you don't get the old freestyle, which is notoriously slow and laggy with a very under powered CPU, the 2nd gen (which I expect is the one tested here) is a lot smoother.

For a room with daylight you may want to check some more powerful projectors.

How do you connect hard drives on these projectors? No usb a port, only micro hdmi port and usb c for charging port? I'm still deciding what projector to buy.

You can connect via a Type-C port - works fine. You can use a USB hub to help you use more peripherals.

The value for the money is heavily won by the Freestyle. That is the winner for me.

One should ask why open-box is readily available. Usually Samsung doesn't have a good track record with reliability and repair.

I think the first vid with the flowers in the screen quality chapter is think that the nebula capsule laser has way more vibrant colours than the samsung freestyle

Most of the settings are configurable. But yeah, this is true. In some scenes I like the Samsung more, feels a bit more natural. In other cases I prefer the Nebula

Yep, in my area, Nebula Capsule 3 is on the 1,700+, on the other hand, Samsung Freestyle is 1,300...

Samsung Freestyle has more widespread support worldwide, Nebula Capsule does not. I find this a very important fact. However, today the Samsung Freestyle 2 generation is on offer for around $700 and sometimes even less

No contest here, Nebula is brighter and runs on battery with a laser output, also faster OS and 4 point keystone correction. Samsung freestyle was a fail, you can see that as it is now worth half its original msrp, from only being on the market for little less than a year, also by Samsung's desperate attempts to include "additional" accessories to get rid of their Freestyle inventory. Also the Freestyle is not portable, unless you're willing to pay for an additional $200 battery pack. Only reason why it would be better is because it's half it's original price now, and for people who don't know much about projectors looking for a first entry level unit.

This is kinda fake. Samsung Freestyle, at least in my country, is priced at 530 euros, while the Nebula Capsule 3 isn't even available anywhere, as it's out of stock. Best I could find was Nebula Capsule 2, which is 650 euros. So what the hell are you talking about? Even the link you've provided sends you to a Nebula Capsule 2.

Nebula capsule 3 is a piece of sh..t It has overheating issues that makes it shutdown unexpectedly, besides, keystone correction is terrible. Samsung freestyle in general is good, everything works fine, the down side is the fact that you need to buy a separated battery One projector in that category that is the best option is the Xgimi Halo plus, if you want to buy a portable smart projector, Xgimi Halo plus is the way to go
