I have water filling up I middle of yard . But I have been told we have a high water table too. So I don't know if I should use solid pipe or just holes on bottom? And should I put holes in bottom of basin or leave it solid. And will neighbors get upset heating a sump pump in yard . Plus hooking up electrical for it ugh. I hoped I could just dig hoke further down then fill with stone but uf water table high water might come right up. And if I do sump pump I'd have to use alot of pipe and alot of digging. . Don't know what I should do .

We bought the 12 x12 catch basin for use with existing 4” flex tubing. Could not get the flex into the flanges and into the box. We did punch out the 3” tabs but no go. Even out a cut on top of flex to try to squeeze it and then insert it into the flanges with no luck. We are going to have to put the flex tubing on outside of flanges with adhesive sealant to prevent leakage.

If I have a grade problem in my side yard so the slope goes toward the house slightly so when it rains hard I get standing water at the base of the house, if I put catch basins to pull the water away, how close or far should I make the catch basins along the side of the house? I will have them feed into a 4” corrugated pipe to run to the hill to dump the water. Can a 6” catch basin suck down lots of surface water?

How do these basins perform long term in super-cold climates? I have heard rumblings of frost heaves causing a lot of problems

I'm wondering similarly about winterizing. Could be that increasing gravel or stone amounts, not sure.

for my gutter downspout run of about 20' I"m going to use old hardened cement in bags that I'll crush up. I will just dig a big hole and run the end of the pipe into it, into the crushed hardened cement.

I’m installing a catch basin into the lowest part of my yard with some drainage from the downspout that I’ve run underground as your video describes. Since the basin is at the lowest point and my yard floods significantly do you think I should use perforated PVC and Stone in the ditch to aid in drainage from the yard? Thanks, Chris

The perforated pipe and stone will help with the discharge of the water if the water table isn't too high. Make sure the perforated pipe and stone start at least 15' away form the house / foundation.

Im installing a 40 inch channel drain in front of the shop door to eliminate rain water entry into my shop. The 4x2 adapter and 2” schedule 40 will run under fresh concrete sidewalk. Im thinking about burying the nds leaching tank 10 ft from the channel drain. Then covering it with concrete. Has anyone attempted this? Very Sandy/loomis soil so absorption should be more than adequit for the amount of water it will be handling.

I’ve been doing service/repair plumbing for over 21 years. My joy is plants. I’ve done a lot of experiments with plants. I’m gonna be hopefully buying this house I’m at. I’m planning to direct the overflow from watering into a catch basin. Inside the basin will be a pump to discharge the water back into a separate system. I can water all day in clay. I’m thinking a similar setup that a loading dock has but also reusing my water to do a deep watering for my lawn. Hell yeah. I’m going to do it regardless if it’s legal. It’s going to be sick

What type of duct tape are you using? Is it specific to underground applications? Thanks

The tape used in drainage systems typically is known as Tile Tape. It is available in a 2" or 4" wide roll x 108' long. The tape is available at www.drainageproducts.us under part numbers TT2108 or TT4108.

WAIT WHAT? Drill holes in the bottom of the basin? This thing is against my house, I am trying to move the water away from the house! Drilling holes, cancels the whole thing.

You'll probably want to have the catch basin installed away from the home. Add a flat or atrium grate with pipe that leads from your house to the catch basin some distance away.

@@kevintaylor5715 Thanks Kevin. I will put in a very tiny "weep" hole, to keep mosquito's at bay. I wont drill a very wide hole, because I still think that water will migrate wrong.

when it rains the soil around your entire foundation gets wet at some point, if it is heavy rainfall you will obviously see this right away if you have an issue

@@ednaemode5762 Indeed, and excellent point. It's why French drains have holes in the bottom of them so as the ground water table rises, it will flow into the pipe, and then down and out to the street. Before I learned this (the hard way), I never knew this fact.

Goodness me, no fresh water sewer. No land drainage before you build. This must be a third world country?

  • @DrainageSolutionsInc

    @DrainageSolutionsInc

You must have inlets to get the surface water to the drainage system. There is plenty of properties that need inlets for low spots or land that doesn't have enough slope to drain properly without the use of inlets and piping. This isn't any different than dealing with drainage in sports fields, parking lots and roadways in a developed country.
