I love watching your videos, I’ve only ever visit one mine in Canada the Granduc Mine In Stewart, that was back in 1997, I was on my way to a caving expedition in Alaska, but one of my caving friends lived in Stewart who is a Brit like me and he took me up to see it, the side tipping ore cars that are still in the tunnels, were massive. I’m a member of the Derbyshire Caving Club and we are steward to the Alderly Edge Copper mine in England. The mines we used from the Bronze Age rough the Roman age and right up to the 1920,

Cant be sure if it was the ground moving or the sound that got me jumping. What I kicked down was what did not fall in the first collapse.

Sigh, I've always lived in sedimentary country. Yeah, sometimes I can find a bit of Quartz or Calcite, but I've got to travel relatively long distances to find much else. Love your vids. Thanks for taking us along, and explaining the local geology.

Got a few rockhounder fans in peterborough! We are going to the old Cordova mines soon to look for Quarts crystals and gold and silver veins my husbands family has property there with two old mine shafts. Best of luck with your new house

We have a largely worked-out fluorite mine nearby (across the Massachusetts state line, into New Hampshire)...the Wm. Wise Mine, in Westmoreland, N.H. As I said, though...it's largely worked out. Around here some of the fissures go down around 400 feet. We keep finding new fissures beneath the dirt

There is a fair bit of digging further along the fissure - intersects the fissure at 90 degrees and lots of rubble scattered around. There is certainly the possibility that mine and natural fissure cross boundaries - there are recorded instances of calcite stalactite filled cavities in some of the mines.

I grew up on the Blakely Fluorite Mine Property on the South side of Moira Lake (top of the hill on Hwy 62). I know the property like the back of my hand and I have no doubt that I know more about the mine than any other living sole. I know I'm the last living person to have entered the mine (because my parents told me to stay out !!). And of course, my best Fluorite specimen (a 2 inch cube with twinning) was found on that property. As well a 12 sided Orange Fluorite (3 sides in limestone matrix) that I found when I was in Gr. 5 unfortunately got stolen out of my teacher's desk :( I have only ever seen an Illustration of that type and color of a fluorite crystal .. and I even think it was an illustration of MY CRYSTAL ! It would be worth a Ton of $$ today IMO.
