    Good Job Frankie with this video. I am a gardener myself, but I usually would just pull the pansies out when they got leggy and put in something else. I also like a visual. You are excellent in your delivery and showing exactly where and why to prune where you did. 5 stars

    I generally keep my pansies going throughout the summer . We live in central NYS and the pansies generally survive the winter and continue to grow in the spring despite the fact that they are annuals. Why do the Pansies get so long and leggy? Is there a way to prevent this?

    Hi Frankie. I am Paul's sister and I met you in February at he and Sylvia's anniversary party. Our succulent favors are doing wonderfully. As a matter of fact I have one that looks like chives that went wild when I transplanted it to an old coffee mug. The other day I transplanted it again to a big glass planter. Do you know what kind of plant it is? Not sure if I can upload a picture here.

    Hi! It is great to hear that they are doing well. The thin succulent is called a Blue Chalk Finger or the Latin name is senecio vitalis. Happy Growing!

    This is good advice for any potted plant that has grown too gangly (with long stems). But I'm looking for advice on how to keep them from becoming gangly. ?? I have a neighbor that grows her pansies in the ground and keeps them coming back every year. Really. (I live in zone 5.) They also bloom all summer long. Really! She said she keeps them well clipped... so I want to try it too. And, unfortunately, her explanation was pretty vague. I dead-head them all summer but I usually end up with plants similar to what is shown here. Hers never become this long. I'm trying to find advice on when and how to cut the full plant back. Any one know anything about this?

  • @frankiesforest

    @frankiesforest

    To prevent them from becoming gangly, make sure they get plenty of sun. This will prevent them from trying to grow out to the sun, which makes them gangly. And also you can prune them back whenever you feel it is time for it (I like to do it in late spring). Hope that helps 😃

    Hello, How long have you had this pansy plant ? Is it an annual or perennial? Does it bloom in summer and winter?

  • @frankiesforest

    @frankiesforest

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello. So some pansies are perennials depending on the zone. I live in a zone 5-9, so they are not perennials where I live. However you can look up the zones that your pansies can tolerate, as well as the zone you live in and see if they match. But not all pansies are perennials. Happy Growing!! 😊

    ..would you know if pansy flowers are self pollinating or do they need the bees to be pollinated?

  • @frankiesforest

    @frankiesforest

    3 жыл бұрын

    Pansies need to be pollinated by insects to start producing viable seeds. They will also sometimes self-seed if you allow them to.

    Many times if it is a harsh and snowy winter, it will loose it’s leaves and in the spring they will all reappear! That is only if you get a perennial variety.
