I hate that you've had to go through this, but I'm so grateful that you live to tell this to help others. You're in my prayers for healing and strength to overcome this. Amen. I found out I have a hiatal hernia from images from my colonoscopy last year. My doctor has never said anything about it after that discovery, but I have been experiencing a few thing s you stated and more, so I will be looking into changing doctors and moving forward with getting this corrected. Of all the hernia videos out there yours is by far the most importan because it is honest. Of course we all want a quick & easy fix but thats not always possible. Its tragic that sometimes even the medical community chooses clicks over cures. Thank you, as you may have just saved my life & the lives of others. Although no blood (yet) the nausea & now vomiting have gotten progressively worse over the last month, so it's looking like more than just a flare. Had large HH that was also twisted, been struggling for over 20 yrs, offered surgery 2023 agreed to have it done. Told keyhole surgery, had it done then ended up with complications a tear in my oesophagus , blue lighted to another hospital straight into theatre, surgeon decided to cut me open to clean sepsis etc out, redid original surgery 2 weeks in critical care touch and go but I'm here now. my feelings go out to you x

Thank you so much for this. I pray that you get the best of health. I have a hiatal hernia and my doctor gives me antacids which made me the heartburn so much worse I had to stop them. Now I get full too fast I'm always out of breath and once in a while I feel like I cannot empty my body and end up barfing three times before I can sleep. The pain in my stomach when that happens feels like food poisoning or something. Im seeing my doctor asap but here in Canada the family doctor refers us to a specialist that usually takes forever months and months before u get an appointment. I went to the hospital and forgot to tell them about my hiatal hernia because I thought its from food poisoning and they just sent me home when the pain was gone.

Thank you. I would highly suggest getting it fixed. In hindsight I wish I would have been more proactive about getting mine fixed. Instead I listened to an in competent doctor who said they were no big deal.

Random Reviews Doctors don't take HHs seriously. I went from a simple HH with signs of Gastroparisis in 2012, with no ongoing instructions. Returning to my GP she ignored it. Then following a three hour vomiting session in Oct 2017, just prior to going overseas for a month, I placed myself on a Gastroparisis diet, I couldn't even look at food let alone want food. Finally in 2018 I had an endoscopy and was told, very seriously, I hiatal hernia type 3. Again no instructions from my Gastroenterologist or my GP. I simpky carried on with my self imposed Gastroparisis Diet. The beginning of April I was sent for a Barium Swallow because the pain was now under my left breast, was as it had been under my right breast. With some fluid return at night but rarely, definitely not acid reflux. I had been on a PPI for years due to long term medications, not because of my HH. My GP wanted me to go back to my Gastroenterologist because of the change in symptoms. I knew I was in trouble with Barium Swallow test by what happened during the test. My Gastroenterologist then wanted me to see a Surgeon. Well was that a shock. Virtually no symptoms, however I was told I needed surgery. A 1/3 of my stomach was in my chest, he still wanted a CT Scan done. Being in denial I said let's do the scan first. It was done the next day and I was back at my surgeon's rooms the next week. It was discovered that 2/3s of my stomach was in my chest and it was as big as my heart. Even though it is considered elective surgery, in my case I now have no choice. I get it done on the 13th June. He is treating it as emergency in as much as he says it will take about three hours and provided he "doesn't have to stick his hand in my chest", I will be in hospital for about five days. They say surgery is usually about 90 minutes and it maybe day surgery, if not you go home next day. Fortunately my Surgeon is more informative than my Gastroenterologist and my GP. The tests that can be required are an Endoscopy, a Barium Swallow x-ray and CT Scan with contrast. If they detect a esophagael spasm or other esophogus issues, you may require a Esophagael Manotemy. That is a tube down the nose, back of throat, into the stomach while conscious and takes approximately 45 minutes. I person has said this test is terrible and she has CF. I would suggest getting a regular assessment with a Gastroenterologist by having an Endoscopy if you have any symptoms after being told you have a hiatus hernia. Be pro active in your care, especially if told you have a type 3 or 4, which is rare. Doctors don't know everything and they aren't always right. I have had over 45 surgeries in 66 years. All of them, up to being sent to a specialist, there was nothing wrong with me. My pain and symptoms weren't happening, according to my GP at any given time. I couldn't stand up from a standard height chair after fracturing my distal femur. On removing the plate and pins 18 months later, I was told my ITB (iliotibial band) had been damaged. My GP and Orthopaedic treated me like I was neurotic.

