This sounds surprisingly good. How does it compare to the OG videomic?

I'm not exactly sure what an OG video mic is, This is a really interesting little microphone, The advantage of something like this is got built in noise canceling it can pick up stuff from all the way around if you need it to and you can almost use it like a conference calling nic or just a regular mic, it's going to have a different type of sound than a lavalier or a shotgun microphone or your average mic due to the noise canceling in all that stuff going on but it's kind of one of those deals where if you like the way it sounds and you like the features it's probably worth checking out, My advice would be if you're thinking about getting one of these see if you can find some more reviews on it and watch as many as possible and see how it sounds in a whole bunch of different rooms on a bunch of different people's voices and it sounds good for the majority of people then hey it might be something to look at, if I need it to pick up the audio from a group of people and didn't have several different microphones available I think this is probably what I would grab

@@dannylightning-audio-reviews Thanks! :) I was referring to the original VideoMic from Rode. It was around 100 bucks, like this one, and sounded quite decent. The AM10B is on the way to me for review. I'm quite interested how it performs. It's like a stripped down to basics version of the Sony ECM-M1 or the B10.

I kind of thought you meant one of the roed mics, but I was like I wonder if OG is a brand that I've never heard of lol, generally a shotgun microphone performs best outdoors, I can't remember the little video mic shotgun has the interference tubes on the side or not, maybe it's more of it just a small diaphragm condenser but when you get those interference tubes on the side of shotgun microphones they're basically trying to cancel out on what it sounds and when you got a indoor room with some reverb when your voice is going into the front and bouncing back into the side of those resistance tubes it kind of confuses the shotgun Mike and can cause some phasing issues so a true shotgun microphone is not great for indoors but a small diaphragm condenser pencil mic is basically a shotgun without the resistance tube and they do pretty well, Something like this nearest dream should do well indoors and outdoors, and the built-in noise canceling is pretty cool, but I thought was really interesting is I heard all these noises when listening through headphones but on the recording they weren't Paris so it's quite an interesting microphone setup, I think most people would like it and it's very versatile so you can do all kinds of stuff with it that you can't do with your average microphone so if you like the way it sounds it's definitely worth checking out, hopefully you like it when it shows up, it's a lot of fun to play with

@@dannylightning-audio-reviews Thanks! :) I just received my mic. Looks neat so far especially for the price. But may I ask if you got the included mount to work? The ball head is okay and self explanatory - but how am I supposed to tighten the cold shoe mount with just one wheel attached? I can either fixate it on the mic or on the camera. But not on both. Am I stupid or did someone not think this through lol?

on the bottom of the mount there should be a wheel and a flat square peice, the square slide into the hot shoe and the lower wheel tightens it to the cameras, the upper threads should also have a wheel attach so you just screw the mic into the threads until its snug and you can try to tighten the wheel if its not screwing on all tee way but there should be a upper and lower wheel on the ball head, maybe see if that is hiding in the box some place if you missing one of the wheels.. you may just need to find it and install it
