Normalized Difference Built-up Index(NDBI) describe the Built-up density of any Geographic area. NDBI is calculated as a ratio between the short wave infrared (SWIR) and near infrared (NIR) and have indices range from -1 to 1.
Formula for NDBI
NDBI=(SWIR-NIR)/(SWIR+NIR)
NDBI for Landsat 8,
NDBI=(Band 6-Band 5)/(Band 6+Band 5)
NDBI for Landsat 7,
NDBI=(Band 5-Band 4)/(Band 5+Band 4)
You can use band 7 because both of them are SWIR band.

yeah. After getting the NDBI Raster Image, you have to convert it to Polygon. After that, go to attribute and select only building value. then extract...