@@randomreviews6207 Thanks. Everywhere I read, agrees with your opinion about it not being taken seriously. You do have to wonder how many do die from strangulated hernias or gangrene, through leaving it too long. If I hadn't researched and known about GP, I would have been in huge trouble during a month overseas trip. Slipping into a GP diet and maintenance, allowed even me to think the situation wasn't anything to worry about. We all live and learn and amazing what hindsight is. Take care.

I started throwing up blood also and went to ER where they said I had mallory Weiss tear. I pleaded with doctor for help and had surgical operation. I'm so happy I had operation changed my life. Welcome to the I should be dead club and thanks for sharing. Had the same surgery a year after you due to esophageal rupture while swallowing food. Glad you are recovering and doing well. It is a miserable experience to recover from. Wonder if you have recurring eating issues. My stomach was formed into a tube to replace esophagus so eating is challenging. Hope to never see a chest, NG, and feeding tube again. The ostomy bag was the worst.

It sounds like we had about the same issue but mine was from a hiatal hernia, not from eating. My stomach is also essentially a tube and partially resides in my chest now. I actually do not enjoy eating anymore...it kinda sucks. I agree, the ostomy bag was awful. I had to change it out about every 3-4 days and it would rip my skin. Hope you are doing better.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I am currently dealing with multiple symptoms from a hiatal hernia and having a difficult time getting doctors to address it. I hope you are doing well now.

Thank you for this video. It explains quite well, as what happened to my sister. She always stated about the ingestion. Violent throwing up. She had major surgery, but had 90 per cent of the stomach removed. Plus her esophagus was severed, dead tissue. Had a feeding tube, had a major infection. Needless to say, she went downhill fast. Passed away on 3/29/2022. So if anyone has these symptoms. Go to a doctor. My sister would be here, if was taken care of before.

I am sorry this happened to you . I am suffering from a hiatal hernia , and my doctor told me to have surgery to fix it . I am getting it done probably around August or September . I am still having symptoms and I am taking Anti acids to help cure ulcers , and to cure my esophagus from the damage of the acid. Sometimes I get this horrible pain right in the mouth of my stomach . It feels like some one just punched me . Did that ever happen to you ? Again I am sorry that this happened to you ,but I thank you for making it public . The first doctor I saw and the one that discover the hernial , told me that was nothing we could do about the hernia. That it was small to even consider surgery , but after 3 Months the symptoms still there , and even tho the medicine Helps with the acid , I am not ok. Finally I saw another Doctor that he told me that my best option is surgery , since I still getting very bad pains , and other symptoms . After watching your video I am definitely gonna have surgery. I am like you , always trying to find a natural way to cure things . I was looking at chiropractics , exercises , massages , but sometimes surgery is the best options for things . I did not get the type of pain you are referring to. For me it was general discomfort in my abdomen and frequent heartburn. I don't think this is a condition that is taken serious enough and perhaps because what happened to me is rare. I wish I had gotten mine fixed before it got strangulated and I wound up in my current condition.

I realized you cannot see the chest tube incisions. What you see is the incision that is between by ribs going around to my back.

Thanks so much for this video. I’ve known I have a hiatal hernia for a couple of years. Just yesterday I had what I thought was a heart attack. Docs have said hh is no big deal, but the attack yesterday seriously hurt and can’t be nbd. Have scheduled an appointment with specialist and if I have another attack like yesterday am heading straight to the ER.

I was told the same thing...HH is not a big deal and a lot of people have them and live fine with them. Well, I would disagree with any doctor saying they are no big deal. Maybe I am a rare occurrence but I would not take my chances. If I could go back in time I would have had it fixed before it had a chance to get strangulated.

How large did they say your HH was before this happened? I'm curious, were you throwing up or having severe symptoms at all before this happened? Or did it come on all at once? I'm getting told the same thing, they are no big deal but I am supposed to be wearing compression in my lower abdominal area for another condition I was born with and I think that has caused too much pressure on my HH.

So inspiring to see your recovery!! Thank you for sharing and for persevering!! Two quick questions: do you know the size of your hiatal hernia before this happened? As this is such a rare occurrence, were the surgeons able to suggest any specific risk factors you might have had vs others who have hiatal hernia surgery? I do not know exactly how big it was but it would bulge out just above my naval and looked to be about the size of a golf ball or slightly bigger. I was not told of a specific demographic that was more at risk and I do not know what caused mine. Several months after my second surgery to reattach my stomach and esophagus (so I could eat again) I noticed another hernia. It was bigger than the hiatal so I went and had it looked at at the beginning of 2019. The doctors told me it was an incisional hernia resulting from the prior surgeries. I went in on 7/8/2019 to have it repaired and come to find out I had 6 additional incisional hernias. I am home recovering from that right now. The recovery has been very painful and I will be out of work for 2-3 weeks.

