Nebraska & Iowa Tornado Outbreak - April 26, 2024

We documented 9 tornadoes from several supercells on this historic tornado outbreak from Lincoln, Nebraska to Harlan, Iowa. Most of these tornadoes were highly visible, but moving at speeds of up to 50 mph.

    It is said that one of the tornadoes had winds at 244 MPH

    @@AtmosChaos I bet it won't get an EF5 rating. It may get either EF3-EF4

    @@apismellifera1000 seems likely. Honestly, Moore OK was an EF5 - if this one does end up being rated EF5 (which the damage we drove by looked EF3- but we didn’t see the whole path) Moore would almost need a new category of EF5+

    @@apismellifera1000 could a few of the vortices on this have briefly had EF5 winds, maybe?- did it consistently? I’d guess no. Although we were’t on El Reno back in 2013- from the videos it appears that El Reno was stronger than this.
