There's a huge difference between LS and ulb elections. In LS, people tend to vote for the party which is seen as less polarizing that fortunately happened to be Congress this time and of course, NDPP allying with a political party that pander to hindutva politics certainly didn't help among the majority Christian populace in Nagaland. Whereas, there are various factors at play in local elections; Clanism, vote buying, regionalism, merit of the local candidates, ruling party advantages and many more.