Thank you for this video. I am going to act quicker now. I have a large Hiatal hernia. Sliding and the other kind pushing on your esophagus as well. My Gastro Dr sent me to another Gastro dr for a 2nd opinion.. This Dr said he wants to do 3 or 4 more tests. before he send me to a surgeon. We know I have reflux disease and GERD. I didn't like they were sending me for more test for my esophagus and not acting on the hiatal hernia yet. The dr didn't speak good English and was not answering all my questions in a way I understood. I didn't feel like going for 3 or 4 more tests and not even understanding why.. Do I really need 3 or 4 MORE tests? Who knows! I already had an endoscopy, cat scan and colonoscopy. He said I need to be AWAKE while they stick a tube up my nose and down my esophagus. AWAKE! I was going to go to the surgeon and not deal with all the other testing unless the surgeon requested it. I'm confused and annoyed.. Nobody said any of this after the initial tests.. Now, seeing your video, I realize I need to act quickly because I have had a few serious episodes like not being above to swallow after eating a minor amount of food. My original gastro dr warned of strangulation and twisting which he thinks is what caused my episode last week. He thinks it twisted after I ate and closed off the access to my stomach. He was to find me a surgeon and after 2 weeks went by I called him and he finally said to go for a second opinion. I'm frustrated and now a bit scared but I will not let this go. I will fine a surgeon immediately and take it from there.. Thank you again for sharing your story. It's motivating me to act quickly.

Very good video. My hernia strangulated also on November 13, 2018. Doctors saved my stomach and feeling much better. You are correct about these videos only surgery can fix a hiatal hernia. And if you dont fix it you will end up in emergency surgery facing life altering complications.

I was referred to a surgeon but I was afraid mainly of the side effects. I will need to go in and have it addressed. Last it was checked, it was 5 cm plus for the bigger one and I have another smaller one by it. It clearly sticks out

Thank you I have a twisted esophagus and also I’ve had a hiatal hernia it was repaired twice so now I can’t swallow everything comes back up.

This is just a theory based on my experience. I have the h-henia. When I did intense exercise, I was getting strong rapid pulsating at my solar plexus. I believe that the intense anaerobic exercises were strengthening my diaphragm and causing the hole to close up back to normal... while my stomach was still above the diaphragm. This closing of the hole, due to exercise, caused the stomach to start strangulating, and this is why I was getting the pulsating. Does this seem plausible or possibly what caused your dangerous situation? I saw that you mentioned exercise.

I am doing much better, thank you. I just had another surgery to repair 6 incisional hernias that resulted from my previous two surgeries. I am hopeful that is the end of my abdominal surgeries. Recovery has been very painful. I don't think people realize how often we use our abdominal muscles for things as simple as standing up or getting out of bed.

Hi just came across your video while I was researching haitus hernia causing chest pain. I realise it's a couple of years since you posted and I really hope you are doing well. Just a question for you if u dont mind answering? I was diagnosed with a haitus hernia 2 years ago I have had quite bad chest pain, back pain across my shoulder blades & down the back of the top part of my arms for last few days, I has a ecg today which was normal so not heart related, I feel unwell, not really feeling like eating, but managing to eat small meals, feeling sick on and off but not actually vomiting. I did not experience similar symptoms as you. For me it was mostly heartburn I dealt with and abdominal discomfort. It was not until the hernia got strangulated that I really started to feel sick. It was never overly painful though, even after my esophagus ruptured.

TYVM for sharing. I presently have a 10 cm HH and surgery is coming. I, too, vomited black coffee grain blood. I also aspirate into my lungs. I'm worried about the surgery and recovery process. I suffer from an aortic heart aneurysm (4.?) and a blood clotting disorder. This makes any surgery high risk.

Sir, did you experience any panic attacks? Or any sensations of poor circulation? They told me I have a Heital hernia, but small. It feels like belt like pressure in the upper part of the abdomen. Did exercise made feel more sick?

I did not have any panic attacks. I never worried about it because the docs I spoke to said it was a condition a lot of people deal with. it must be rare for my type of hernia to get strangulated. Exercise did not bother me. Eating did bother me. It is unbelievable what this type of hernia can cause.

