NDIS Provider Story: Sunshine Butterflies CEO Leanne

Sunshine Butterflies is a service for people with disabilities and their families so we support both individuals and their families.
We have a range of programs and services depending on age and ability.
I started Sunshine Butterflies because of my own son who was born 13 weeks premature with cerebral palsy,
I just wanted to create an organisation that can support people the way I wish I was supported when I first started that journey.
Our members who have a disability are matched with a staff member who have a certain skill that person with a disability is looking for to help them reach their goals in their NDIS plan.
Being a farming environment with lots of open learning spaces, it just allows everybody to be who they are and what they wanna be.
I've been coming to Sunshine Butterflies for over five years and I have been working here at the cafe for a year and a half.
Sunshine Butterflies has amazing programs to be a part of, it's just the really amazing environments that they can provide to help out people with disabilities.
I have my own business called Hannah Goes Retro, I love retro clothes.
I like being involved in Sunshine Butterflies, it helps me with my business.
I've met a whole group of best friends there. I find it so helpful being able to have carers to take me out and explore different places around the Sunshine Coast.
I've also got a few really great carers, one of them is named Liam, he's helped me create my own website, my own Instagram page.
[Leanne] The NDIS has impacted on us due to a huge growth that it's actually created for us.
We have so many more people that have that option now to attend Sunshine Butterflies, where they never did before.
The most rewarding thing is about watching our members grow,
turn into individuals that are just shooting stars, reaching their goals, it's absolutely life changing.
We're incredibly proud to be part of their journey and we know that they're proud to be part of the development of Sunshine Butterflies.
