When someone says that they cannot get the whole tornado in the camera frame, that might be a clue that they are WAY too close!

You obviously never been in a large tornado their car as you can tell has not fixed to withstand the tornadoes . They will turn right around on a dime. It comes right back at you. These guys are way too close and it has nothing to do with being a Karen. It's about being through these many times and seeing the massive destruction.@somnuswaltz5586
If I may interject, please remember El Reno and don’t get underneath the main circulation… 4:45 you’re clearly too close and if that base descends, you can’t outrun it.

Exactly. I really dislike when storm chasers go so close they are getting hit with debris. These guys get excellent footage but there is absolutely no need to get that close. It makes me not want to watch their otherwise excellent videos. Makes me feel sick with worry. When they were "too close" to get the whole thing in the frame, yeah, way too close. That would be a good time to back up. We have seen many tornadoes change direction suddenly, or put another funnel down right behind storm chasers. Never forget Tim Samaras. He was actually quite careful. In the end it wasnt enough. Don't get too complacent. There are telephoto lenses for a reason. Your footage is just as good when you are a safer distance away as when you get into the edges of it. Great footage, but I almost clicked off in those couple of spots you got too close. Otherwise, some incredible footage here.

Amazing footage, but I found it disheartening the way you Woo-hooed after it hit that house. Someone's home was shredded, and you let out a subdued cheer. The chasers I watched yesterday immediately went to homes to help. Not one celebrated the event, saying it was awesome. You have great footage, but the way the video was edited, it made you appear cold-hearted. I hope it was due to editing, and that wasn't your first response.

they seem rather careless with how close they get to the tornado itself as well. they may think they are invincible, but the 200+ mph winds (F3, i know, measured wind speeds (determined by Reed Timmer)) tend to not care if chasers are careless. last night a tornado did a 180 while in touchdown mode while another from the same storm was anti-cyclonic. very hard to determine where or when a tornado will change direction.

I can understand being in this mist of an incredible storm and seeing a house torn to shred with my first thought being "wow look at how that house got ripped up!" and then the next being "I hope those people are okay." I know that they didn't mention people and that they were just worried about getting the shot but that's because they were more concerned about getting this great video of a tornado for you and whoever else clicked on this video to see a great tornado with no initial thought of it ripping up houses leaving people homeless because that's what tornadoes do

Good footage! I really admire all of you brave enough to go out and chase these terrifying storms! I survived an F3 the one year I lived in Ohio. I’m a California girl and I can tell you that tornadoes are far more terrifying than most of the earthquakes we get out here, excluding some like the Northridge quake back in the early 90’s. That F3 went right over my school in Owensville, Ohio and sounded like we were laying underneath railroad tracks. It tore a bunch of the roof off the school and flipped some cars over. I’ll never forget the sky turning that dark greenish brown and seeing the funnel heading straight for my high school. These shots. Just wow. How I would have loved to have been there. As someone already wrote: Don't judge the comments. They are commenting and watching live, they are not thinking and they sound quite young. They are also nervous, probably scared and carried away by the impressions. Imagine yourself being in that car. Moreover, the obvious does not always have to be mentioned - that is not a lack of empathy. But I wonder if they are aware of the danger? They don't seem professional and rather naive. Do they know what they are doing? Anyway, these are unique, impressive video recordings of nature's most powerful windstorm. Nature is, as Richard Dawkins once said, not cruel, only pitilessly indifferent. This is one of the hardest lessons for humans to learn. We cannot admit that things might be neither good nor evil, neither cruel nor kind, but simply callous-indifferent to all suffering, lacking all purpose.
This is some of the most beautiful footage i've seen of tornadoes yet but it's so hard to hear juxtaposed against the blasé conversation like "aw, poor house" and "just took out that house, wooo". IDK man. Don't ever forget these are peoples' lives you're watching change.