I have a hiatal hernia and have weight trained for 47-years. I can tell you that you can definitely exacerbate the issue if not careful. I believe mine may have been caused by wearing the lifting belts when I was younger. When you squat heavy with a tight belt on, it can force everything up into the upper torso. I'm 61 now and haven't used a belt in years. I work around the hernia as best I can. No heavy lifting at all. Even heavy tricep pushdowns force you to contract the abs which can make it worse. I don't do flat bench either because it bothers me. I do only incline bench.

I've got to get mine taken care of too mine is already went up I can tell into my diaphragm about two weeks ago I woke up out of bed whenever I went to put my pants on that I had wore for just a little bit the day before and I put them on and I had about six in to go to connected I could not even get it close to the button. And the top part like where my esophagus is is swollen up big time and I've been getting nausea dizzy and I have heartburn out of this world if I don't take the prescription antacids and I got to take double triple sometimes four times of it a day of what I'm prescribed. But I had no idea that the hernia was causing it.. I also have ulcerative colitis so I'm sick a lot because of that in the doctors got me on a bunch of steroids and a surgeon won't do my hernia as long as I'm taking the steroids he wants me to be off of them for a couple of months. But I'm going to have to like lie to or something I don't want to lie but I know I need this surgery quickly. So please somebody out there pray for me thank you theory by the way I have been using voice text so if some of this looks funny I just know it's because I'm using that I'm not retarded I just don't feel that could then I'm lazy right now

The biggest symptom I had was frequent heartburn. I took Tums and Prilosec on a regular basis and it eased the symptoms. The night I got sick, I had taken antacids and they were not helping and I finally vomited blood. If I were you I'd maybe share my story with your doctor because, although what happened to me may be rare, it certainly can be life threatening. My doctor has told me twice now I was one of the sickest people he has ever seen who survived. Good luck and God Bless...

So i have a 5 cm one but for 48 hrs now its hurts in that area to touch no redness there but its feel like in that area say u was to have a bruise and u pushed onit it feels like that none stop should i be worried

Good day I want to give confirmation that THE HEALING PROCESS OF THE ESOPHAGUS IS A MIRACLE. I'm currently sitting with a cat whose esophagus burst due to severe strain and trauma. The whole body is toxic due to the waist content that flooded the body after the rapture. First must the infection leaves the body and then is blood needed to produce new organ and skin cells. Mine was an esophageal hernia. I am not sure how big it was but it was visible in my abdomen and I'd estimate it was more than 1". I had it for probably 7 years and I learned to cope with it. Never did I expect it to get strangulated and nearly kill me.

I had to travel to a different country for a visceral manipulator that had trained for decades. She did it in half an hour, however studied for more than two decades! Thanks a lot. @@richmathtutor wow, I randomly decided to check this youtube account today. Good timing... Yeh the hernia got fixed, you have to look for a visceral manipulator. Loads of good ones in France, Spain. Only go for the best of the best or they don't know how to fix it. I went to see the best four in London UK, before travelling to Scotland to see one that is the best in the UK. She fixed it in half an hour, name is Alison Harvey. It came back up after a few weeks, so I had to see her again for her to bring/adjust it back down, but after about 2-3 months, it never came back up again...so stopped seeing her years ago

What type did you have. I have a large type 3. I am seeing a surgeon on Tuesday. I can't hold down food and in a lot of pain

Mine was an esophageal hernia. I was never told of a number "type" (as yours was). Mine was annoying but never really overly painful. Even the night it ruptured it wasn't especially painful, it just felt like bad heartburn. It was not until I vomited blood that I knew I was in bad shape.

@@randomreviews6207 alrighty. Thanks for the info. I threw up some blood but they think it was from the ulcers that have formed i am no a shit load of meds and still nothing. I am having surgery soon. Hope you are doing okay.

Sorry for the delayed response but I have been very busy the last few months. I am blessed to say that because my health has improved remarkably since this all occurred. I agree with you. I don't personally believe that it can be fixed with the nonsurgical methods that I have read about. I wish I had mine fixed years ago and it never would have gotten to the point of nearly killing me. I also had a third surgery in July to repair six incisional hernias that resulted from the incisions during the first two surgeries. Hopefully that is the end of it. It has been a roller coaster of a ride but I am still alive and kicking and for that I am grateful.

@@randomreviews6207 Thank you for sharing this video. I understand that you did all the things that KZreadrs with hiatal hernias did to not get surgery. I wasn't clear about one thing. Did you also go to a chiropractor to have them realign your spine and push down your stomach? Just need to know because people are spending thousands of dollars going to chiropractors for help. Thanks

@@sugarpop4642 I never went to a chiropractor. I don't know if that would have provided any benefit or not but if you have a hole in your diaphragm and it has been there for 5+ years I don't know that a chiropractor could necessarily fix it externally. I do wish I would have had surgery earlier but I listened to so called experts about pushing it down and that obviously didn't work. I just hope my story helps somebody else avoid what I have had to go through and will continue to go through the rest of my life unfortunately.

Need advice , I have a 3 rd complicated hiatus hernias , 2 surgeries last year , I've been in so much stomach pain the past few days , back upper stomach , middle of chest . Its a terrible aching pain . I'm seeing my surgeon this week. Its the worst its ever been I'm actually quite worried . Just to clarify , I do have a 3rd one with inflammation in my stomach .

I would never want anybody to go through what I have been dealing with the last six months. I don't know what advice to give you specifically because I am not a doctor but, if you have had two surgeries and it is still causing problems then that is cause for concern. My suggestion is to see if your doctor can talk to my doctors and maybe they can shed some light on the issue. I don't know if HIPAA will be a problem so they may not discuss me directly but my doctors are John Stringham (thoracic surgeon) and Robert Glasgow (gastrointestinal) at the University of Utah / Huntsman Cancer Institute. I would not be here if not for there expertise and skill as surgeons. Best wishes!

I've had a haitius hernia for about 2.5 years , stupid asshole doctors finally diagnosed me in august last year but had to stagger around short of breath for 2+ years for them to work it out(I thought doctors were smart? Oh well there goes that idea....

As someone who has been dealing with a hiatal hernia since the age of 19. I think I can talk relatively knowledgeably on this subject... I have literally done years of research on this topic. So for starters... From my experience this guy is wrong. You CAN fix your hiatal hernia with out surgery. Iv'e done it! (But only with the help of others...) In fact in many instances Hiatal hernia surgery fails and is ineffective. (My uncle is a surgeon). In many instances the hernia will come back over the next few years. Now, if there is emergency reasons like this guy had then obviously surgery needs to be done. But the problem is that it should have never gotten to that point in the first place. And that's not his fault it's the current medical fields fault. Doctors almost NEVER take Hiatal Hernias seriously. When mine was at it's worst I lost 30 pounds and basically couldn't eat anything. And all the doctors did was try to give me pills... Even though I wasn't even having acid reflux... Basically they don't take them seriously.... Until it's too late. A similar thing happened with me and I found myself in an emergency room with extreme chest pains... Moving on to some actual solutions... Number one... I would NEVER try to push your stomach down by yourself. It's too risky and you don't know what you are doing. It's also very hard to even get a hold of your own stomach from that angle. What you need to do is visit a SKILLED chiropractor who has been dealing with hiatal hernias for years and knows what he is doing. And also make sure that he has a trusted track record of dealing with hiatal hernia patients.... The way to fix a hiatal hernia is actually quite simple... The problem is a tear in the "Hiatus"... and when the stomach is not down it makes it impossible for the diaphragm (which is a muscle) to heal its self because it's being obstructed by the stomach. The stomach needs to be pulled down correctly and consistently long enough for the diaphragm muscle and more specifically the hiatus to build up muscle tone which will keep the stomach down where it's supposed to be. Like all muscles it will heal its self when it's not being obstructed... For some people it's every day for a week. For others it's a month... But there are many success stories from patients who say that skilled chiropractors were able to heal their hiatal hernias... AND I AM ONE OF THEM. I still experience the OCCASIONAL SLIGHT symptom here and there... but I literally went from not being able to eat anything and basically about to die from starvation... to being able to eat and drink ANYTHING I want. I simply had a skilled chiropractor pull my stomach down every single day for about three weeks. AND YES at first it is painful because your stomach is very inflamed from being in the wrong spot for so long. But after about a week it gets better and better. Anyways... to sum everything up.... The current medical field DOES NOT know how to effectively deal with Hiatal Hernias.. This guy was unfortunately ill informed by his doctor. As are most hiatal hernia patients... And almost died because they did not take his hernia seriously. Hiatal hernia surgery fails about 35%-55% of the time.. (meaning the surgery initially failed all together or that the hernia came back in the future)... And... You can naturally heal a hiatal hernia through SKILLED chiropractic care. Thousands have done it. Including me. Finding a chiropractor who is skilled with helping hiatal hernia patients can be difficult. But I can 100% suggest a few Chiropractors... In the USA. Thanks for your reply. I am not a doctor and I agree that this condition is not addressed enough. I don't think I recommended surgery in my video. I suggested people seek medical advice before trying to fix on their own. I nearly died and I would hate to see that happen to somebody else.
